PERFORMANCE AND EXHAUST GAS CHARACTERISTICS ON DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER TRAP

  • Suddenly increasing numbers of automobiles result in making worse air pollution problems. In particular, the emissions from automobiles affect badly on atmosphere. Nowadays, research on catalyst converter and filter trap as a modem technology is very active because PM is designated as a major cancer material and stringent regulations on this are necessary and required. The ceramic filter is very efficient in reducing particular materials up to 80-90% and is evaluated as a very efficient after-treatment technology. However, it comes with decreased engine performance due to increased back-pressure occurred by thermal crack. In order to solve these problems, several methods are proposed such as fuel additive, electric heater and burner types. This experimental study has been conducted with equipped and unequipped a ceramic filter on a displacement 11,000cc diesel engine and compared in terms of engine performance and emission. To measure the emission, D-13 mode is applied and measured quantities of the exhaust gases, particularly in CO, HC, PM, and NOx. Therefore, this research is focused on the basic mechanism and characteristics on harmful materials generated by ceramic filter.

고유전율 유전체공진기를 이용한 초소형 듀플렉서 필터 개발 (Development of duplexer filters using high dielectric constant ceramic resonantors)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the miniaturized duplexer filter for mobile communications using high dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}$r > 100, 180) ceramic resonators. Duplexer filter was ocmposed of ceramic resonators which has been developed using BNT system and SCT system, respectively. Developed duplexer filter was formed to have Tx frequency band at 836.5 (($\pm$12.5)MHz and Rx frequency band at 881.5 ($\pm$12.5)MHz. Insertion loss at Tx frequency band was 1.41dB and 1.46dB, insertion loss at Rx frequency band was 3.49dB and 3.65dB, respectively. Especially, duplexer filters using dielectric cermaics with ${\varepsilon}$r = 180 were 8% smaller than commercially manufactured duplexer filters using dielectric ceramics with ${\varepsilon}$r = 90 by murata.

  • The key point that guarantees the durability of the ceramic monolith filter is to lower peak temperature and temperature gradient inside filter during regeneration. The control of the exhaust gas flow rate into the filter, by the bypass technique of the exhaust gas, enables the gas temperature in filter to be constant for regeneration. A couple of methods, which are the ON/OFF and PID control of the bypass valve, were used for feedback control of the gas temperature. These techniques showed that the ceramic filter was regenerated perfectly under the peak temperature and peak temperature gradient limitations for durability.

세라믹 캔들 필터 주위의 분진 속도분포 측정 (Measurements of Dust Velocity Field around the Ceramic Candle Filter)

  • 본 연구는 독일 Schumacher사의 1m 크기의 세라믹 캔들 필터가 1개 설치된 실험장치를 구성하여 집진시 단일 필터 주위에서의 분진 속도분포를 PDPA를 이용하여 측정하고, 분진층의 유무와 분진 투입 위치에 따른 분진 속도분포의 변화를 관찰하였다. 측정 결과 집진이 계속되어 필터 표면에 분진층이 발달함에 따라 집진 속도가 감소됨을 알 수 있었다. 특히, 투입구가 위치하는 필터표면에서 집중적으로 분진층이 발달하여 이곳에서의 분진 속도 감소가 크게 나타났다. 그리고 필터 내부와 압력용기부사이의 압력 차에 의한 필터 표면에서의 분진 속도 평균값은 0.28m/sec 이었다. 또한 분진 투입을 압력용기부 하단에 위치한 투입구로 투입하였을 때 필터 주위의 분진의 고른 속도분포를 관찰할 수 있었다.

세라믹튜브 및 패킹형플라스틱 여재충전 상향류식 혐기성여상에 의한 유가공 폐수처리 (Performances of Ceramic-tube and Pall-ring Upflow Anaerobic Filters Treating a Dairy Waste)

  • Laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate the performances of anaerobic filters packed with ceramic tube and pall-ring media treating a dairy waste. The media packing volume was 65% of effective volume of anaerobic filter. Organics removals of anaerobic filters were maintained above 80% even at an organics loading rate of $10kgCOD/m^3/d$, and this was comparable to aerobic treatment of organic wastes. Organics removals of the ceramic tube anaerobic filters were always lower than those of the pall-ring anaerobic filters due to intrinsic physical property of ceramic tube, especially lower void space which caused to clogging and entrapment of biogas, substrate transfer limitation, and irregular evolution of biogas leading to loss of solids and biomass. This was clearly observed in higher concentration of TSS in the effluent from the ceramic tube anaerobic filter despite of higher retention capacity of TSS compared with pall-ring media. Vertical distribution of organics and solids in the filters showed above 90% of organics and solids in influent were removed below 20% of reactor height, and 50% of remaining organics and solids were removed though media packing zone. Effluent quality from the anaerobic filter was heavily depended on media itself as well as suspended biomass formed below media. It is therefore concluded that the type of media played an important role in biomass accumulation arid gas-liquid-solid separation efficiency. Type of media did not affect the start-up behaviors of the anaerobic filter, and supernatant from anaerobic digested sludge showed a good performance as a seeding materials.

플라즈마 용사를 이용한 복합세라믹 미세필터 연구 (Study on Metal Microfilter Coated with Ceramics by Using Plasma Thermal Spray Method)

  • 본 논문은 세라믹과 금속파우더를 이용한 복합소재를 플라즈마 용사 방식으로 개발한 결과를 수록하였다. 사용된 세라믹 파우더는 $Al_2O_3+40TiO_2$ 이고 입자 크기는 $20{\mu}m$, $Al_2O_398+$파우더의 입자 크기는 $45{\mu}m$를 사용하였다. $20{\mu}m$, $30{\mu}m$$50{\mu}m$ 금속필터 입자는 SIKA-R 20IS, 30IS 및 50IS(소결금속필터)을 사용 했으며, $75{\mu}m$ 금속필터 입자는 5 겹 소결메쉬 필터를 사용��다. 용사 공정으로 가공된 복합 필터는 세라믹 파우더의 종류, 크기 및 코팅 두께에 따라 성능의 차이를 보였으나, 전반적으로 필터링 가능 능력은 향상되었다.

CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polishing) characteristics of langasite single crystals for SAW filter applications

  • Langasite is a promising new piezoelectric material for SAW filter application. Little was known until recently about the methods needed to mechanically polish and chemically polish/etch this material. In this experiment, polishing, slurry chemistry and chemical wet etching for langasite is described. Conventional quartz and LN ($LiNbO_3$) polishing methods did not produce satisfactory polished surfaces, and polishing with a colloidal silica slurries has shown to be most effective. The optimum condition was investigated by changing the slurry chemistry. As the planarization effect is very important in SAW filter applications, the examination of the effective particle number effect and the particle size effect was carried out. Z-cut langasite surface which had been polished with the colloidal silica slurries was etched in a variety of etchants. Conventional quartz etchants destroyed the polished surface. Other etchants formed a thin film on the surfaces. In this experiment, the reaction between langasite and a few etching solution was analysed. And an appropriate selective etchant solution for analyzing the defects was synthesized.

휘발성 유기화합물 제거를 위한 제강슬래그로 제조된 세라믹 여재의 흡착효율 (The adsorption efficiency of ceramic filter media prepared with the steel-making slag for the removal of VOCs)

  • 본 연구에서는 제강슬래그의 재활용 범위를 확대하기 위하여 제강슬래그를 접촉여재로 활용한 유기화합물의 흡 착성능을 평가하였다. 또한 표면에 미세한 기공을 가지고 있어 흡착여재와 여과필터로 많은 연구가 되어온 규조토를 제강 슬래그와 혼합하여 세라믹 여재를 만들고 유기화합물 흡착 특성을 평가하였다. 유기화합물로는 아세틸알데히드, 포름알데히드, 암모니아 기체를 사용하였으며, 각각 80%, 96%, 85%의 흡착 효율을 나타내었다. 사용된 모든 기체에 대해서 80% 이상의 흡착효율을 나타내어 흡착여제로의 활용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 다공성 세라믹 필터를 사용하는 집진장치에서 역세정 과정의 유동특성을 규명하고, 역세정 시스템 설계에 적용하기 위한 전산해석을 수행하였다. 주요 연구내용으로는 역세정 과정에서 중요한 변수인 노즐 직경, 노즐 팁의 위치, 다공성 세라믹 캔들필터의 투과율, 디퓨저 형상, 역세정 압력 등이 집진장치 내부에서의 속도분포, 압력분포 등 역세정 유동특성에 미치는 영향을 상세히 계산하여 역세정 시스템의 사양 설계에 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 전산해석에는 상용의 FLUENT code를 사용하여 에너지 보존식을 포함한 압축성 축대칭 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 유한체적법 (Finite volume method)으로 해석하였다.
