Zr(n-OC$_4$H$_9$)$_4$의 가수분해에 의한 선분산 지르코니아 분체의 합성에서 분산제 HPC의 첨가효과 (Effect of HPC Dispersant on Synthesis of Monodispersed Hydrated Zirconia Powder by Hydrolysis of Zr-n-butoxide)

  • In the present study adding hydroxypropyl celluose as dispersant to the ethanol solution of Zr-butoxide prior to starting the hydrolysis reaction, spherical and submicrometer sized hydrated zirconia powders were synthesized successfully. But syntesized hydrated zirconia powders were soluble considerably in ethanol used as washing medium. Washing once the powder with plenty amount of water after washing thrice it with acetone, reaction mother solution remained between the particles was effectively removed and the particles were converted to insoluble state to ethanol at the same time. As a result of such washing processes it was able to prevent the formation of polydispersed, agglomerated and multiplet particles almost always even when such concentrated solutions of Zr-n-butoxide as 0.5 M were hydrolyzed.

수용액 매체에서 젤-케스팅 공정을 이용한 세라믹 코어 제조에 관한 연구(I) : 다성분계 분산 세라믹 슬립의 젤화 거동 (Study on the Fabrication of Ceramic Core using a Gel-casting Process in Aqueous medium(I) : Gelation Behavior of Polydispered Ceramic Slip)

  • 수용액 매체에서 젤케스팅을 이용하여 복잡한 형상의 세라믹스를 제조하기 위한 새로운 공정을 연구하였다 용융실리카 분말과 첨가제로서 지르콘과 코디어라이트 조성으로 혼합된 현탁액을 electrosteric 방법으로 안정화시켰다. 슬립은 다성분계 세라믹 현탁액에 단량체, 이량체 그러고 분산제를 혼합하고, 볼밀하여 준비하였다. 슬립의 유동학적 특성을 평가하기 위해 점도를 측정하였으며 , 낮은 점도를 갖는 50vo1%의 고농도 다성분계 세라믹 슬립의 제조가 가능하였다. 슬립의 점도는 고분자 분산제의 함량과 단량체 및 이량체의 혼합비에 크게 의존하였다. 성형체는 안정화시킨 슬립을 몰드에 부어 상온에서 젤화시킨 후 $25^{\circ}C$, 80~85% 상대습도 분위기 하에서 48시간동안 건조시켜 제조하였으며 건조된 성형체에는 균열이 발생하지 않았다.

Tape casting 법을 이용한 적층형 세라믹 액츄에이터의 제작 (Fabrication of Multilayer Ceramic Actuator using Tape Casting Method)

  • The rheological characteristics of PNN-PZT ceramics with high electromechanical coupling factor and electricstrictive constant was investigated. Green sheets of piezoelectric PNN-PZT ceramics were made by tape-casting method with controlling the mixing ratio of a dispersant, an organic binder, and a plasticizer. When the dispersant content was 1 wt.%, the slurry showed the best rheological characteristics for tape casting. The amounts of the plasticizer and the binder was simultaneously varied in the ranges of 1.5~18 and 3~9 wt.%, respectively. When both the plasticizer and binder of 6 wt.% mixed in the solution, respectiveley, the highest green density of the sheet was obtained without macrodefects. Multilyered structures of PNN-PZT/Ag-Pd were successfully fabricated using the optimized tape casting condition. The polarization behavior of these actuators seemed to similar to typical electricstrictive polarization behavior. The multilayer ceramic actuator is about $0.6{\times}10^{-3}$ of strain.

  • 본 연구에서는 겔캐스팅법의 제조공정 확립을 위하여 분산제의 분자구조가 질화규소 슬립의 점성특성 및 성형체의 상대밀도와 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 슬립과 겔캐스팅 성형체의 제조방법은 기보고된 방법과 동일하게 하였다. 그 결과, 겔캐스팅 슬립의 점성은 분산제의 분자구조와 모노머와 분산제의 구성비율에 크게 의존하였다. PMAA 분산제를 사용한 슬립의 점성은 PAA 및 PAAm 분산제 보다 높은 점도를 나타내었다. 성형체의 상대밀도는 슬립의 농도에 크게 의존하였으며, 분산제양과 모노머의 양변화에는 그다지 변화가 없었다. 그리고, 겔캐스팅 성형체의 기계적 특성은 크게 모노머의 농도에 의존하였으며, 분산제양과 슬립의 농도에는 큰 변화가 없었다.

습식 체분리법을 이용한 알루미나분말 중의 조대입자 함량평가 (Measurement of Coarse Particle Mass in Alumina Powders Using Wet Sieve Method)

  • 세라믹 분말을 이용하여 슬러리와 분산제의 농도에 따른 조대입자 함량평가에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 시판용의 알루미나 분말을 조대입자 분리용 시료로 사용하였으며, 분산제로는 sodium hexametaphosphate와 sodium polyacrylate를 사용하였다. 알루미나 농도의 증가 및 분산제 농도의 감소에 따라 조대입자의 함량이 증가하였다. 슬러리 내의 시료농도가 1.0wt%이고, 시료에 대해 1.0wt%의 분산제를 첨가하였을 때 조대입자의 함량이 가장 작게 측정됨을 알 수 있었다. 고분자 분산제인 sodium polyacrylate를 사용하여 sodium hexametaphosphate보다 조대입자의 함량이 크게 측정되었다. 실험횟수가 증가함에 따라, 체의 질량이 일정한 비율로 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 조대입자의 함량을 알고 있는 임의의 슬러리를 제조하여 실험을 실시한 결과, 본 연구에서 사용한 습식 체분리 방법은 조대입자 함량평가에 적합한 것으로 사료된다.

Optimization of Barium Titanate Slip for Tape Casting Using Design of Experiments

  • A full-factorial design of experiments with three input factors and two levels for each factor including center points was utilized for the preparation and characterization of twelve types of $BaTiO_3$ slips for tape casting. Ceramic powders with different particle sizes, different milling methods such as high energy milling and conventional ball milling, and two types of dispersant with different polymeric species were chosen as input factors in order to investigate their effects on slip and on green tape properties. Tape casting, a small rectangular-shaped K-square preparation, characterization and quantitative data analysis using statistical software were followed. Ceramic powder was the most significant among three input factors for the output responses of slip viscosity and green tape density, showing more favorable results with large particles than with very fine ones. In addition, high energy milling for only 30 min was more efficient than 24h of conventional ball milling in terms of powder dispersion and milling. The optimum condition based on the experimental results was a slip exposed to high energy milling with large ceramic particles along with a methylethyl acetate dispersant.

  • Zeta potential, sedimentation bulk density and rheology in the dispersion system have been studied in terms of solid loading (40-55 vol%), and types of additives. Ammonium polymethacrylate, glycerol, ethoxylated acetylenic diol, and polyvinyl alcohol have been used as the dispersant, cryo-protectant, surfactant, and binder, respectively. Sedimentation density greatly increased upon adding dispersant; the effect was more pronounced with ionic alumina suspension compared with covalent silicon carbide. With further addition of cryo-protectant and surfactant to dispersant, the sedimentation density increased somewhat. The suspension viscosity generally behaviored in an opposite manner to the sedimentation density, i.e., high sedimentation gave low high-shear viscosity, indicative of low order structure formation in the suspended particles. Shear rate rheology in shear rate of $2-300\;sec^{-1}$ showed a shear thinning and its onset began at similar shear rate (${\sim}100\;sce^{-1}$), regardless of solid loading.

  • The dispersion characteristics of AlN-4.5 wt% $Y_2O_3$ powder mixture by various dispersants were investigated in ethanol and methyethly-ketone (MEK) solvents. In general, the cationic polymer dispersants demonstrated superior dispersion of the powder as compared to the non-ionic ester-type dispersants or anionic phosphate-ester-based ones. The dispersion performance of the cationic polymer dispersants was sensitive to the type of solvent. An anhydric maleic-acid-based graft copolymer dispersant, AFB-1521, demonstrated a very good dispersion capability in ethanol but exhibited a much inferior dispersion in MEK. On the other hand, the dispersion of the powder mixture was very good with a phosphate-ester-based block polymer dispersant, BYK-111, in MEK solvent, while dispersionwas much degraded in ethanol.

적층 평판형 SOFC에서 LSM 전극의 기공 제어 (Porosity Control in LSM Electrode Formation in Layered Plannar SOFC Module)

  • In solid oxide fuel cell system, yttria-stabilized zirconia is generally adopted as the electrolyte, which has high strength and superior oxygen ion conductivity, and the air electrode and the fuel electrode are attached to this. Recently, new structure of 'layered planar SOFC module' was suggested to solve the reliability problem due to the high temperature stability of a sealing agent and a binding material. In this study to materialize the air electrode in a layered planar SOFC module, the LSM ink was coated to form homogeneous electrode in the channel after the ink preparation. As the porosity control agent, PMMA or active carbon powder was adopted with use of a commercial dispersant in ethanol. The optimal amounts of both the porosity control agents and the dispersant were determined. Four (4) vol% of the dispersant for the LSM-PMMA case and 15 vol% for LSM-carbon powder showed the lowest viscosities respectively to indicate the best dispersed states of the slurries. With PMMA and carbon powder, sintered LSM ink shows the relatively homogeneous distributions of pores and with increases of the agents, the porosities increased in both cases. From this, it can be thought that the amount of the PMMA or carbon powder could be used to control the porosity of the LSM ink.

Ni-Zn-Cu계 페라이트 시트에서 충진 밀도에 따른 시트 휨 현상 (The Effect of Packing Density on the Warpage Behavior of Ni-Zn-Cu Ferrite Sheets)

  • It is necessary for ferrite sheets to be fabricated with high packing density for excellent electrical properties and high strength. In this study, the relationship between the warpage and the packing density of ferrite green sheet, was investigated with amount variation of organic additives. With 0.4 wt% of dispersant, the packing density was about 48% and warpage appeared 0.5~1.3 mm high. With 1.4 wt% of dispersant, the packing density increased up to 57% and warpage appeared 0.8~2.1 mm high. With high packing density, warpage appeared along the edges of specimen, while with low packing density, deformation appeared over whole specimen inhomogeneously. It is thought that inhomogeneous deformation after sintering came from the inhomogeneity in green sheet prepared with badly dispersed slurry. With good homogeneity in green sheet from well-dispersed slurry, isotropic shrinkage is thought to have occurred along the distance from center to edges of specimen during sintering.
