Relationships among Recognition, Preference, and Purchasing Characteristics for Local Agricultural Products and Festival Satisfaction of Changnyeong Area - Compared by the Gender, Age, and Purchase Experience - (창녕지역 축제만족도와 농특산물 인지도, 선호도, 구매특성과의 관련성 - 성별과 연령, 구매경험을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among recognition, preference, and purchasing characteristics for Changnyeong onions and garlic as well as festival satisfaction among participants at agricultural product festivals in the Changnyeong region. Results showed that festival satisfaction of 'place of festival' was highest while 'convenience facility & event contents' earned the lowest scores. Most subjects (90.5%) had purchased Changnyeong agricultural and processed products. A major purchasing type was fresh agricultural products (66.7%). The pathways to recognize Changnyeong agricultural products were mostly 'promotion by related institutions' (22.0%), 'family relatives' (20.8%), 'mass media' (16.6%), and 'festivals and events' (16.1%). The most considered factors for purchasing regional products were 'geographical origin' and 'ingredients'. Changnyeong onion showed higher scores for recognition and preference and rate of purchase experience and intention than for garlic. The correlation coefficients of recognition and preference for onion and galic were 0.603 (p<0.001) and 0.598 (p<0.001), respectively. The explanation power ($R^2$) of related variables for purchase of Changnyeong onions was 0.258. The regression coefficients (${\beta}$) for 'recognition', 'preference' and 'convenient facility & event contents' were positive, whereas the regression coefficient for 'price' was negative. Recognition, preference, and convenient facility & event contents with garlic purchase showed a positive relationship ($R^2$=0.253). The most effective promotion method to increase sales of Changnyeong agricultural products was 'local festivals and events' (27.8%).

Relationship among Operation Program and Purchase of Local Agricultural Products and Processed Products at Changnyeong Local Festival (창녕지역 축제에서 지역농특산물 및 그 가공품의 구매와 운영 프로그램과의 관련성)

  • This study analyzed purchasing characteristics of local agricultural products and processed products as well as evaluated operation programs for Changnyeon festival participants. The purchasing rates of local agricultural products and processed products at this festival were 63.6% and 49.1%, respectively, and the main purchased crops were onion (42.6%) and garlic (20.7%). Drinks (43.6%) were highly purchased processed products. The recognition (95.3%) and preferences (98.4%) for Changyeong local agricultural products were high at this festival. Subjects (72.5%) responded that public relations were effective for sale at this festival, and evaluation of the operation program for the festival was $3.51{\pm}0.74$ (total score 5 points). Satisfaction with the experience event (37.7%) and exhibition event (33.6%) were high at this festival program, whereas participants gave low rates for art exhibition and sale events of local agricultural products (16.2%), cooking education (14.7%), direct education program (12.9%), and games (12.1%). This festival was an effective means of public relations, although purchase effects were not significant. This result suggests that the festival is necessary for planning a program to increase purchasing.

An Analysis of the Fallow Potential in Agricultural Area by Multi-logistic Model - A Case Study of Ibang-myeon, Changnyeong-gun, Kyungsangnam-do - (다중 로지스틱 모형에 의한 농경지 휴경잠재성 분석 - 경상남도 창녕군 이방면을 대상으로 -)

  • Topographic condition is one of the most important things in farming activities. The topographic condition didn't matter for farming in the past because agricultural products had competitive power in the market. So farmers tried to extend their farms without any concern of topographic condition. We need less labor-consuming farming as industrial structure has been changed and the competitive power of the farming has been getting weak. This study analyzed the fallow potential in agricultural area by topographic condition so that we have got results as follows. Maps of elevation, slope, distance from roads and water resources were made for getting a fallow probability model in farms, and these 4 factors were used as independent variables while a variable on whether it is fallow or not is a dependent variable in logistic regression model. In an analysis of the fallow potential depending on farm land types, the fallow probability in fallow orchard showed the highest value of farm lands, 0.973. Cultivated orchard had 0.730 and upland had 0.616 of the fallow probability. The fields having high fallow potential had high elevation, steep slope, and long distance from water resources and roads. Especially, fields having a probability over 0.99 appeared in orchards, fallow uplands and single cropping uplands, which were recognized to have several disadvantages related to the fallow like as high elevation, steep slope, and long distance from water resources and roads. With the logistic analysis, the suitable farm lands appeared at 16.45m of the mean elevation, 1.89 degree of the mean slope, 39.91m of the average distance from water resources, and 32.39m of the average distance from roads. On the contrary, non-suitable land appeared at 114.7m of the mean elevation, 24.9 degree of the mean slope. The distance from roads was more important variable than the distance from water resources for analyzing suitable farm land.

Comparison of Volatile Flavor Compounds of Domestic Onions Harvested in Various Regions (지역별 생산 양파종의 휘발성 향기성분 비교분석)

  • To provide scientific information for processing of value-added products from onion, volatile flavor compounds were compared in onions harvested in 6 regions, such as Muan (Jeonnam), Buan (Jeonbuk), Andong (Gyeongbuk), and 3 regions of Gyeongnam around Changnyeong (Yueo, Jangma, Seongsan). A total of 51 compounds were detected in samples by solid phase microextraction (SPME)/GC/MSD and they consisted mainly of sulfur-containing compounds (20), aldehydes (4), ketones (5), esters (11), aromatic hydrocarbons (4), nitrogen containing compounds (2), and miscellaneous compounds (5). The sulfur-containing compounds were the major compounds with ranges of $62.6{\sim}80.3%$ of total volatiles, regardless of harvested regions. The amounts of 5 sulfur containing compounds known as having antioxidant activity (2,4-, 2,5-dimetylthiophene, 2-vinyl-1,3-dithiane, 5-methoxy thiazole, and 3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-trithiolane) were the highest in Andong and followed by Yueo, Jangma, Buan, Seongsan, and Muan. However, onions from Buan region had the highest amounts of 5 sulfur-containing compounds known as having anticarcinogenic activity ((Z)-, (E)-methyl propenyl disulfide, (Z)-, (E)-propenyl propyl disulfide, and di-2-propenyl disulfide), followed by Yueo, Andong, Jangma, Seongsan, and Muan.
