가족의 변화와 가족학의 과제 (A Study of the Changes of the Family and the Tasks of Family Studies)

  • Every part of our society changes rapidly in the era of information technology. And it is needed to change the study area following the social changes. Therefore, it is very important to look at the changes of family studies as a part of living science. This study examines the changes of families, predicts the outlook of future families, and defines the tasks of family science. In spite of some negative thoughts about future family, most of family scientists have very optimistic prospects. They predict that the importance of family will increase in future. Therefore, there are lots of tasks we have to do as family professionals. Among them, this paper focus on family life education and family counselling. People need to study family life education for preventing family problems and they need family counselling to overcome family crisis. So the family scientists should develop family life education programs and family counselling theories and skills.

Study on the Relationship Among Perception Changes to Pre COVID-19, Leisure Satisfaction, Work-Family Conflict, and Life Satisfaction of Married Working Women

  • The outbreak of COVID-19 has significantly impacted various facets of individuals' lives, including perceptions, leisure activities, work-family balance, and overall life satisfaction. This study aims to explore the intricate relationships among changes in perceptions due to COVID-19, leisure activity satisfaction, work-family conflict, and life satisfaction of married working women. Employing path analysis, we examined a dataset of 1,973 married working women drawn from the 8th Korean Women and Families Panel Survey. The findings indicate that while changes in perception associated with COVID-19 did not directly affect leisure activity satisfaction and life satisfaction, they did significantly decrease work-family conflict, indirectly leading to heightened life satisfaction. Additionally, leisure activity satisfaction emerged as a mitigating factor for work-family conflict, contributing to enhanced life satisfaction. These results emphasize the importance of understanding the interplay between external factors, individual perceptions, and well-being, offering insights for devising tailored strategies. The study holds significance in guiding policies and interventions to enhance the quality of life for married working women in the context of evolving pandemic challenges.

노년층의 디지털홈 서비스 사용에 따른 생활의 변화 (The Life Changes according to Uses of Digital Home Services by Older Adults)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out older adults' current uses, satisfaction level and life changes by using digital home services. The study collected data from 140 persons who were 55 years and older living in a digital home. The uses and attitude of digital home services by older adults turned out to be the important variables that led to their positive life changes. For older adults, various ideas to expand their understanding of digital home services should be developed to increase the positive life changes.

신앙을 가진 어린이들이 코로나19 시기에 경험한 변화와 바람에 관한 질적연구 (An Exploratory Study on the Experience and Expectations of Christian Children Regarding COVID-19)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 신앙을 가진 어린이들이 코로나19 시기에 경험한 변화와 바람에 관한 이야기를 탐색하여 교육적 방향을 제언하기 위함이다. 이러한 목적을 위해 코로나19 시기의 삶과 신앙생활에 대해 교회에 출석하는 초등학교 3-4학년 어린이 9명과 면담하였다. 분석 결과, 연구참여자 어린이들은 코로나19 시기에 일상의 변화, 학교생활의 변화, 대인관계의 변화, 신앙생활의 변화, 감정의 변화를 경험한 것으로 분석되었다. 일상의 변화에는 감염 예방을 위한 노력, 사라진 놀이, 여유로운 일상과 무기력함이, 그리고 학교생활의 변화에는 비대면 수업 실시와 다양한 규칙을 요구받음이 포함되었다. 친구·선생님·부모님·형제자매와의 어려움이 대인관계 변화에, 비대면 예배 실시와 가정예배 회복이 신앙생활의 변화에 포함되었다. 연구참여자들의 바람을 분석한 결과, 여행과 놀이의 회복을 포함하는 일상적 바람, 대면 예배로의 복귀·수련회의 회복·재미있는 프로그램 개발을 포함하는 신앙에 관한 바람, 그리고 코로나19 이전 학교생활로 복귀가 도출되었다, 이와 같은 어린이들의 경험과 바람을 토대로 본 연구는 교육자들이 코로나19 시기에 보여 준 어린이들의 노력을 인정하고 그들의 마음을 읽어주고 소통·공동체·즐거움의 요소가 포함된 교회 프로그램을 개발할 필요가 있음을 제안한다.

Changes in hematoserological profiles and leukocyte redistribution in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) under progressive hypoxia

  • In recent years, global warming is causing dramatic environmental changes and deterioration, such as hypoxia, leading to reduced survival rate and growth performance of farmed aquatic animals. Hence, understanding systemic immuno-physiological changes in fish under environmental stress might be important to maximize aquaculture production. In this study, we investigated physiological changes in rainbow trout exposed to hypoxic stress by monitoring changes in blood chemistry, leukocyte population, and expression levels of related cytokine genes. Hematological and serological factors were evaluated in blood obtained from rainbow trout sampled at a dissolved level of 4.6 mg O2 L-1 and 2.1 mg O2 L-1. Blood and head kidney tissue obtained at each sampling time point were used to determine erythrocyte size, leukocyte population, and cytokine gene expression. The level of LDH and GPT in fish under progressive hypoxia were significantly increased in plasma. Likewise, the (Granulocyte + Macrophage)/lymphocyte ratio (%) of fish exposed to hypoxia was significantly lower than that in fish in the control group. Such changes might be due to the rapid movement of lymphocytes in fish exposed to acute hypoxia. In this study, significant up-regulation in expression levels of IL-1β and IL-6 gene appeared to be involved in the redistribution of leukocytes in rainbow trout. This is the first study to demonstrate the involvement of cytokines in leukocyte trafficking in fish exposed to hypoxia. It will help us understand systemic physiological changes and mechanisms involved in teleost under hypoxic stress.

Cellular machinery for sensing mechanical force

  • For mechanical force to induce changes in cellular behaviors, two main processes are inevitable; perception of the force and response to it. Perception of mechanical force by cells, or mechanosensing, requires mechanical force-induced conformational changes in mechanosensors. For this, at least one end of the mechanosensors should be anchored to relatively fixed structures, such as extracellular matrices or the cytoskeletons, while the other end should be pulled along the direction of the mechanical force. Alternatively, mechanosensors may be positioned in lipid bilayers, so that conformational changes in the embedded sensors can be induced by mechanical force-driven tension in the lipid bilayer. Responses to mechanical force by cells, or mechanotransduction, require translation of such mechanical force-induced conformational changes into biochemical signaling. For this, protein-protein interactions or enzymatic activities of mechanosensors should be modulated in response to force-induced structural changes. In the last decade, several molecules that met the required criteria of mechanosensors have been identified and proven to directly sense mechanical force. The present review introduces examples of such mechanosensors and summarizes their mechanisms of action.

유방절제술 환자의 상지감각변화와 삶의 질 (Changes in Upper Extemity Sensation and the Quality of Life for Patients Following Mastectomy)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the sensation changes in upper extremity and the quality of life for post-operative mastectomy patients. Methods: This study used a descriptive study design. The participants were 132 women who had mastectomies after being diagnosed with breast cancer and were participating in breast cancer self-help groups. The sensation changes in the arm of the surgery site was measured by the arm symptoms which were subjective uncomfortable feelings of the affected arm, and the quality of life was measured by Medical Outcomes Study Short Form-36. Collected data were analyzed by ANOVA, t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test and multiple regression with SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Results: Patients with stage IV breast cancer had severe changes in sensation of the arm. Participants with lymphedema had statistically significant changes in sensation compared to participants without lymphedema, but the quality of life was not different between the two groups. Pain by the SF 36 was statistically different between the two groups, with- and without-lymphedema. The factors in upper extremity's sensation changes which influence on quality of life were pain and heaviness. Conclusion: Nursing intervention for relieving pain and heaviness of the affected arm needs to be developed in order to improve QOL of the breast cancer survivors.

힘든 일 활동의 적용에 따른 지적장애인의 문제행동과 수면의 질, 삶의 질의 변화 (Changes of Problem Behavior, Sleep Quality, and Quality of Life of the People with Intellectual Disability Through the Application of Heavy Work Activities)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 힘든 일 활동의 적용에 따른 지적장애인의 문제행동과 수면의 질, 삶의 질의 변화를 분석하여 이에 대한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 있다. 본 연구의 대상은 지적장애인 10명이며, 대상자들에게 힘든 일 활동을 12주간 적용하였다. 힘든 일 활동의 적용에 따라 문제행동과 수면의 질, 삶의 질을 평가하였으며, 문제행동은 한국판 적응행동검사 도구를 활용하였고, 수면의 질은 수면의 질 평가도구를 활용하여 평가하였다. 삶의 질은 Satisfaction with Life Scale 평가도구를 활용하여 평가하였다. 그 결과 힘든 일 활동의 적용에 따라 대상자들의 문제행동이 감소하였고, 수면의 질과 삶의 질이 향상되었다. 힘든 일 활동의 적용은 지적장애인의 문제행동을 감소시키고, 수면의 질과 삶의 질을 향상시키는 데 기여할 수 있다. 이에 따라서, 지적장애인들에게 힘든 일 활동의 적용을 고려할 필요가 있을 것이다.

Scarring the early-life microbiome: its potential life-long effects on human health and diseases

  • The gut microbiome is widely recognized as a dynamic organ with a profound influence on human physiology and pathology. Extensive epidemiological and longitudinal cohort studies have provided compelling evidence that disruptions in the early-life microbiome can have long-lasting health implications. Various factors before, during, and after birth contribute to shaping the composition and function of the neonatal and infant microbiome. While these alterations can be partially restored over time, metabolic phenotypes may persist, necessitating research to identify the critical period for early intervention to achieve phenotypic recovery beyond microbiome composition. In this review, we provide current understanding of changes in the gut microbiota throughout life and the various factors affecting these changes. Specifically, we highlight the profound impact of early-life gut microbiota disruption on the development of diseases later in life and discuss perspectives on efforts to recover from such disruptions.

Video tracking을 이용한 병원성 세균에 감염된 angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)의 행동 변화 분석 (Analysis of Behavioral Changes in Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) Infected with Bacterial Pathogens using Video Tracking)

  • In recent years, there have been many studies investigating changes in animal behavior using video tracking technology to track motion. However, there have been very few studies and results on changes in the behavior of fish infected with a pathogen. Therefore, the present study attempted to analyze the behavior of angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) infected with bacterial pathogens using video tracking. Two cameras were placed in front of the water tank to obtain behavior data, and tracking was performed for three days until the day of death. Data such as average speed, changes in speed, the locations of the fish in the tank, and fractal dimension were statistically analyzed based on the fish speed and location in the tank of the fish. For bacterial infection, an individual angelfish was intraperitoneally injected with approximately 106 CFU ml-1 of Aeromonas hydrophila or Edwardsiella piscicida. The experiment was carried out five times for each group. Fish infected with the bacterial pathogens showed a tendency to increase in speed and to spend more time in the upper part of the tank one or two days before death. On the day the fish died, the average speed, changes in speed, and the fractal dimension value were significantly lower than the corresponding values in the control group, and the fish also remained in the lower part of the tank. Our results indicated that behavioral changes in fish could be successfully detected earlier than death using video tracking technology, and that this method presents potential for disease monitoring in aquaculture.
