세라믹 인서트를 이용한 단조 금형설계 (Forging Die Design using Ceramic Insert)

  • The use of ceramic inserts in steel forging tools offers significant technical and economic advantages over other materi-als of manufacture. These potential benefits can however only be realised by optimal design of the tools so that the ceramic insert are not subjected to stresses that led to their premature failure. In this paper the data on loading of the tools is determined from a commercial forging simulation package as the contact stress distribution on the die-workpiece interface and as temperature distributions in the die. This data can be processed as load input data for a finite-element die-stress analysis. Process simulation and stress analysis are thus combined during the design and a data exchange program has been developed that enables optimal design of the dies taking into account the elastic detections generated in shrink fitting the die inserts and that caused by the stresses generated in the forging process. The stress analysis of the dies is used to determine the stress conditions on the ceramic insert by considering contact and interference effects under both mechanical and thermal loads. Simulation results have been validated as a result of experimental investigation. Laboratory tests on ceramic insert dies have verified the superior performance of the Zirconia and Silicon Nitride ceramic insert in order to prolong maintenance life.

  • The use of hexagonal ceramic inserts for copper extrusion dies offers significant technical and economic advantages over other forms of manufacture. In this paper the data on the loading of the tools is determined from a commercial FEM package as the contact stress distribution on the die-workpiece interface and as temperature distributions in the die. The shrink fit analysis has been performed that enables optimal design of the dies taking into account the elastic deflections which generated in shrink fitting the die inserts and that caused by the stresses generated in the process and by using DEFORM software for process analysis. This data can be processed as load input data for a finite element die-stress analysis. Process simulation and stress analysis are thus combined during the die design. The stress analysis of the dies is used to determine the stress conditions on the ceramic insert by considering contact and interference effects under both mechanical and thermal loads. The results are compared with the experimental ones for verification.

주조도재관과 도재전장주조관의 치경부 변연적합도에 관한 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Marginal Fit between Castable Ceramic(Dicor) Crowns and Metal-Ceramic Crowns)

  • The recently introduced castable glass ceramics incorporate properties characteristic of natural teeth and they are regarded as an ideal material to restore lost tooth structure. The purpose of this study was to compare the marginal fit of castable ceramic crown with that of the metal-ceramic crown in the process of heat treatment. Two master dies for castable ceramic crowns and metal-ceramic crowns were fabricated from being cast with the base metal. Each master die was duplicated with addition silicone and hard stone. Ten castable ceramic crowns were made on each hard stone die and their marginal openings were measured three times first, after casting; second, after ceramming; third, after shading. The other ten metal-ceramic crowns were made on each hard stone die and their marginal openings were measured three times : first, after casting; second, after degassing; third, after porcelain veneering. Each crown was seated on its master die with the constant force delivered by loading jig. And then, marginal openings were measured on four locations by optical projector at X50 magnification. The results were as follows: 1. The mean marginal openings of castable ceramic crowns were $31.1{\pm}12.7{\mu}m$ after casting; $44.6{\pm}12.8{\mu}m$ after ceramming; $51.2{\pm}16.8{\mu}m$ after shading. 2. The mean marginal openings of the metal-ceramic crowns were $26.2{\pm}13.8{\mu}m$ after casting; $29.8{\pm}10.3{\mu}m$ after degassing; $38.0{\pm}14.5{\mu}m$ after porcelain veneering. 3. There was significant increase in the marginal opening of castable ceramic crowns after ceramming, while metal-ceramic crowns sho(wed significant increase after porcelain veneering (p<0.05). 4. Marginal fit of metal-ceramic crown was better than that of castable ceramic crown (p<0.01).

Collarless도재소부전장금관의 제작방법에 따른 치경부 변연적합도에 관한 실험적 연구 (AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE CERVICAL MARGIN FITNESS IN THE COLLARLESS METAL CERAMIC CROWNS FORMED BY DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cervical margin fitness in the collarless metal ceramic crowns formed by different techniques. Specimens were divided as follows : the metal ceramic crowns with metal butt margin as group I, the collarless metal ceramic crowns formed with resin binder technique as group II, and the collarless metal ceramic crowns formed with shoulder powder mixed with phosphate-bonded investment liquids on a refractory die as group III. Each group was made of five specimens, and their marginal fitness on each epoxy die was evaluated under scanning electron microscope of x200 magnification at three measuring points : mesial, central, distal. The following results were obtained. 1. The metal ceramic crowns with metal butt margin exhibited significantly better marginal fitness than the collarless metal ceramic crowns. The marginal fitness in descending order was group I, III, II. 2. The collarless metal ceramic crown formed with resin binder technique had the worst marginal fitness & showed cervical color variation and dermacation between the corrected porcelain & the dentin porcelain. 3. The collarless metal ceramic crowns formed with shoulder powder mixed with phosphate-bonded investment liquids on a refractory die exhibited significantly better marginal fitness & sharper marginal configuration than the other collarless group.

적층형 세라믹 엑추에이터를 이용한 MEMS용 압전밸브의 제작 및 특성 (Fabrication and Characteristics of a Piezoelectric Valve for MEMS using a Multilayer Ceramic Actuator)

  • We report on the development of a Piezoelectric valvc that is designed to have a high reliability for fluid control systems, such as mass flow control, transportation and chemical analysis. The valve was fabricated using a MCA(multilayer ceramic actuator), which has a low consumption power, high resolution and accurate control. The fabricated valve is composed of MCA, a valve actuator die and an seat die. The design of the actuator dic was done by FEM(finite element method) modeling, respectively. And, the valve seat die with 6 trenches was made. and the actuator die, which possible to optimize control to MCA, was fabricated. After Si-wafer direct bonding between the seat die and the actuator die, MCA was also anodic bonded to the scat/actuator die structure. PDMS(poly dimethylsiloxane) sealing pad was fabricated to minimize a leak-rate. It was also bonded to scat die and stainless steel package. The flow rate was 9.13 sccm at a supplied voltage of 100 V with a 50 % duty ratio and non-linearity was 2.24 % FS. From these results, the fabricated MCA valve is suitable for a variety of flow control equipments, a medical bio-system, semiconductor fabrication process, automobile and air transportation industry with low cost, batch recess and mass production.

  • In the fabrication of alumina-based multilayer ceramics sintering shrinkages with lamination conditions such as lamination pressure temperature and laminating with and without press die were compared. The sintering shrinkage was affected substantially by lamination pressure and temperature and in the case of laminatino without press die the lower laminated density and a large difference in shrinkage with direction were observed. These results can be explained by introducing a new factor which is the ratio of the changes of areas before and after lamination.

  • In the present investigation, a high precision thermal imprint system for micro ceramic products was developed and the net-shape manufacturing of multi-layer ceramic reflector for LED (Light Emitting Diode) was conducted with a precision metal die. Workpiece used in the present investigation were the multi-layer laminated ceramic sheets with pre-punched holes. The cavity with arbitrary angle was formed on the circular and rectangular holes of the ceramic sheets. During the imprinting process, the ambient temperature of the imprint system was kept over the transition temperature of the ceramic sheet and then rapidly cooled. The results in this paper show that the present method can be successfully applied to the fabrication of very small size hole array for ceramic reflector in a one step operation.

  • In manufacturing the all-ceramic crown whick look close to natural teeth, the effectiveness of the improved technique is expectected the technique of the heat treatment of gold plating coating die was experimented of a refractory cast model. The following results were obtainde 1. An advantage of build up on east die with out manufacturing veneer, crown, core, or masking(reduction of technical process, and retrenchment of time and money) 2. Esthetically more close to natural teeth than other technique 3. Easy to remove a refractors cast die 4. In manufacturing ceramo-metal crown the enomous effectiveness was obtainde on applying in the areas of cervical margin, the metal surface, and in the treatment of pinhole.

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication and characteristics of a micromachined piezoelectric valve utilizing a multilayer ceramic actuator (MCA). The micromachined MCA valve, which uses a buckling effect, consists of three separate structures: the MCA, the valve actuator die and the seat die. The valve seat die with 6 trenches was made, and the actuator die, which is driven by the MCA under optimized conditions, was also fabricated. After Si wafer direct bonding between the seat die and the actuator die, the MCA was also anodically bonded to the seat/actuator die structure. A polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) sealing pad was fabricated to minimize the leak rate. Finally, the PDMS sealing pad was also bonded to the seat die and the stainless steel package. The MCA valve shows a flow rate of 9.13 sccm at an applied DC voltage of 100 V with a 50% duty cycle and a maximum non-linearity of 2.24% FS. Therefore, the fabricated MCA valve is suitable for a variety of flow control equipment, as a medical bio-system and in the automobile industry.
