For the purpose of optimal control of anti-lock brake systems, precise dynamic characteristics analysis of hydraulic modulator, especially solenoid valve is necessary. However, most of researches so far have dealt with dynamic characteristic analysis of valve itself, and the results have been restrictively applied to the actual ABS modulator, where hydraulic pressure is acting. In this study, mathmatical modeling and experimental analysis were peformed in order to evaluate the valve dynamic characteristics when the hydraulic pressure is applied. High pressure on the master cylinder that affects on the valve dynamic characteristics have been analyzed quantitatively, and performance improvement methods have been suggested through parameter study. Consequently, results of solenoid valve dynamic characteristics analysis derived in the study can be utilized as criteria for the optimal control of anti-lock brake systems.

Based on the qualitative analysis regarding five dominant characteristics of fashion in the transitional period of the 21s1 century, subsequent quantitative analysis was conducted and the following results were obtained. First, it was found that 85% of the clothes analyzed showed these five characteristics. Secondly, among the five characteristics, the new-naturalism shows the most significant trend and neo-retro was also found as one of the leading features along with the new-naturalism in the transitional period of the 21 st century. However, the frequency of technicism is less than was expected. Thirdly, analysis of the distribution of fashion characteristics according to fashion designers and seasonal changes show that new-naturalism, neo-retro and hybrid spread relatively evenly among each designer. The quantitative study confined the results obtained through the qualitative study.

This study proposes the analysis and evaluation method of time series ultrasonic signal using the attractor analysis. Features extracted from time series signal analyze quantitatively characteristics of weld defects. For this purpose, analysis objective in this study is fractal dimension and attractor quadrant feature. Trajectory changes in the attractor indicated a substantial difference in fractal characteristics resulting from distance shifts such as parts of head and flange even though the types of defects are identified. These difference in characteristics of weld defects enables the evaluation of unique characteristics of defects in the weld zone. In quantitative fractal feature extraction, feature values of 3.848 in the case of part of head(crack) and 4.102 in the case of part of web(side hole) and 3.711 in the case of part of flange(crack) were proposed on the basis of fractal dimensions. Proposed attractor analysis and DAC in this study can enhance the precision rate of ultrasonic evaluation for defect signals of rail weld zone such as side hole and crack.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between psychological characteristics(needs, self-consciousness, self-esteem), attitude toward appearance and clothing attitude of high school students. Method of posing a questionnaire was adopted to obtain stochastic data required for pertinent analysis. This is the investigation of which 489(male 236, female 253) high school students located in Chungnam and Jeollabukdo province. In this statistical analysis, SPSS 10.0 for Windows Program was utilized to calculate percentage, mean and standard deviation Also, these materials were verified by factor analysis, t-test, multiple regression analysis. The results of this research were as follows: The results of analysing the factors to the response attitude toward appearance emerged three factors(conformity value needs toward appearance). Gender had the significant effects on the psychological characteristics, attitude toward appearance and clothing attitude of high school students. Psychological characteristics, attitude toward appearance of high school students had an effects on clothing attitude, i.e. gender attractiveness, fashion pursuit, self-expression aesthetic, and modesty.

Tanks are used extensively in many engineering areas for spent fuel pool structures at nuclear power plants or for water storage tanks in bulk carriers. To ensure the structural integrity of such tanks when under dynamic loads, modal characteristics such as natural frequencies, participation factors and mode shapes should be known. Investigated in this study are the modal characteristics of a square tank by the finite element method. This approach can be used with subsequent dynamic analyses such as a response spectrum analysis or a harmonic analysis. Finite element models are prepared to determine the natural frequencies and mode shapes, which are easy to find the modal characteristics of a fluid-filled square tank. The effects of the fluid contained in the tank and the boundary conditions at top and bottom ends on the modal characteristics are assessed by several finite element analyses.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the occurrence characteristics of vacant spaces in the old hillside residential area, focused on 7 areas surrounding old downtown in Busan. This study suggests 3 stages of analysis as following. First, after the overall site survey on the vacant spaces in 7 old hillside residential areas in Busan, this study identifies the difference of types of vacant spaces according to each area. Second, based upon precedent researches, this study set up 3 perspectives and 9 analysis indices to investigate the areal characteristics of vacant space occurrence. Third, through the GIS analysis on the vacant spaces, this study tries to analyze the physical, commercial and social/institutional conditions of the areas in order to disclose the areal characteristics of vacant spaces occurrence.

The rheological and penetration characteristics of sodium alginate and xanthan gum aqueous solutions were analyzed for the development of biopolymer-based injection materials. The results of viscosity measurements for the rheological characteristics analysis show that all aqueous biopolymer solutions exhibit a tendency for shear-thinning, i.e., the apparent viscosity decreases as the shear rate increases. In addition, a regression analysis using several models (Power-law, Casson, Sisko, and Cross) was applied to the shear-thinning fluid analysis results, the highest accuracy was determined by applying the power-law model. The micromodel experiment for the penetration characteristics analysis determined that all biopolymer aqueous solutions show higher pore saturation than water, and that pore saturation tends to increase as the flow rate and concentration increases. When comparing the rheological and penetration characteristics of the biopolymer aqueous solution used in this study, the xanthan gum aqueous solution showed a fully developed shear-thinning tendency, unlike the sodium alginate aqueous solution. This tendency is considered to have the advantage of enhancement injectability and pore saturation.

This study was conducted on men and women in their teens and 50s living in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi-do to find out the relevance between demographic characteristics of lifestyle clusters and the characteristics of beauty salon use. To analyze the data of a total of 522 people collected, statistical processing was performed with analysis of frequency, analysis of factor, analysis of reliability, analysis of cluster, analysis of variance and analysis of cross. As a result, lifestyle group types were classified as fashion and social focus types, family-oriented types, and family-free types. These types were highly related to age, final education, and marital status among demographic characteristics, and were also found to be highly relevant to the characteristics of beauty salon use, such as beauty salon location and frequently used beauty services. The results of this study are thought to be the basic data that can be used for beauty salon marketing.

This study analyzed the factors of the physical and social characteristics, self-esteem as well as life satisfaction of elderly women, and analyzed the effects of the physical and social characteristics on self-esteem and life satisfaction. The survey was conducted from January 10 to February 10, 2011 among the elderly women aged 60 or older in the Guri-si and its environs of Gyeonggi-do, and 380 responses were used in the data analysis. The statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. As a result, the physical characteristics of elderly women were classified by the activities of daily living(ADL), physical function, and disease status. The social characteristics of elderly women were classified by the religious and social activities. ADL, physical function, religious and social activities were shown to influence the self-esteem. In addition, ADL, physical function, and religious activities influenced the life satisfaction of elderly women.

This study examines music visualization characteristics appearing in Giorgio Armani's S/S 2000 Collection and Genny's F/W 2000 Collection, which elicited and reinterpreted the characteristics through an analysis of Kandinsky's paintings. Study results are as follows. First, music visualization characteristics were extracted through an analysis of Kandinsky's works to examine music visualization that appears in contemporary fashion. Further analysis of Kandinsky's works were done in regards to music visualization (Impression, Improvisation, and Composition), and music visualization characteristics were categorized into 'spatial element', 'mobility', and 'overlap'. Second, the analysis of contemporary fashion with a spatial component showed that space was often clothed through color contrasts that highlighted concise and playful effects. Emphasis on line and three-dimensional effects were shown by overlapping lines and costume pleats with exposure expressed by semiotic forms and fabric character4istics. Third, the analysis of clothes that express mobility shows that they commonly express mobility through free color arrangements and a shading of colors with playfulness. The effects of emphasis, uniformity, and exposure were shown through the gloss and transformation of fabric that emphasized fabric characteristics; in addition, the effect of simplicity, three-dimensionality, and uniformity were expressed by adopting the forms of geometric shapes. Fourth, the analysis of clothes that manifest the overlap showed a predominant overlapping of colors and fabric. The esthetic effects of playfulness and exposure were emphasized through colors, shapes, and lines.
