This paper introduces two platforms created by the development team at CORE studio, Thornton Tomasetti's global innovation studio. Collaborative platforms change the way that parties communicate and develop projects. Wikipedia is one of many great examples for a platform that supports collaborative development of a product - the world's largest encyclopedia. In the AEC industry, no such platform exists that can be used for collaborative development of a building project, and hence, information exchange between the parties involved, and modeling programs used in a project is slow and opaque. The platforms introduced in this paper allow for much greater transparency at all stages of the building design process, and hence improve the flow of information between parties involved in the process, both firm-internal and external. While traditionally, the use of a large number of different modeling and analysis platforms is hard to manage by a project team; this paper introduces methods that strengthen the design process by using a multitude of programs needed in the different building design phases.
In order to clarify the impacts of thermal difference in atmospheric boundary layer due to the different sophistication of building information in Busan metropolitan areas, several numerical simulations were carried out. ACM (Albedo Calculation Model) and WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) was applied for estimating albedo and meteorological elements in urban area, respectively. In comparison with coarse aggregated and small buildings, diurnal variation of albedo is highly frequent and its total value tend to be smaller in densely aggregated and tall buildings. Estimated TKE and sensible heat flux with sophisticatedly urban building parameterization is more resonable and valid values are mainly induced by urban building sophistication. The simulation results suggest that decreased albedo and increased roughness due to skyscraper plays an important role in the result of thermal change in atmospheric boundary layer.

This study identifies the features of landscape elements on the fifteen districts with the idea of land use area and visual quantity of pictures by analyzing the air photo. Therefore, the sensibility of observer is comprehended through simulating the landscape evaluation and the landscape preference with using slide film. The study is divided into three periods to understand the transition of rural landscape as the social and cultural environments have been changed. The first period is the New Community Movement which affected the rapid change of social and cultural environments. The second and third periods are the prior and post time at the rearrangement of administration district in the Tae-Jeon Broad City. The result of this study is explained below part; 1. The transition of rural landscape has been occurred as the land use pattern has been altered. The change of pattern has affected an increase of the natural space and the structure change of agricultural productive space. 2. In the regression analysis, the regression model of landscape preference and land use ratio show; Landscape preference = 3.632 - 11.618 (Residential Area) - 4.227 (Equipped Farm). The explanation variables defined as Residential Area and Equipped Farm, and the relationship of those factors shows negative. Therefore, the increase of other building will make the rural landscape lower and worse.
Global demand for dwelling energy and implications of changing climatic conditions on buildings confront the built environment to build sustainable dwellings. This study investigates the variability of future climatic conditions on newly built detached dwellings in the UK. Series of energy modelling and simulations are performed on ten detached houses to evaluate and predict the impact of varying future climatic patterns on five building performance indicators. The study identifies and quantifies a consistent declining trend of building performance which is in consonance with current scientific knowledge of annual temperature change prediction in relations to long term climatic variation. The average percentage decrease for the annual energy consumption was predicted to be 2.80, 6.60 and 10.56 for 2020s, 2050s and 2080s time lines respectively. A similar declining trend in the case of annual natural gas consumption was 4.24, 9.98 and 16.1, and that for building emission rate and heating demand were 2.27, 5.49 and 8.72 and 7.82, 18.43 and 29.46 respectively. The study further analyse future heating and cooling demands of the three warmest months of the year and ascertain future variance in relative humidity and indoor temperature which might necessitate the use of room cooling systems to provide thermal comfort.
An interesting of desktop air-conditioning system is the Personal Environmental Module(PEM) System. The PEM system allows the occupant to choose the desired temperature, air volume and direction of the discharged air. In this study, the measurements on the age of air and the air change effectiveness, using the tracer gas method, are carried out to analyze the ventilation performance for provision of fresh air near the breathing zone by the PEM. The relations between the PEM for optimal control and other factors related to indoor air quality, and the ventilation for the PEM are examined. Also, three different supply diffuser types(desktop, floor and ceiling) are compared in view of their ability to distribute supply air to the workstation breathing zone. The desktop diffuser type could deliver air directly to the occupants breathing zone with a high degree of effectiveness. The minimum local age of air was measured in the breathing zone, which is directly supplied with air from the PEM diffusers, and the measured local air change effectiveness of the desktop diffuser in the breathing zone was about 1.13 to 1.23 times greater than that of the ceiling and floor diffusers. When the minimum outside air change rate as specified using ASHRAE Standard 62R is supplied with a desktop diffuser type, the volume of outside air can be reduced 13 to 23%, resulting in a commensurate in ventilation energy use.

There is a growing concern in reducing greenhouse gas emissions all over the world. The U.K. has set 34% target reduction of emission before 2020 and 80% before 2050 compared to 1990 recently in Post Copenhagen Report on Climate Change. In practise, Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools have been introduced to construction industry in order to achieve this such as. However, there is clear a disconnection between costs and environmental impacts over the life cycle of a built asset when using these two tools. Besides, the changes in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) lead to a change in the way information is represented, in particular, information is being fed more easily and distributed more quickly to different stakeholders by the use of tool such as the Building Information Modelling (BIM), with little consideration on incorporating LCC and LCA and their maximised usage within the BIM environment. The aim of this paper is to propose the development of a model-based LCC and LCA tool in order to provide sustainable building design decisions for clients, architects and quantity surveyors, by then an optimal investment decision can be made by studying the trade-off between costs and environmental impacts. An application framework is also proposed finally as the future work that shows how the proposed model can be incorporated into the BIM environment in practise.

Tests are conducted according to the ISO TS 16774, Part 3 standard for quality management of leakage repair materials used in cracks in underground concrete structures. These test methods are performed indirectly using a nonwoven fabric on a chalet containing leak repair materials. However, it is considered that it is appropriate to verify the resistance of the repair material, which is required to be applied directly to the cracks in the actual field and to exhibit the resistance of the flow velocity. In this study, mass change was measured by using nonwoven fabric and nonwoven fabric. As a result, both methods showed an increase in mass, which indicated that the maintenance material itself contained a large amount of water, and that the mass change occurred depending on the drying state. Also, depending on the use of nonwoven fabric, the error due to the indirect test could not be ruled out. Therefore, further verification is needed, and it is considered that the test for change of mass reduction measurement is necessary according to the drying time of other types of the same series.

In recent years, many researchers have considered the building energy consumption reduction accordingly to deal with abnormal climate changes and greenhouse gas reduction. However, the lighting energy use ratio has increased in spite of the development of the high efficiency lighting device. Therefore, the study aims to produce the LED lighting applications for the effective lighting heat removal by using the heat characteristics of LED lighting and analyzing the heat removal effect. In order to increase radiant heat efficiency, the heat pipe and heat sink was attached on PCB as LED lighting applications. Experiment was conducted to verify the temperature and air velocity of inside duct: thermocouples, anemometer. The heat removal effect of LED lighting applications was measured by observing the temperature of the lighting applications and the change of air velocity in duct. The experiment shows that the temperature change in the duct according to air velocity was $0.9{\sim}5.8^{\circ}C$. It is also concluded that heat removal was calculated from 33 to 81W.
Change Detection is a useful technology that can be applied to various fields, taking temporal change information with the comparison and analysis among multi-temporal satellite images. Especially, Change Detection that utilizes high-resolution satellite imagery can be implemented to extract useful change information for many purposes, such as the environmental inspection, the circumstantial analysis of disaster damage, the inspection of illegal building, and the military use, which cannot be achieved by low- or middle-resolution satellite imagery. However, because of the special characteristics that result from high-resolution satellite imagery, it cannot use a pixel-based method that is used for low-resolution satellite imagery. Therefore, it must be used a feature-based algorithm based on the geographical and morphological feature. This paper presents the system that builds the change map by digitizing the boundary of the changed object. In this system, we can make the change map using manual or semi-automatic digitizing through the user interface implemented with a floating window that enables to detect the sign of the change, such as the construction or dismantlement, more efficiently.
It is difficult to check the exact building energy consumption reduction such as when green remodeling of buildings, because it is due to outdoor air temperature over the years. And in Korea although Big Data of building energy consumption is collected and managed through "The Information System of the Building Energy and Greenhouse Gases" it is underutilized because of non calibration of outdoor air temperature change. Therefore, this study aims to develope calibration method of building energy consumption by outdoor air temperature according to micro climates, and building use types. As a result of analysis, Regression equations of Building energy consumption and $HDD_m/CDD_m$ are derived and calibration method is developed by Regression coefficient.
