Enterprise Innovation in The Distribution Sector Such as Logistics and Trade Towards Green and Sustainable Development

  • Purpose: Despite significant commitments between corporations and the government on green supply chain, green logistics and sustainable production, the adoption of green and sustainable trading innovation in Vietnam continues to face many obstacles. The objective of this study is to approach the decision to adopt green and sustainable trading innovation from the perspective of the enterprise. Research Design, Methodology and Approach: A cross-sectional study with the participation of 651 employees and managers at distribution enterprises such as logistics, supply, and delivery enterprises in southern Vietnam was conducted to assess business innovation decisions through innovation awareness. Partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was proposed to evaluate the structural relationships of the model. Results: The research results show that the decision to innovate an enterprise is directly positively affected by the perception of marketing innovation, process innovation and organizational innovation; in which process innovation and organizational innovation are mediators for the perception of marketing innovation. Conclusions: This study makes a significant contribution by demonstrating the impact of marketing innovation awareness on the entire process that leads to enterprise innovation decisions to fulfil customer expectations and competitive pressure in the context of the green supply chain, green logistics and sustainable production.

Design of a Coordinating Mechanism for Multi-Level Scheduling Systems in Supply Chain

  • The scheduling problem of large products like ships, airplanes, space shuttles, assembled constructions, and automobiles is very complex in nature. To reduce inherent computational complexity, we often design scheduling systems that the original problem is decomposed into small sub-problems, which are scheduled independently and integrated into the original one. Moreover, the steep growth of communication technology and logistics makes it possible to produce a lot of multi-nation corporation by which products are produced across more than one plant. Therefore vertical and lateral coordination among decomposed scheduling systems is necessary. In this research, we suggest an agent-based coordinating mechanism for multi-level scheduling systems in supply chain. For design of a general coordination mechanism, at first, we propose a grammar to define individual scheduling agents which are responsible to their own plants, and a meta-level coordination agent which is engaged to supervise individual scheduling agents. Second, we suggest scheduling agent communication protocols for each scheduling agent topology which is classified according to the system architecture, existence of coordinator, and direction of coordination. We also suggest a scheduling agent communication language which consists of three layers : Agent Communication Layer, Scheduling Coordination Layer, Industry-specific Layer. Finally, in order to improve the efficiency of communication among scheduling agents we suggest a rough capacity coordination model which supports to monitor participating agents and analyze the status of them. With this coordination mechanism, we can easily model coordination processes of multiple scheduling systems. In the future, we will apply this mechanism to shipbuilding domain and develop a prototype system which consists of a dock-scheduling agent, four assembly-plant-scheduling agents, and a meta-level coordination agent. A series of experiment using the real-world data will be performed to examine this mechanism.

A Study on the Effect of Network Embeddedness on Collaboration and Performance in the Project Supply Chain : Focusing on Second-tier Suppliers (프로젝트 공급망에서 네트워크 배태성이 협업과 기업성과에 미치는 영향연구 : 2차 협력업체를 중심으로)

  • The rapid trends toward outsourcing have created more complex and fragmented multi-tier supply chains for Engineering, Procurement & Construction(EPC) industry. Working with suppliers and sub-suppliers requires continuous integration activities during project execution. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing the performances and relationship satisfaction of second-tier suppliers participating in the project-based supply chain. This study proposes the network embeddedness, collaboration, information-sharing and flexibility as antecedents variables, and collected the survey responses from the second-tier suppliers having experiences with complex projects. The statistical results indicate that the collaboration with supply chain leading firm and first-tier supplier has significant impact on the performances and relationship satisfaction of second-tier suppliers. It was also found that the information-sharing and flexibility influence the network embeddedness as well as collaboration, and that the embeddedness have significant impact on the collaboration.

  • Information lead time is defined as the time spent by processing orders from some buyers, whereas order lead time is defined as producing and supplying the products. The information lead time significantly serve to magnify the increase in variability due to demand forecasting. This paper models a decentralized supply chain composed of cascade type which has four type phases (or divisions) such as retailer, wholesaler, distributor, and factory. Each phases is managed by different centers individually with their own local inventory information. We investigate whether each phase's Information lead time affects companies networked a value chain. In particular, on several experiments performed with a programmed simulation (like a MIT beer game), we study the following question ; Can information lead times do better than material lead times in cost-benefit perspective\ulcorner Can more much Information lead times in downstream reasonably do worser than in upstream when playing the simulation\ulcorner In the conclusion, we show the importance of information lead time on a SC and, besides, guarantee that improvement of information lead time in upstream do more effective than one in downstream in cost-benefit perspective.

  • By applying AI-based efficient inventory management and logistics optimization technology using the smart factory's production plan and manufacturing data, the company's productivity improvement and customer satisfaction can be expected to increase. In this paper, we proposed a system that collects data from the factory's production process, stores it in the cloud, and uses the manufacturing data stored there to apply AI-based supply chain optimization technology later. While the existing system supported approximately 10 to 20 data types, the proposed system is designed and developed to support more than 100 data types. In addition, in the case of the collection cycle, data can be collected 1-2 times per second, and data collection in TB units is possible. Therefore This system is designed to be applied to the existing factory of past in addition to the smart factory.

  • In terms of realizing the future e-government such as intelligent government, this paper attempts to provide an earnest and insightful reflection and suggests desirable strategies with regard to the four different crucial elements including electronic voting, electronic contract, resident registration/electronic document management, and real-estate registration as an operating strategy of intelligent government and the fourth industrial revolution regarding. The 4th industrial revolution is aimed at concentrating information or data characterized with sharing, opening, communicating and releasing in cloud computing system, analyzing big data, collecting information, and flourishing people's well-being by information and communications technology with utilizing the smart devices. Therefore, reliability of the pivotal information or data is critical and it is important for the participants being transparently shared, without the data or information being forged. In this respect, introduction or application of block chain technology is essential. This paper will review preceding studies, discuss the aspect of the 4th industrial revolution and intelligent government, then suggest operating strategies in the field of electronic voting, electronic contract, management of resident registration and electronic document and real-estate registration.

Meta Knowledge for Effective Model Management in Web-based System (웹 기반 시스템에서 효과적 모델관리를 위한 메타지식)

  • Diverse requirements of users on web-based model management force a system agent to develop user-adaptive building a model in reality and providing an adequate solution method of the model. The relationship between models is important knowledge for the agent to effectively build a new model to adaptively adjust an existing model under a problem and to efficiently connect the new model into an adequate solution method. Since the generating process of the inter-model relationship is more difficult than the building a new model however the process mostly depends on the knowledge of operation research experts. Without the adequate scheme of the inter-model relationship the burden of the management for the agent increases rapidly and the quality of the services may worsen. This study shows that meta-knowledge generated from relationship between models is important for the user to build a model in reality and to acquire the solver appropriate to the model. The relationship that consists of common and exclusive objects between models can be represented by frames. The system under development to implement the idea includes user-adaptive ability which identifies a model through forward chaining method and searches the solver appropriate to the model by using the meta knowledge. We illustrate the meta knowledge with an applied delivery system in supply chain management.

The Effect of Power Type within Supply Chain on the Information Capability: Perspective of CSV Value Creation (공급사슬 내의 파워유형이 정보역량에 미치는 영향: CSV 가치창출 관점)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to attempt to incorporate power theory to evaluate information capability of SCM adopters. Therefore, this study focuses on the relationship of information sharing, partnership quality, and information capacity according to the power intensity of the variables of SCM. and CSV value creation. Design/methodology/approach The questionnaire of SCM builder was conducted and 302 samples were analyzed. Based on the theoretical background of power and information capacity, we set up a structural equation model. Hypothesis testing and statistical analysis were done through AMOS and SPSS. Findings First, it shows that the compensation power among the constrained power has a positive effect on the partnership quality, and the legitimacy power has the positive influence only on the information sharing. Compulsive power, compensation, and legitimacy, which are generally restrictive powers, may reduce the quality of information sharing and partnership, but the results of this study are rather higher. Second, both non-binding power expertise and criterion have a positive effect on information sharing and partnership quality. Third, information sharing has a positive effect on partnership quality. Supporting a number of research results, it is well reflected in SCM attributes where interdependence is important. Fourth, information sharing and partnership quality have a positive effect on information capacity. Information literacy has become an essential element in modern management. Fifth, the enhancement of CSV value creation plays a role of a controlling variable to further strengthen information sharing through non - binding power attribute, expertise and conformity. In addition, the strengthening of CSV value creation has been shown to play a role as a controlling variable to further strengthen the quality of partnership through the non-binding power attribution, but expertise has been rejected.

Optimization of Quantity Allocation using Integer Linear Programming in Shipbuilding Industry (정수 선형 최적화를 이용한 조선해양 의장품 제작 물량 할당에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we developed an allocation optimization system for supply chain management in the shipbuilding and offshore construction industry. Supply chain operation is a way of operating manufacturing company responsible for the procurement of outfitting parts. The method about how to allocate the manufacturing volume to each partner company includes important decisions. According to the allocation method, the stability of the material supplied to the final installation process is guaranteed. We improved the allocation method that was previously decided by the person in charge. Based on the optimization engine, a system is developed that can automatically allocate the production volume. For optimization model configuration, factors affecting the volume allocation were analyzed and modeled as constraint factors. A target function is defined to minimize the difference in the load variance of each partner company. In order to use the same type of volume allocation engine for various outfitting products, the amount of work done by the partner company was standardized. We developed an engine that can allocate the same production load of each production partner. Using this engine, the operating system was developed and applied to the actual offshore project. It has been confirmed that the work load variance of suppliers can be maintained uniformly using the optimization engine rather than manual method. By this system, we stabilize the manufacturing process of partner suppliers.

Anti-Fraud in International Supply Chain Finance: Focusing on Moneual Case

  • Purpose - This study analyzes the scope of due diligence and risks of banks and K-Sure in trade finance covered by EFF focusing on Moneual case, one of the latest and biggest trade finance fraud cases in Korea. Also, we suggest anti-fraud measures in trade finance on the part of banks and K-Sure in order to give them a desirable way of due diligence and reasonable risk management of export insurance. Design/methodology - Based on Moneual case of trade finance fraud, this study employs the methodology of an extended literature review and analysis of court decisions. Findings - Seoul High Court of Korea failed to decide whether K-Sure was wholly obliged to pay the insurance against the banks' EFF claims, but issued a compulsory mediation order, judging that both the banks and K-Sure were responsible by 50:50. The court may have judged that both the parties had lacked their due diligence in the trade finance. It is quite difficult for trade finance providers to manually investigate whether the transaction is suspected of trade finance fraud, so digitalization of trade finance which can facilitate the prevention and detection of trade fraud needs to be realized quickly. Since there has been no international rule available for open account trade finance up till now, clearly stipulated EFF terms on the exporter's genuine export obligation might have protected K-Sure from the disaster. Originality/value - This study investigates the due diligence of the banks and K-Sure in Moneual case which few researchers have considered, to the best of our knowledge. This study also suggests several practical methods (including block chain) to prevent complicating trade finance fraud amid increasing use of an open account, and further offers reasonable risk management of EFF employing international factoring rule which is also related to problematic open account trade finance.
