The synthesis and characterization of a nitrobenzene modified hexahomotrioxacalix[3]arene 1 are described.When calixarene 1 bound with ammonium ions carrying fluorescence group, the fluorescence of ammonium ions were effectively quenched and chang e of emission intensity provided the information of ammonium ion binding events to the calixarene 1.

GroE that is a heat shock protein composed of GroEL and GroES is known as an immunodominant target of both the humoral and cellular immune responses in bovine brucellosis. This study was carried out to characterize groE gene encoding heat shock proteins of B. abortus isolated in Korea and to evaluate the immunogenicity of the GroE protein expressed in E. coli system. In PCR the specific signals with the size of 2,077 bp were detected in five strains isolated from the mammary lymphnodes of the dairy cattle that were serologically positive and the reference strains. In comparison of the sequences of nucleotides and amino acids among the strains, GroES showed 100% identity in both sequences. GroEL was evaluated 99.0~99.9% in nucleotides and 98.0~100% homology in amino acids. The groE gene including groES and groEL was inserted into pET29a vector and constructed pET29a-GroE recombinant plasmids. The inserted groE was confirmed by digestion with Nco1 and EcoR1 endonucleases and nucleotide sequencing. E. coli BL (DE3) was transformed with pET29a-GroE, named as E. coli BL (DE3)/pET29a-GroE. In SDS-PAGE, it was evident that the recombinant plasmid effectively expressed the polypeptides for GroES (10 kDa) and GroEL (60 kDa) in 0.5, 1 and 2 hours after IPTG induction. The immuno-reactivity of the expressed proteins were proved in mouse inoculation and Western blot analysis.

1. For the prophylaxis of ceroidosis Vitamin E and C supplemented diet(POV 90.4mEg/kg) was used for flounder culture during 80 days. 2. The supplementation of Vitamin E and C with our tested concentrations on the high POV diet supported almost normal growth of flounder. It is very much comparable with the abnormal growth of flounder fed the diet of high POV. 3. The best prophylactic effect were appeared the high POV diet supplemented with Vitamin E 1mg/g diet and Vitamin C 2IU/g diet. These results were analyzed by histological observation of tissues.

Recently, ITU-T recommends that FlexE, which allows the flexible configuration of Ethernet signals, be received by OTN for transparent transmission through OTN. To compensate for the difference in bit rate that can occur when mapping FlexE signals to OTN payload, an idle codeword is removed or inserted. However, the detailed functional blocks required to implement this method are not yet available. In this paper, based on the recent ITU-T requirements, a detailed functional block for OTN mapping of FlexE signals is proposed based on 400G class. In addition, based on the detailed functional blocks, mathematical analysis was performed to obtain the characteristics of removing and inserting idle code words, and the simulation results are shown.

$Zn_{1-x}Cd_xO$ thin films were grown on (0001) sapphire substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The energy bandgap of $Zn_{1-x}Cd_xO$ films decreases withincreasing Cd content. An increase of Cd content also leads to the emission broadening and degraded crystallinity. The absorption edge and ultraviolet emission peak shift to lower energy from 3.357 eV to 3.295 eV and 3.338 eV to 3.157 eV, respectively, with increasing Cd content from 0.3% to 3%. The Stokes' shift between the absorption and emission indicates the increase of localization of exciton with Cd content.

Light-emitting chromophores have been separated from silica spheres modified the surface with 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylmethacrylate (TMSPM). The photoluminescence characteristics of the chromophores were investigated with various excitation wavelengths. The TMSPM was attached to the surface of silica spheres at $75^{\circ}C$. Large number of round shaped particles of the TMSPM was on the surface of silica spheres after 3 h reaction. The TMPSM was completely covered on the surface of the spheres after 6 h reaction. The surface modified silica spheres were soaked into acetone and stored for 20 days at ambient condition. The solution color slowly changed from light yellow to deep yellow with the increase of the storing time. The FTIR absorption peaks at 3348, 2869, 2927, 1715, 1453/1377, 1296, and $1120cm^{-1}$ represent C-OH, $R-CH_3$, $R_2-CH_2$, -C=O, C-H, C=C-H, and Si-O-Si absorption, respectively. The FTIR absorption peak at $1715cm^{-1}$ representing the ester -C=O stretching vibration for silica spheres stored for 20 days was increased compared with the spheres without aging. The UV-visible absorption peaks were at 4.51 eV (275 nm) and 3.91 eV (317 nm). There were two luminescence peaks at 2.51 eV (495 nm) and 2.25 eV (550 nm). The emission at 2.51 eV was dominant peak when the excitation energy was higher than 2.58 eV, and emission at 2.25 eV became dominant peak when the excitation energy was lower than 2.58 eV.

The cell density and packing characteristics of Escherichia coli immobilized in a dual hollow fiber bioreactor consisting of outer silicone membrane for oxygen transport and three inner isotropic polypropylene hollow fibers for substrate transport were investigated. The cells have grown forming the layer like animal tissue in a nearly 100％ packing density. The dry biomass density was 550g/liter of void volume for cell growth, which was the highest among the biomass densities ever reported.

The generation of food waste in Korea amounts to 4.10 million per year, which corresponds to 820,000 dry ton of organic waste. This has been used traditionally as animal feed or soil conditioner, but its efficacy has remained doubtful in recent years. In this study as an alternative we considered methane production by anaerobic treatment, which has an advantage of 200 million US dollars over aerobic methods. The production of methane amounts to $4.40{\times}10^8m^3$, 3.43% of $1.28{\times}10^8m^3$, total natural gas used in Korea. Furthermore the methane from household kitchen food waste amounts to 28.9% of the total gas used in the kitchen.

The development of information technology got rid of much restriction on time and space, inviting earlier knowledge based society. The growing e-commerce based on internet alters the existing way of management in business groups and countries to one based on e-business. Especially, neighboring Far-East Asia countries are on the way of increasing their interest and efforts on e-commerce. Also they continue to give support to e-commerce and explore the way to North-East Asia e-Hub, on the government level. Against this backdrop, this study tried to review the current status and supporting system of e-commerce in 6 North-East Asia countries(South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore), as a preliminary work for building the base of e-commerce and spurring the economic cooperation through e-commerce in North-East Asia region. I expect that this review would do the role of basic material for exploring and prospecting Korea's possibility as the North-East Asia e-Hub.

This paper presents a combined experimental, numerical, and analytical study on elliptical concrete-filled steel tubular (E-CFT) and rebar-stiffened elliptical concrete-filled steel tubular (RE-CFT) subjected to axial loading. ABAQUS was used to establish 3D finite element (FE) models for the composite columns and the FE results agreed well with the experimental results. It was found that the ultimate load-bearing capacity of RE-CFT stub columns was 20% higher than that of the E-CFT stub columns. Such improvement was attributed to the reinforcement effects from the internal rebar-stiffeners, which effectively enhanced the confinement effect on the core concrete, thereby significantly improved both the ultimate bearing capacity and the ductility of the E-CFT columns. Based on the results, equations were also established in this paper to predict the bearing capacities of E-CFT and RE-CFT stub columns under axial loading. The predicted results agreed well with both experimental and numerical results, and had much higher accuracy than other available methods.
