연료전지 성능에 영향을 미치는 채널형상에 대한 연구 (Numerical analysis of the shape effect on PEMFC's Performace)

  • Formability is requested to successfully develop of a metal bipolar plate for mass production. From this point of view, wider channel and land width is more helpful to improve formability. But the performance of the fuel cell can be affected by its channel and land shape. So it is very important to select proper channel and land shape not to deteriorate the fuel cell performance. In this work, 3-dimensional, non-isothermal numerical simulation was performed to analyse the effects of channel and land width on the fuel cell performance. 3 types of straight channel were selected for the numerical simulation. The simulation results reveal that wide channel and land width lower fuel cell performance and decrease voltage at a high current density region. Water activity, temperature, oxygen concentration distributions were investigated to find the reasons of performance degradation. The results show that wide channel and land width give an bad effect on fuel cell performance because of low cool ins efficiency and lack of oxygen gas under the land.

분수로 분류부 형상에 따른 유량분배율 특성의 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Characteristic of Discharge Distribution Rate according Divided Channel Shape)

  • The divided channel is not often used on the river and when the installation is for the controlling of the flow quantity. The determination of the channel size is not a easy task. Model tests are examined to confirm the variation of distribution rate by the method of the channel installation and the position of the structure and the adjustment of numerical simulation is executed by the comparing of the results. This study is to execute numerical model according to installation of divided channel by using AQUADYN program, the 2nd dimension numerical model, and HEC-RAS program, the 1st dimension numerical model, by the shape of divided channel. Also, it compares with difference by method about each case.

용접식 판형열교환기 헤더형상에 따른 채널 위치별 유량 분배 특성 고찰 (Investigation of Flow Distribution Characteristics at the Channel Location according to the Header Shape of Welded Plate Heat Exchanger)

  • To improve the flow distribution at channel locations in the welded plate heat exchanger with "L"-type inflow, the flow visualization of Model 1 was carried out. Besides, the characteristics of flow distribution was investigated experimentally according to the header shape. The inlet flow rate for each channel location was increased at the side channels but decreased at the central channels. In the case of Model 2, which has a slant structure added to the basic header of Model 1, the unevenness of inlet flow increased by 23% from 0.019 to 0.023 as compared to Model 1. On the other hand, Model 3, which has a baffle structure added to Model 2, showed 0.064 unevenness in inlet flow, which was a 36% reduction one compared to Model 1. To improve the distribution at each channel in the welded plate heat exchanger with "L"-type flow, it is necessary to improve the header external shape for the guide of flow as well as the baffle structure for reduction of vortex flow.

복단면인 직선수로 내 사행 저수로의 형태에 따른 흐름특성 연구 (A Study on Flow Characteristics according to Meandering Low Flow Channel Shape in the Compound Cross Section Typed Straight Channel)

  • 복단면 형태를 이루는 직선하도 내 사행하는 저수로의 형태에 따른 흐름 특성을 파악하기 위해, 국내 대표적인 하도 형태를 상정해 실내 수리모형을 실시해서 3차원 수치모의의 유효성을 확인하고, 이를 바탕으로 다른 유형의 하도 형태에 대해서도 수치모의로 검토를 실시하였다. 본 연구결과, 수리모형 실험에서 관측한 수심별 유속값을 이용하여 수치모형의 검정을 수행한 결과, 수치모의 결과와 충분히 일치하는 것으로 확인하였다. 이를 토대로, 추가적인 저수로 형태 변화에 따른 유동장에 대해 분석한 바에 따르면, 선행 연구들에서 검토된 이차류 현상이 발생하였음을 확인한 한편, 고수부지 내 유수단면적 확대에 따라 최고유속분포 지점이 이동하는 현상을 확인할 수 있었다. 궁극적으로 저수로 폭 변화가 흐름에 영향을 끼쳐 궁극적으로 하천설계에 중요한 요소인 수충부의 위치와 그 영향 정도를 파악하는 것이 필요하다고 판단된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 채널단면을 갖는 캔틸레버 복합적층 구조물의 안정성에 다루었다. 보다 합리적이고 효율적인 설계의 기초자료를 제시하고자 채널단면의 길이비와 곡절각도 등과 같은 기하학적 형상변화와 화이버의 보강각도에 따른 좌굴거동을 분석하고, 그에 따른 상호작용에 의한 안정성을 파악하였다. 이를 근거로 캔틸레버 복합적층 구조물의 적절한 채널단면 및 복합재료의 적층구조형식 등을 공학적 측면에서 고찰하고 제시하였다.

Evaluation of thermal-hydraulic performance and economics of Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) for recuperators of Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors (SFRs) using CO2 and N2 as working fluids

  • In this study, we evaluate the thermal-hydraulic performance and economics of Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) according to the channel types and associated shape variables for the design of recuperators with Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors (SFRs). To perform the evaluations with variables such as the Reynolds number, channel types, tube diameter, and shape variables, a code for the heat exchanger is developed and verified through a comparison with experimental results. Based on the code, the volume and pressure drop are calculated, and an economic assessment is conducted. The zigzag type, which has bending angle of 80° and a tube diameter of 1.9 mm, is the most economical channel type in a SFR using CO2 as the working fluid. For a SFR using N2, we recommend the airfoil type with vertical and horizontal numbers of 1.6 and 1.1, respectively. The airfoil type is superior when the mass flow rate is large because the operating cost changes significantly. When the mass flow rate is small, volume is a more important design parameter, therefore, the zigzag type is suitable. In addition, we conduct a sensitivity analysis based on the production cost of the PCHE to identify changes in optimal channel types.

The Effect of Obstacle Number, Shape and Blockage Degree in Flow Field of PEMFC on its Performance

  • Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has received extensive attention as it is the most common hydrogen energy utilization device. This research not only investigated the effect of obstacle number and shape on PEMFC performance, but also studied the effect of the blockage degree in the channel of PEMFC on its performance. It was found that compared with traditional scheme, longitudinally distributed obstacles scheme can significantly promote reactants transfer to catalyst layer, and the blockage degree in the channel effect PEMFC performance most. The scheme with 10 rectangular obstacles in single channel and 60% channel blockage had the best output performance and the most uniform distribution of reactants and products. Obstacle height distribution can significantly affect PEMFC performance, the blockage degree in the whole basin was large, particularly as the channel was blocked to higher degree in region 2 and region 3, higher net power density and better mass transfer effect can be obtained. Among them, the fuel cell with the blockage degree of 40%, 60% and 60% in region 1, region 2 and region 3 have the best PEMFC output performance and mass transfer, the net power density was 29.8% higher than that of traditional scheme.

채널 형상에 따른 마이크로채널 판형 열교환기 열전달 성능 향상에 관한 수치 연구 (Numerical Study of Heat Transfer Enhancement on Microchannel Plate Heat Exchanger with Channel Shape)

  • In this study, the microchannel plated heat exchanger were numerically studied for the enhancement of heat transfer in the channel configuration. Unit cold and hot fluid region with the microchannel were modeled and periodic boundary condition at the side wall was applied to continuously repeating geometry. The material of micro-structured plate is STS304 and working fluid is water. Triangular obstacles were placed in micro channel to enhance heat transfer. The performance of microchannel plated heat exchangers were numerically investigated with various obstacle configuration and Reynolds number under the parallel and counter flows. Heat transfer rate has increased about 18% compared with straight channel, but pressure drop also increased about 3.5 times. The main factor of increasing of pressure drop and heat transfer rate is considered that the momentum was lost to collide against obstacles, generation of secondary flow and boundary layer separation, wake and vortex forming phenomena.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 열수력 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 PCHE의 새로운 유로 형상을 제안하는 것이다. 기존의 Zigzag 유로는 굽힘점에서 유동 박리와 역류 영역의 발생으로 높은 압력손실을 가지고 있다. 이 단점을 개선하기 위하여 굽힘점에 직관영역을 삽입하였다. 또한 직관의 길이 변화가 열전달 및 압력손실에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 새로운 형상과 기존 Zigzag 유로의 열수력 성능을 Goodness Factor를 사용하여 정량적으로 비교하였다. 질량유량은 $1.41{\times}10^{-4}$에서 $2.48{\times}10^{-4}kg/s$까지 변화 하였다. 1mm 직관길이에서 평균 Goodness Factor는 Zigzag보다 약 25% 정도 증가되었다.

신경회로망기법을 사용한 엇갈린 딤플 유로의 최적설계 (Design Optimization of a Staggered Dimpled Channel Using Neural Network Techniques)

  • This study presents a numerical procedure to optimize the shape of staggered dimple surface to enhance turbulent heat transfer in a rectangular channel. The RBNN method is used as an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes analysis of fluid flow and heat transfer with shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model. The dimple depth-to-dimple print diameter (d/D), channel height-to-dimple print diameter ratio (H/D), and dimple print diameter-to-pitch ratio (D/S) are chosen as design variables. The objective function is defined as a linear combination of heat transfer related term and friction loss related term with a weighting factor. Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) is used to determine the training points as a mean of the design of experiment. The optimum shape shows remarkable performance in comparison with a reference shape.
