  • Effects of chamfered perforated plate on pressure loss characteristics were studied with CFD analysis. Both inlet chamfer angle and outlet chamfer angle were considered. Perforated patterns were compared by pressure loss coefficient in certain porosity and Reynolds number. Reynolds number effects were studied for several chamfer angles and plate thickness. As the inlet chamfer angle was increased, the pressure loss coefficient was decreased until the certain angle and reversed to increase. In the outlet chamfered shape cases, the pressure loss coefficient was increased with chamfer angle. Effects of pattern shapes and Reynolds number on pressure loss characteristics were negligible with different chamfer angles and thickness studied in this paper.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the fracture resistance of reattached tooth according to the resin materials and tooth preparation type under physiological conditions. Uncomplicated crown fracture in the oblique direction was reproduced on the extracted 64 anterior teeth. Depending on the composite resin material, reattachment was performed using a flowable resin and a packable resin. Depending on retentive forms, reattachment was performed using simple reattachment, 1.0 mm × 1.0 mm labial chamfer bevel, 1.0 mm × 1.0 mm lingual chamfer bevel and 1.0 mm × 1.0 mm circumferential bevel. A load was applied to the palatal surface of the tooth using a universal testing machine at an angle of 125 degree, which is the interincisal angle of normal children. Under the masticatory pressure condition, fracture resistance of lingual chamfer groups was 28.28 ± 7.41 MPa and 27.54 ± 4.45 MPa, which was significantly higher than those of simple reattachment groups, 17.21 ± 5.87 MPa and 20.10 ± 6.00 MPa, in both flowable and packable resin groups. When considering the lingual force similar to masticatory pressure, the fragment retention was significantly improved when the lingual chamfer was formed compared to the simple reattachment. Clinicians may consider the design of the lingual chamfer in order to improve fracture resistance to masticatory pressure during fragment reattachment.

  • This Experiment was carried out for bur minimization in drilling. New drill geometries are proposed to minimize the burr formation in drilling operation. Three types of drills are made, champer, round and step drill. The burr formed in first cutting by front cutting edge ca be removed in second cutting by the cutting edges in chamfer, round edge and step. New burrs are formed by second cutting and can be minimized according to the change of drill geometry like, chamfer size and angle, corner radius in round drill and step size and angle in step drill. To measure the burr formed in drilling, laser sensor is used.

  • The purpose of this investigation is experimentally to clarify the machinability and optimum tool geometry on milling of hardened STD11 steel. In the finish process office milling of high hardened STD11 steel by CBN tool, the optimum tool shape is suggested, which can minimize the tool fracture and chipping by impact. It is measured that cutting farce, tool wear and surface roughness generated during single-insert face milling using various geometric CBN tools. It has been found that the optimal chamfer angle of CBN tool is about -$25^{\circ}C$ and the suitable chandler width is 0.2mm. The nose radius of tool is the most excellent at 1.2mm in the viewpoint of tool wear and surface roughness.

  • A milling process with 45 degree chamfered inserts produces a perfect flat surface only in theory. It is due to many unwanted factors including thermal effect, dynamic effect, the problem of the controller used and the problem of accuracy of the machine tool. In this study, introduced is a method to improve the surface roughness by redesigning of the chamfer angle of the insert, which traditionally has been 45 degree. First, the relationship between the fixed machine coordinate and the relative coordinate on the insert is derived. This transfer matrix is used to determine the new insert angle to maximize the flatness of the machined surface. A newly designed insert is manufactured, and used to carry out the experiment. It is proved that she insert designed by the proposed method produced a much flatter surface than a traditional one.

  • In this paper, numerical analyses of the flow within turbine for geometric conditions such as nozzle shape, length of axial clearance, and chamfer angle of leading edge of blade have been performed to investigate the partial admission supersonic turbine losses. Firstly, flow's bending occurred at axial clearance is depended on nozzle shape. Next, the chamfer angle of leading edge affects the strength of shock generated at the leading edge. Finally the expansion and mixsing of the flow within axial clearance are largely depended upon the length of axial clearance. Therefore it is found that aerodynamic losses of turbine is affected by nozzle shape and chamfer angel and that partial admission losses is depended on nozzle shape and the length of axial clearance.

  • It is very important to minimize the die roll height of gear, in order to maximize the shear cutting surface(tooth surface) of fine blanking. In this paper, the fine blanking tool sets were manufactured in order to study the die roll height according to V-ring position and die chamfer shape. They were constituted of the various die inserts and guide plate inserts with different die chamfer shape and different V-ring distance. The fine blanking experiment was conducted with the fine blanking tool sets and the die roll height of the gear samples was measured. It should be noted that die roll height on the fine blanked gear increased with increasing the V-ring distance and die chamfer angle.

  • In this study, Cu ferrite was machined with cermet tool to clarify the machinability. The main conclusions obtained were as follows. The tool wear becomes the smallest at the cutting speed of 90m/min with the depth of cut of 0.2mm. The surface roughness becomes larger with increasing the cutting speed and the chamfer angle. The tool with the chamfer angle of $15{\circ}$ shows the best performance. The surface roughness increases almost proportionally with the increase of the chip size. The tool wear decreases with increasing feed in the depth of cut not more than 0.2mm.
