Title Extraction from Book Cover Images Using Histogram of Oriented Gradients and Color Information

  • In this paper, we present a technique to extract the title areas from book cover images. A typical book cover image may contain text, pictures, diagrams as well as complex and irregular background. In addition, the high variability of character features such as thickness, font, position, background and tilt of the text also makes the text extraction task more complicated. Therefore, we propose a two steps efficient method that uses Histogram of Oriented Gradients and color information to find the title areas. Firstly, text localization is carried out to find the title candidates. Finally, refinement process is performed to find the sufficient components of title areas. To obtain the best result, we also use other constraints about the size, ratio between the length and width of the title. We achieve encouraging results of extracted title regions from book cover images which prove the advantages and efficiency of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose a new training algorithm for improving pattern classification performance of ART neural network. The proposed train algorithm restricts unnecessary cluster generation and transition, applies the location extraction algorithm, and operates the reset system based on the agreement between the present learning pattern and the initial pattern. As a result, repetitive input of a pattern does not generate a new cluster and mis-recognition rate decreases.

  • Facial expression and gesture of the actors can be magnified or understated depending on the size of the camera framing. The direction, quality, and quantity of the lighting can also make the actors look different. That's why we have to deliberate how to photograph the actors who will be projected on the screen. This thesis shows the way of improving performance and emphasizing each character with camera and lighting. You will also find out how visual elements influence the actors and their performances.

  • In this paper we propose efficient design and implementation of JPEG image display board that can display JPEG image on TV. we used NAND Flash Memory to save the compressed JPEG bit stream and video encoder to display the decoded JPEG mage on TV. Also we convert YCbCr to RGB to super impose character on JPEG image. The designed B/D is implemented using FPGA.

The purpose of this study is to find out the essence of these elements in digital games with Cannibalism.   • In this paper, I analyze the success factors of the mobile game "Marble for Kakao", and propose the factors that should be emphasized when converting the board game to digital. has converted to digital game using board game widely known in Korea. At this time, it differs from the existing , reducing the time required to play the game once, allowing the user to concentrate for a short period of time by giving a visual expression, and to repeatedly play the game several times. It also allows users to experience a variety of maps and character enhancement systems so that they can continue to be interested. Thus, Marble for Kakao has optimized the digital environment, not digitally portraying existing board games.

  • 21세기의 여러 가지 공연 문화 중에 뮤지컬 장르는 현대 문화의 아이콘이라고 할 만큼 우리 생활 속에 친근하게 자리 잡고 있다. 특히 한국 창작 뮤지컬 분야는 그 소재를 우리 역사 속 인물을 제 창조 하여 국민들의 공감대를 형성 하는 경우가 늘어나고 있다. 하지만 해외에 비해 창작을 해온 역사가 아직은 짧고 전문 인력이 부족 하기 때문에 지금도 완성이 아닌 현제 진행형이라고 볼 수 있다. 뮤지컬 원효는 우리 역사 속 인물인 원효 대사를 새로운 인물로 재창조 하여 창작된 뮤지컬로 작품속에 녹아 있는 '일체유심조'사상과 요석 공주와의 관계를 통해 원효 대사가 파계하는 모습 등을 여러 가지 사건과 음악을 통해 보여주고 있다. 뮤지컬은 작품 속에 등장하는 인물들의 존재 이유가 명확할 때 작품의 의도 또한 잘 전달 되어 질 수 있지만 뮤지컬 원효에서 여자 주인공 역할인 요석 공주는 주인공임에도 불구하고 인물의 목표와 장면마다의 연계성에 대한 부재가 크다고 판단되었다. 본고는 뮤지컬 원효에 등장하는 인물 중에서 중심인물인 요석 공주의 시점으로 장면을 분석하고 더 나은 공연이 되기 위해 나아갈 방향성을 제시해 보고자 한다.

Correction of Text Character Skeleton for Effective Trajectory Recovery

  • One of the biggest problems of skeletonization is the occurrence of distortions at the junction point of the final binary image. At the junction area, a single point usually becomes a small stroke, and the corresponding trajectory task, as well as the OCR, consequently becomes more complicated. We therefore propose an adaptive post-processing method that uses an adaptive threshold technique to correct the distortions. Our proposed method transforms the distorted segments into a single point so that they are as similar to the original image as possible, and this improves the static handwriting images after the skeletonization process. Further, we attained promising results regarding the usage of the enhanced skeletonized images in other applications, thereby proving the expediency and efficiency of the proposed method.

  • As a series of the studies of EPDM-polymer blonds, the experiments are concentrated to the investigation of the physical properties of the EPDM-BR blends. The results are shown as follows: 1. In blending, tensile strength and elongation decreased with increase in EPDM contents. 2. The resistance for aging and ozone were much improved after blending. It was effective more :han the ratio of EPDM/BR is 50/50. 3. Tear strength is less influenced after blending and rebound character decreased with increase in EPDM contents.
