On Slope Rotatability of Central Composite Designs of the Second Type

  • Kim(2002) proposed a second type of central composite design (CCD2), in which the positions of the axial points are indicated by two numbers. In this paper, we study properties of CCD2 when we are interested in estimating the slope of a response surface. Conditions are obtained for CCD2 to be slope-rotatable over axial directions, and some CCD2's are presented that have slope rotatability over axial directions. Also values of a measure of slope rotatability over axial directions are tabulated for various CCD2's. Finally, it is shown that CCD2 is always slope-rotatable over all directions.

  • Kim(2002)은 축점의 위치가 두 개의 수에 의하여 정해지는 제2종의 중심합성계획을 제시하고 이를 CCD2라 불렀다. 본 논문에서는 CCD2를 더욱 연구하여 몇 가지의 새로운 사실을 밝혔다. 직교성과 회전성, 직교성과 기울기회전성, 회전성과 균등정밀성을 동시에 갖는 CCD2들을 구하였으며, Park과 Kim(1992)이 제시한 기울기회전성의 측도를 이러한 CCD2들에 적용하여 그 결과를 관찰하였다.

  • Response surface designs can be classified, according to the shape of the experimental region, into spherical designs and cuboidal designs. Among the central composite design(CCD)s and the Box-Behnken design(BBD)s that are popular in practice, when the number of factors is k, spherical designs are tile CCDs with the axial value being $\sqrt{\textit{k}}$ and the BBDs, and cuboidal designs are the CCDs with the axial value being 1. With the CCDs having $\sqrt{\textit{k}}$ as the axial value, the radius of the experimental region varies with number of factors, but these designs are the 5-level designs. With the BBDs that are 3-level designs, the radius of the experimental region does not vary with the number of factors. In this article, we propose tile 3-level spherical designs which are constructed so that tile radius of the experimental region varies with the number of factors.

설계기반 품질고도화에서 디자인 스페이스 구축을 위한 효율적인 실험계획 (Efficient Designs to Develop a Design Space in Quality by Design)

  • Purpose: We research on the efficient response surface methodology(RSM) design to develop a design space in Quality by Design(QbD). We propose practical designs for the successful construction of the design space in QbD by allowing different number of replicates at the box points, star points, and the center point in the rotatable central composite design(CCD). Methods: The fraction of design space(FDS) plot is used to compare designs efficiency. The FDS plot shows the fraction of the design space over which the relative standard error of predicted mean response lies below a given value. We search for practical designs whose minimal half-width of the tolerance interval per a standard deviation is less than 4.5 at 0.8 fraction of the design space. Results: The practical designs for the number of factors between two and five are listed. One of the designs in the list could be chosen depending on the experimental budget restriction. Conclusion: The designs with box points replications are more efficient than those with the star points replication. The sequential method to establish a design space is illustrated with the simulated data based on the two examples in RSM.

중심합성계획법에 의한 남부 조생벼 재배요인의 최적조건 구명 (Optimization of Cultivational Conditions of Rice(Oryza sativa L.) by a Central Composite Design Applied to an Early Cultivar in Southern Region)

  • 수도재배에 있어서 수량은 여러 가지 요인이 복합적으로 작용하여 나타난 반응의 산물이다. 수도의 적정재배조건을 구명하기 위하여 지금까지는 제한된 요인 및 수준에서 시험연구가 수행되어 왔는데, 처리요인수 및 각 요인당 처리수준이 증가될 경우 전체 처리수의 급증으로 시험수행이 어렵게 된다. 본 연구는 이를 극복하고자 조생량 벼 품종 '운봉벼'의 재식주수, 주당본수, 질소시비량, 이앙일, 육묘일수 등 5가지 계량적 재배요인의 최적조건을 구명하기 위한 시험을 수행하고 수량을 Box와 Wilson의 중심합성계획법에 따라 분석하였으며(시험 1), 같은 품종을 공시하여 실험 1과 같은 요인을 Finney의 부분실시법(FFD)과 비교함으로써(시험 2) CCD의 농사시험연구에의 활용가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 1. 재배조건에 따른 수량반응 수량은 5요인중 4요인의 수준을 중심수준에서 통제하였을 때 각 요인별 최대수량은 중심수준(재식주수, 90수/3.3$m^2$ ; 주당본수, 5본 ; N시비량, 11kg/10a ; 이앙일, 6월 25일 ; 육묘일수, 35일) 부근이었고 각 요인이 양극단수준으로 갈수록 감수하였으며 5요인중 3요인을 중심수준에서 통제하고 난 뒤에 2요인들 간의 상호작용에 의한 수량은 가 수준의 중심부에서 최고치를 보였다. 전체 5개 요인의 상호작용에 의해 나타난 수량의 정상점은 안부점이었다. 2. 두 계획법의 비교 가. CCD에서 수량에 대한 각각의 정상점에서의 재배조건은, 재식주수 107주/3.3$m^2$, 주당본수 4본, 질소시비량 10kg/10a, 이앙일 6월 26일, 육묘일수 33일이었고, 정상점에서의 수량은 439kg/10a으로서 FFD에서의 그것들과 비슷하였다. 나. CCD에 의하면 요인수와 수준수가 많아도 처리조합수를 획기적으로 줄일 수 있었고, 실험재료의 절적, 작업시간의 단축 및 작업의 간편화를 가져왔다. 다. CCD(각 요인별 5수준)는 FFD(각 3수준)에 비하여 수준수가 많았지만 결과를 도해화하기에 편리하였다. 라. 양 계획법에 있어서 수량의 정상점이 안부점인 것으로 보아 요인의 설정시 각 요인 상호간의 이질성을 고려해야 하며, 처리요인의 지나친 증가도 억제되어야 할 것이다. 마. CCD는 극한수준($\pm$2, $\pm$2, $\pm$2, $\pm$2, $\pm$2)의 처리가 없기 때문에 각 요인의 극한수준의 실험영역에 대해서는 적은 정보를 얻었으나. FFD보다는 많은 유익한 정보를 획득할 수 있었다. 따라서, CCD는 획기적으로 처리수를 줄였어도 유익한 정보를 제공하는 것으로 보아, 농사시험연구에 효율적으로 활용할 수 있는 계획적으로 확인되었다.적으로 확인되었다.

Statistical Optimization of the Growth Factors for Chaetoceros neogracile Using Fractional Factorial Design and Central Composite Design

  • Statistical experimental designs; involving (i) a fractional factorial design (FFD) and (ii) a central composite design (CCD) were applied to optimize the culture medium constituents for production of a unique antifreeze protein by the Antartic micro algae Chaetoceros neogracile. The results of the FFD suggested that NaCl, KCl, $MgCl_2$, and ${Na}_{2}{SiO}_{3}$ were significant variables that highly influenced the growth rate and biomass production. The optimum culture medium for the production of an antifreeze protein from C. neogracile was found to be Kalle's artificial seawater, pH of $7.0{\pm}0.5$, consisting of 28.566 g/l of NaCl, 3.887 g/l of $MgCl_2$, 1.787 g/l of $MgSO_4$, 1.308 g/l of $CaSO_4$, 0.832 g/l of ${K_2}{SO_4}$, 0.124 g/l of $CaCO_3$, 0.103 g/l of KBr, 0.0288 g/l of $SrSO_4$, and 0.0282 g/l of ${H_3}{BO_3}$. The antifreeze activity significantly increased after cells were treated with cold shock (at $-5^{\circ}C$) for 14 h. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report demonstrating an antifreeze-like protein of C. neogracile.

  • The diesel engine generate many pollutants such as PM(Particulate matter) and NOx(Nitrogen oxide). So the SCR(Selective catalytic reduction) must be required to meet the emission standard. The SCR catalyst market is growing rapidly, and the automobile markets using alternative energy sources are growing rapidly. This study deals with optimization of the calcination process the manufacturing process of SCR catalyst to be competitive. The calcination process is a bottleneck and it is required to optimize productivity and accept to be safety, But we cannot trade off anything in terms of safety. We applied DOE(Design of experiments) among many research methods performed in various fields. In order to achieve quality and productivity optimization. The dependent variables in the DOE were selected as NO Conversion(%). The independent variables were selected as the calcination temperature, soaking time and fan speed RPM. the CCD(Central composite designs) constructs response surface using the data onto experience and finds optimum levels within the fitted response surfaces. Our tests are our stability guarantee and efficient together with operation.

밀링 가공 공정에서 복합실험계획법을 이용한 최적 절삭조건 결정 (Determination of Optimal Cutting Conditions in Milling Process using Multiple Design of Experiments Technique)

  • In the present study, Taguchi method is used to determine the rough region first, followed by RSM technique to determine the exact optimum value during milling on a machining center. A region reducing algorithm is applied to narrow down the region of the Taguchi method for RSM. The result from the Taguchi method is fed to train the artificial neural network (ANN), whose optimum value is used to drive the region reducing algorithm. The proposed algorithm is tested under different cutting condition and results show that the introduced algorithm works well during milling process. It is also shown that theoretically obtained optimal cutting condition is very close to experimentally obtained result.

Experimental analysis and modeling of steel fiber reinforced SCC using central composite design

  • The emerging technology of self compacting concrete, fiber reinforcement together reduces vibration and substitute conventional reinforcement which help in improving the economic efficiency of the construction. The objective of this work is to find the regression model to determine the response surface of mix proportioning Steel Fiber Reinforced Self Compacting Concrete (SFSCC) using statistical investigation. A total of 30 mixtures were designed and analyzed based on Design of Experiment (DOE). The fresh properties of SCC and mechanical properties of concrete were studied using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The results were analyzed by limited proportion of fly ash, fiber, volume combination ratio of two steel fibers with aspect ratio of 50/35: 60/30 and super plasticizer (SP) dosage. The center composite designs (CCD) have selected to produce the response in quadratic equation. The model responses included in the primary stage were flowing ability, filling ability, passing ability and segregation index whereas in harden stage of concrete, compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength at 28 days were tested. In this paper, the regression model and the response surface plots have been discussed, and optimal results were found for all the responses.
