CuCl 미립자 분산 붕괴산염계 비선형 광학유리에서 매질유리의 상분리와 CuCl 미립자의 석출 특성 (Phase Separation of Matrix Glasses and Precipitation Characteristics of CuCl Nanocrystals in CuCl Doped Borosilicate Glasses for Nonlinear Optical Application)

  • To investigate an effect of phase separation on precipitation characteristics of CuCl nanocrystals in CuCl doped nonlinear optical glasses, borosilicate glass systems with 9 different compositions with ~2wt% of CuCl were selected and CuCl doped glasses were prepared by melting and precipitation method. Microstructural properties of the CuCl doped glasses were analyzed by optical absorption spectroscopy, acid elution test, TEM, and EDXS. While phase separation did not occur in Glass A~D, interconnected and droplet microstructures due to phase separation were found in Glass E, F and Glass G~I, respectively. In the particular composition of the matrix glasses in this study, the precipitation of the CuCl particles was observed in the phase separable glasses, not in phase non-separable glasses. The CuCl particles were precipitated in both silica-rich phase region and boronrich phase region of the glass matrix. In the case of 7.7Na2O-36.6B2O3-52.7SiO2(mole%) glass, the larger CuCl particles than those in the silica-rich phase region were observed in the boron-rich phase region.

Chemical and Micro-Structural Changes in Glass-Like Carbon during High Temperature Heat Treatment

  • A glass-like carbon was fabricated using furan resin. The influence of heat treatment temperature during fabrication process on the chemical and micro-structural changes was studied by various analytical and spectroscopic methods including TGA, FT-IR, CHN, TEM and XRD. The chemical resistance properties of the fabricated glass-like carbon were also investigated. It has been found that the heat-treated samples at higher temperature up to 2600 $^{\circ}C$ in $N_2$ atmosphere had little weight loss, small amounts of functional groups, and high carbon content. The fabricated glass-like carbons upon heat treatment at 2600 $^{\circ}C$ showed an amorphous stage without any grain growth and/or reconstruction of structure. The glass-like carbon had much better chemical resistance than the artificial graphite, and exhibited a high chemical resistance due to its low surface areas, minimum impurities, and low graphite crystallites.

알루미나에 코팅된 생체활성유리의 결정화에 따른 수산화 아파타이트 형성 (Hydroxyapatite Formation on Crystallized Bioactive Glass Coat on Alumina)

  • 생체활성 유리를 알루미나 기판에 코팅하고 이를 유사 생체 용액에 반응시켰을 때 코팅 유리층 표면에 생성된 수산화 아파타이트 형성 거동 변화에 대하여 연구하였다. 알루미나에 코팅된 생체 활성 유리를 여러 온도에서 열처리하였을 때 다양한 종류의 결정상이 나타났으며, 특히 110$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리하였을 때는 $\beta$-wollastonite와 apatite, 120$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리하였을 때는 $\alpha$-wollastonite와 apatite가 생성되었다. 이들 시편을 tris-완충용액에 반응시켰을 때, $\alpha$-wollastonite 결정의 부식 속도가 $\beta$-wollastonite의 부식 속도보다 빨랐다. 그리고 이들 시편을 유사 생체 용액과 반응시켰을 때는 두 코팅층 표면에서 수산화 아파타이트가 형성되었는데, 그 형성 속도는 $\alpha$-wollastonite가 포함된 시편에서 더 빨랐다.

Structural, Optical, and Chemical Properties of Cadmium Phosphate Glasses

  • In this study, we prepared cadmium phosphate glasses with various compositions, given by $xCdO-(100-x)P_2O_5$ (x = 10-55 mol%), and analyzed their Fourier transform infrared spectra, dissolution rate, thermal expansion coefficient, glass transition temperature, glass softening temperature, and optical band gap. We found that the thermal expansion coefficient and dissolution rate increased while the glass transition temperature and glass softening temperature decreased with increasing CdO content. These results suggest that CdO acts as a network modifier in binary phosphate glass and weakens its structure.

V2O5-P2O5-ZnO-Sb2O3 Glass Frit Materials with BaO and Al2O3 for Large-sized Dye-sensitized Solar Cell Sealing

  • $V_2O_5-P_2O_5-ZnO-Sb_2O_3$ glasses modified with BaO and $Al_2O_3$ are synthesized as a sealing material for large-scale dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). A compositional study is performed in order to determine the glass that can be sintered below $500^{\circ}C$ with a high chemical stability against the electrolyte. The flow size of the glasses after the heat treatment and the glass stability are increased with the addition of $Al_2O_3$ and BaO, while the glass transition temperature is decreased. After the reaction with the electrolyte at $60^{\circ}C$ for 72 h, the addition of 5 mol% of BaO and 2 mol% of $Al_2O_3$ considerably enhances the chemical stability of the glass. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) are used to examine the reaction between the electrolyte and glasses. The structural contribution of the additives is also investigated and discussed.

  • ITO coated glass, bare glass, 그리고 (100)Si 기판 위에 증착된 $(BaSr)TiO_3$ 박막의 구조는 기판의 종류에 관계없이 변하지 않았으나 결정성은 다결정 ITO층과 (100)Si 기판에 있어서 증대되었다. ITO coated glass 기판 위에 증착된 $(BaSr)TiO_3$ 박막의 조성은 거의 화학양론적으로 일치하였으며 ((Ba+Sr)/Ti=1.08~1.09) 증착 중 상당히 치밀하고 균질하였다. 그러나 증착온도가 증가함에 따라 성장한 박막과 ITO층 사이에, 그리고 ITO층과 base glass 사이에 확산이 보다 심화되었다. ITO coated glass 기판 위에 증착된 $(BaSr)TiO_3$ 박막은 상당히 투명하였으며(투과율 약 80%) 굴절률($n_f$)은 기판온도의 증가에 따라 2.138~2.286이었다.

Additional Study on the Laser Sealing of Dye-Sensitized Solar-Cell-Panels Using V2O5 and TeO2 Containing Glass

  • The effective glass frit composition used to absorb laser energy and to seal commercial dye-sensitized solar cell panel substrates has been previously developed using $V_2O_5-TeO_2$-based glass with 10 wt% ${\beta}$-eucryptite as a CTE controlling filler. The optimum sealing conditions are provided using a 3 mm beam, a laser power of 40 watt, a scan speed of 300 mm/s, and 200 irradiation cycles. In this study, the feasibility of the developed glass frit is investigated in terms of the sealing strength and chemical durability against the commercial iodide/triiodide electrolyte solution and fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) electrode in order to increase the solar cell lifetime. The sealing strength of the laser-sealed $V_2O_5-TeO_2$-based glass frit is $20.5{\pm}1.7MPa$, which is higher than those of thermally sealed glass frit and other reported glass frit. Furthermore, the developed glass frit is chemically stable against electrolyte solutions. The glass frit constituents are not leached out from the glass after soaking in the electrolyte solution for up to three months. During the laser sealing, the glass frit does not react with the FTO electrode; thus, the resistivity of the FTO electrode beneath the laser-sealed area remains the same.

저온소결용 $ZnAl_2O_4$ 세라믹스의 합성 및 유전 특성 (Synthesis and dielectric properties of the $ZnAl_2O_4$ ceramics for low-firing)

  • Synthesis and dielectric properties of glass-ceramic composites with zinc borosilicate glass(here after ZBS glass) were investigated as functions of $ZnAl_2O_4$ phase synthesis method, glass addition (50~60 vol%) and sintering temperature ($600{\sim}950^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs). The 50 vol% ZBS glass-$Al_2O_3$ and 60 vol% ZBS glass-$ZnAl_2O_4$ ensured successful sintering below $900^{\circ}C$. But the composition of 100-x-y vol% ZBS glass-x vol% $Al_2O_3-y$ vol% ZnO exhibited poor sinterability below $900^{\circ}C$ and the swelling phenomenon occurred in this composite with the large amount of ZBS glass. The sintering behavior of Glass-ceramic composites was affected by the crystallization of $ZnAl_2O_4$ which was formed by the reaction between ZBS glass and $Al_2O_3$. Dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$), $Q{\times}f$ value and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (${\tau}_f$) of the composite with 50 and 60 vol% ZBS glass contents demonstrated $ZBS-Al_2O_3({\varepsilon}_r=5.7)$, $ZBS-ZnAl_2O_4({\varepsilon}_r=5.8)$ which is applicable to substrate requiring an low dielectric properties.
