적외선 렌즈용 Ge-Sb-Se계 칼코게나이드의 유리안정성 평가 (Glass Forming Stability in Chalcogenide-based GeSbSe Materials for IR-Lens)

  • Thermal and structural stability in the glass transition region of chalcogenide glasses has been investigated in terms of thermodynamics for application to various optoelectronic devices. In this study, the compositions of $Ge_xSb_{20}Se_{80-x}$ (x = 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30) were selected to investigate the glass stability according to germanium ratios. The chalcogenide bulks were fabricated by using a traditional melt-quenching method. Thin films were deposited by a thermal evaporation system, maintaining the deposition ratio of $3{\sim}5{\AA}$ in order to have uniformity. The thermal and structural properties were measured by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The DSC analysis provided thermal parameters and theoretical glass region stabilities. The XRD analysis supported the theoretical stabilities because of where the crystallization peak data occurred.

  • We have demonstrated new functionalities of Ag-doped chalcogenide glasses based on their capabilities as solid electrolytes. The influence of silver on the properties of the newly formed materials is regarded in terms of diffusion kinetics, and Ag saturation is related to the composition of the hosting material. Silver saturated in chalcogenide glass has been used in the formation of solid electrolyte, which is the active medium in the programmable metallization cell (PMC) device. In this paper, we investigated the optical properties of Ag-doped chalcogenide thin film by He-Ne laser beam exposure, which is concerned with the Ag-doping effect of PMCs before or after annealing. Chalcogenide bulk glass was fabricated by a conventional melt quenching technique. Amorphous chalcogenide and Ag thin films were prepared by e-beam evaporation at a deposition rate of about $4\;{\AA}/sec$. As a result of resistance change with laser beam exposure, the resistance abruptly dropped from the initial value of $1.4\;M{\Omega}$ to the saturated value of $400\;{\Omega}$.

  • Aspheric lenses used in the thermal imaging are typically fabricated using expensive single-crystal materials (Ge and ZnS, etc.) by the costly single point diamond turning (SPDT) process. As a potential solution to reduce cost, compression molding method using chalcogenide glass has been attracted to fabricate IR optic. Thermal deformation of a molded lens should be compensated to fabricate chalcogenide aspheric lens with form accuracy of the submicron-order. The thermal deformation phenomenon of molded lens was analyzed ant then compensation using mold iteration process is followed to fabricate the high accuracy optic. Consequently, it is obvious that compensation of thermal deformation is critical and useful enough to be adopted to fabricate the lens by molding method.

  • In this study, we synthesized the chalcogenide glass($Ge_{19}Sb_{23}Se_{58}$) for infrared optics by meltquenching method and verified the effect of cooling condition on the glass properties. The structural and optical properties of the glass were analyzed by XRD, FT-IR and SEM image. The glass synthesized under the cooling temperature of $980^{\circ}C$ shows transmittance of 58% at $8\sim12{\mu}m$, which was decreased as the cooling temperature was decreased. In addition, thermal and hardness also were measured. From the analysis results, we ascertained the feasibility as a molding materials for infrared optics.

  • 본 논문에서는 적외선 광학장비의 가격 경쟁력을 확보하고자 상대적으로 저렴한 비용으로 제작이 가능한 PGM(Precision Glass Molding) 가공 렌즈로 구성된, 비냉각형 검출기용 적외선 광학계를 설계 및 제작하였다. PGM 가공이 가능하도록 광학계의 모든 렌즈에 칼코게나이드 유리(Chalcogenide Glass) 소재를 사용하였으며, 자체 비열화가 구현되도록 설계하였다. 또한 기존 가공법인 SPDT(Single Point Diamond Turning) 방법으로 제작된 렌즈로, 동일한 광학계를 구성하여 PGM 가공 렌즈의 성능 측정에 사용하였다. 제작된 두 광학계의 변조전달함수(MTF) 측정 결과와 실제 영상의 촬영 결과를 비교하여 분석한 결과, 가공 방법에 따른 렌즈의 성능 차이는 그리 크지 않음을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 향후 PGM 가공 렌즈의 사용이 증가하면, 적외선 광학장비의 가격 경쟁력이 향상될 것으로 기대된다.

  • An increasing interest towards the investigations of chalcogenide glasses has been observed in the past years. This interest is due to their specific properties, as well as to the possibilities for their application in different fields of science. The optical devices, working on the basis of photoinduced phase transition between amorphous and crystalline state in the chalcogenide glasses, are a perspective for the micro- and nano-electronics. Here we were analysis basic physical properties for Ge-As-Se and As-Se chalcogenide glasses samples for characteristic for a planning of chalcogenide aspheric lens. From differential DTA/TG results, activation energies of the crystallizations of $Ge_{10}As_{40}Se_{50}$ and $As_{40}Se_{60}$ were approximately 3.6 eV and 3.3 eV, respectively.

  • The recent development of electro-optic devices and anticorrosion media has led to the necessity to investigate infrared optical systems with solid-solid interfaces of materials that often have the characteristic of amorphousness. One of the most promising classes of materials for those purposes seems to be the chalcogenide glasses. Chalcogenide glasses, based on the Ge-Sb-Se system, have drawn a great deal of attention because of their use in preparing optical lenses and transparent fibers in the range of 3~12 um. In this study, amorphous Ge-Sb-Se chalcogenide for application in an infrared optical product design and manufacture was prepared by a standard melt-quenching technique. The results of the structural, optical and surface roughness analysis of high purity Ge-Sb-Se chalcogenide glasses are reported after various annealing processes.

  • Ge-Sb-Se계 칼코게나이드 유리의 Melting 조건변화에 따른 특성변화를 연구하였다. Glass melting 조건(homogenization-temperature, homogenization-time, annealing) 에 따라 제작된 칼코게나이드 유리 bulk를 FT-IR, XRD, SEM 등의 분석장비를 이용하여 특성을 분석하였다. Homogenization temperature가 높을수록 석영관 급냉 시 발생되는 mechanical stress와 내부응력차로 인해 칼코게나이드 유리 깨짐현상이 증가하였으며 조성비와 melting 조건에 따라 XRD분석에서 확인되지 않는 미소결정이 SEM 분석결과 관찰되었다. 본 연구를 통해 칼코게나이드 유리의 melting 조건에 따른 경향성을 확인할 수 있었다.
