  • When we use a Finite Elements Method (FEM) to solve a linear static analysis problem, number of elements need to be sufficiently small for convergence of the solution. If we analysis a part, whose curvature is varying heavily, we face to determine how small the elements size is, because the calculated stress is increased as the elements are smaller. In this case, we need to analysis with mesh insensitive method, stress linearization. We can get a solution that is not varying with the elements size if the size is smaller than a certain level. In this paper, we evaluate a pressure vessel having geometrical discontinuities using stress linearization. First, we analysis the vessel with global model, including all part of the vessel, using large shell elements. Second, we analysis the local part of the vessel, which is the small part occurring maximum stress, using small continuum elements. Last, we evaluate the safety of the pressure vessel according to the ASME Sec. VIII Div 2.

  • In this paper, stress contour plots depending on length, load, and diameter of the implant are presented. Depending on the condition and amount of cortical bone, process of implanting can be difficult and stress becomes important. Therefore deciding the right length and diameter of implant is critical. When analyzing stress in the implant, Von-mises yield criterion is often used; however, due to hardship of acquiring the actual material property of surrounding bones, simplified model of a implant was adapted in finite element analysis program of EDISON. The result acquired from EDISON program was then compared with results of different research papers.

  • We examined metabolic conversion of cysteine into glutathione (GSH) and taurine in rat liver under oxidative stress. Administration of tert-butylhydroperoxide (t-BHP) into the portal vein of male rats resulted in a rapid elevation of serum sorbitol dehydrogenase, alanine aminotransferase, and aspartate aminotransferase activities, which decreased gradually in 24 hr. Hepatic cysteine concentration was reduced in 3 hr, and recovered progressively, reaching a level greater than 200% of the normal value in 24 hr. GSH was increased both in liver and blood at 9 hr after t-BHP challenge, whereas hypotaurine or taurine was not altered. $\gamma$-Glutamylcysteine synthetase (GCS) activity was increased from 9 hr after t-BHP treatment, but protein expression of the GCS-heavy subunit was not changed in liver. Activity or expression of cysteine dioxygenase was not affected by t-BHP treatment. Taken together, these data show that an acute oxidant challenge to the rats may induce upregulation of cysteine availability and GCS activity, resulting in an enhancement of hepatic GSH synthesis, but the increased cysteine level does not stimulate taurine synthesis via cysteine sulfinate pathway. It is indicated that the regulation of GSH and taurine biosynthesis from cysteine is not solely dependent on the cysteine concentration in rat liver under oxidative stress.

  • In this paper, we write about EDISON program. We study about where to use this program. We can use this program for FEA naturally. But we study that using this program in class. Many students can't understand many mechanics of materials' problem. They want to see image such as change of beam. It can help students to understand many problem. We can use ANSYS or Abaqus. But EDISON program is better for students because of it is freeware. In this paper, I write two problem. One is peak stress of basic beam, another is shearing stress flow of I-beam. On the basis of this, EDISON program will be widely used.

  • In this paper, 2 kinds of models about bike frame are simulated with static structural analysis. A bike frame with diamond type is compared with another model that Down tube is eliminated from original diamond frame. About both types of models, Property of a material and conditions of restriction & load are the same. This study shows reinforcement effects of a partial frame by adding down tube and impacts generated by applying a load at the frame such as weak points & high stress parts as well as expected deformation. The structural result of this study indicates that the equivalent stress or total deformation decreases by 57.1% or 36.4%, respectively. Also stress concentration sites are leg connecting parts, front/rear wheels fixed region and Max deformation is generated from Seat tube. In conclusion, A Down tube is highly efficient as reinforcement than frame without non down tube. Furthermore, The safety rises in case of reducing top tube thickness and increasing a reinforcement at leg connecting parts or concentration regions.

  • In this paper, an systematic approach is presented, in which the bridge-type traffic sign structure is body out by CSDDA PrePost Processor. There is dead load and wind load that is working on the structure which will make force and moment. Analyzied the stress distribution of the standard form and by changing the shape, compared the safety in terms of deflection and stress (with the standard form) to know the effect of each component in the bridge-type traffic sign structure. The safety of deflection and stress is evaluated by maximum distance/100) and ASIC code respectively. The standard form of bridge-type traffic sign structure is established by two pairs of pillar and two pairs of floor beam. Replaced the links which is consist of flange and screws as the torsion spring and nm our analysis program. By adjusting variable of rigidity modulus of torsion spring, moment between column and beam is controled depending on value of rigidity modulus.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of emergency medical technicians' personal traits and job characteristics on job/social stress, job satisfaction, role conflicts, organizational commitment, and self-efficacy. The study population was emergency medical technicians who is working at the hospitals in Yeungnam province. The 200 questionnaires were administered by using ground mail, e-mail, and personal visits and 156 questionnaires were returned(82.5% response rate). Social stress, job satisfaction and role conflicts were significantly determined by personal traits and job characteristic variables. However, job stress, organizational commitment and self-efficacy was only significantly determined by job characteristic variables. In social stress and role conflicts, the subjects with challenge, sociability, acceptance and prudence traits were tend to be significantly higher scores compared to the stability traits. Additionally, among social stress regression models, adding job characteristics to the personal traits model, $R^2$ was increased up to 19% and adding personal traits to the job characteristics model, $R^2$ was increased up to 14%. In conclusion, the study found that personal traits and job characteristics are important variables in explaining social stress, job satisfaction and role conflicts, that would have important managerial implications for recruiting, hiring and managing either new or current emergency medical technicians efficiently.

  • Holes of rivets, bolts and nuts may cause stress concentration on the plates used in aircraft, ship and other structures. Excessive stress concentration may lead to severe breakage of the plates. Thus, accurate analysis of the stress concentration at the design stage will be important. In this paper, accuracy of EDISON program in stress concentration analysis was examined. By changing hole size on a narrow plate, the change of the stress concentration factor(K) was investigated. Additionally, the same experiment was conducted about series of holes on plate to investigate the interaction between adjacent holes. Then, these numerical results were compared with the analytic prediction. EDISON program showed very high accuracy about stress concentration, since the numerical results was correlated well with the analytic prediction.

  • Prior to the emergence of Covid-19, Saudi Arabia (SA) had never faced the challenge of dealing with a global pandemic. Significantly, the current crisis has impacted all industries and sectors in the country, including the healthcare system, and has led to an emphasis on human life being more precious and valuable than economic profit. This study focuses on the impact of Covid-19 on the health of nurses, including their quality of life, during 2020. Understanding the position of the nursing profession during the pandemic, including the most effective methods of preventing work-related stress is important. Information was acquired through an online survey method (i.e. self-completion), known as the Expanded Nursing Stress Scale (ENSS), which was distributed to nurses in all regions of SA. It was found that the main aspects impacting nurses' work-related stress include gender, employment type, training, and dealing with infected patients. In addition, they highlight that such stress plays a substantial role in patient safety and nurses' satisfaction at work, as well as the future survival of organizations. The emergence of Covid-19 as a novel infectious disease has increased nurses' uncertainty and work-related stress. The results of this research will provide insights into the views of both nurses and their managers, in order to identify the main indicators of stress.

  • An isolate of Pseudomonas putida has been found to aggressively colonize root tips and induce plant resistance to Fusarium wilt. However, P. putida mutants lacking Fe-superoxide dismutase (SOD) or both FeSOD and MnSOD activities are less competitive in root tip colonization. In the current study, the growth of an FeSOD mutant was found to be more sensitive than that of the wild-type or a MnSOD mutant to oxidative stress imposed by paraquat treatment and culturing with the soil fungus Talaromyces flavus, which generates reactive oxygen species. Also, the loss of culturability with an aging stationary-phase culture was greater for a double SOD mutant than an FeSOD mutant, while no reduction in culturability was observed with the wild-type and a MnSOD mutant under the same protracted stationary-phase conditions. Accordingly, it was concluded that FeSOD activity is the major form of SOD in P. putida and plays an essential role in survival under stress conditions when increased oxidative stress is encountered.
