  • Levosulpiride is the levo-enantiomer from of racemic sulpride. abenzamide derivative selectively inhibition doparninergic D2 receptos at the trigger zone both in the central nervous system and in the gastrointestinal tract. We report a rapid and sensitive HPLC method using reverse phase C 18 column with fluorescence detection for separation and quantitation of levosulpiride in plasma. Tiapride was used as an internal standard. After adding an internal standard. levosulpiride in 800 ${\mu}l$ of plasma was extracted under basic conditions with ethyl acetate and methylene chloride.   • In order to obtain basal data for industrial application of inulinase from Bacillus sphaeicus 188-1, its intracellular inulinase was purified by ammonium sulfate fractionation and column chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex A-50 and Sephadex G-100. The enzyme was homogeneous as judged by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, with an apparent molecular weight of 29 kDa. Inulinase activity was optimal at pH 6.5 and 4$0^{\circ}C$. The enzyme activity was significantly inhibited by Cu$^{2+}$, Cd$^{2+}$ and Hg$^{2+}$. The inulinase exhibited an apparent Km value of 0.014% for inulin.

  • Two sesquiterpene lactones were isolated from methanol extracts of the whole plants of Youngia japonica (L.) DC. by the silica gel column chromatography and recrystallization. On the basis of spectrometric studies including $^1H-NMR,\;^{13}C-NMR,\;DEPT,\;^1H-^1H\;COSY,\;^{13}C-^1H\;COSY$, IR and MS, compounds 1 and 2 were identified as derivatives of 10(14)-guaien-12, 6-olide, isoamberboin and isolipidiol, respectively. This is the first report on the isolation of isoamberboin and isolipidiol from Youngia japonica (L.) DC.

  • This study aims to provide a more comfortable environment for the external environment by designing a rotable dwelling that deviates from the conventional fixed residential concept. The round pillars, which are the center of the building, are constructed by placing the CFT (concrete Filled steel Tube) technique in place and assembling modular houses with columns. This study combines existing building techniques. Korea also needs to develop various related studies quickly.

  • The fast separation and determination of cefatrizine${\cdot}$propylene glycol and inmpurities - TACA: 7-amino-3-(1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid and 7-ACA; 7-amino cephalosporanic acid - was performed by the high poerformance liquid chromatography using octadecyl siland (ODS) column. Methanol and ammonium phosphate buffer [$0.03M(NH_4)_2\;HPO_4$, (pH 7.5)] was used analyze, as eluent. The experimental value of the contents of cefatrizine${\cdot}$propylene glycol and impurities agree with the theoretical value of those.

Distribution of Tropical Tropospheric Ozone Determined by the Scan-Angle Method applied to TOMS Measurements

  • This study introduces the first method that determines tropospheric ozone column directly from a space-based instrument. This method is based on the physical differences in the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) measurement as a function of its scan-angle geometry. Tropospheric ozone in September-October exhibits a broad enhancement over South America, the southern Atlantic Ocean, and western South Africa and a minimum over the central Pacific Ocean. Tropical tropospheric ozone south of the equator is higher than north of the equator in September-October, the southern burning season. Conversely, ozone north of the equator is higher in March, the northern burning season. Overall, the ozone over the southern tropics during September-October is significantly higher than over the northern tropics. Abnormally high tropospheric ozone occurs over the western Pacific Ocean during the El Nino season when the ozone amounts are as high as the ozone over the Africa.

2 - 5 μm Spectroscopy of Red Point Sources in the Galactic Center

  • We present preliminary results of our long-term (2009-2017) observing campaign using the NASA IRTF at Mauna Kea, to obtain $2-5{\mu}m$ spectroscopy of ~200 red point sources in the line of sight to the Galactic center. Point sources in our sample were selected from the mid-infrared images of the Spitzer Space telescope, and include candidate massive young stellar objects, which have previously been identified from our Spitzer/IRS spectroscopy. We show high foreground extinction of these sources from deep $3.1{\mu}m$ H2O ice and aliphatic hydrocarbon absorption features, suggesting that they are likely located in the central 300 pc region of the Galactic center. While many sources reveal photospheric $2.3{\mu}m$ gas CO absorption, few of them clearly indicate $3.54{\mu}m$ CH3OH ice absorption, possibly indicating a large dust column density intrinsic to a massive young stellar object.

  • A sensitive and selective reversed-phase LC-ESI-MS method to quantitate pseudoephedrine in human plasma was developed and validated. Phenacetin was used as an internal standard. Samples were prepared simply by acetonitrile precipitation without an evaporation step. Chromatographic separation was achieved on a XTerra MS C18 column ($150{times}2.1$ mm I.D.. 3.5 $\mu\textrm{m}$ particles). using gradient elution with 0.5% (v/v) trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in water and 0.5% (v/v) TFA in methanol at a flow-rate of 0.1 ml/min. Characteristics of Heavy Metal Releases from the Abandoned Dogog Mine Tailing in Korea (도곡광산 광미의 중금속 용출 특성)

  • Objective of this research was to assess the release characteristics of metals from the mine tailing to base the prediction of metal load potential from tailing to soils. Water-soluble concentrations of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn released from mine tailing after 2 hrs were 2.31, 129.38, 17.17, and 287.53 mg/kg, respectively, as compared to 1.6, 128, 108, and 142 mg/kg that were extractable by 0.1 M HCl. Kinetics of metal releases followed the power function model significantly indicating that more of water soluble fractions of those metals released at the initial short time, followed by a slow increase. Concentrations of metals released from tailing by water and 0.1 M HCl were in the orders of Zn > Cu > Pb > Cd. The breakthrough curve from the column experiment showed that concentrations of Cd, Cu, and Zn reached at highest after one pore volume, but that of Pb reached highest after five pore volumes when 0.1 M HCl was used as eluent. The release rate of Cd from mine tailing was the fastest but Pb was the slowest. The cumulative mass of metal released by 0.1 M HCl was in the order of Zn > Cu > Pb > Cd after nine pore volume elution.

  • Objective of this research was to evaluate the fate of nitrogen and phosphorous in hydroponic waste solution from the plastic film house cultivation applied to the upland soil by column leaching and field experiment. The pH and EC of leachate were decreased by the reaction with the upland soil in the column leaching experiment. The EC and concentrations of $H^+,\;K^+,\;and\;{NH_4}^+$ of leachate were decreased as the column length (soil depth) was increased. But these were increased as the amounts of the hydroponic waste solution were increased field experiment growing red pepper (Capsicum annum L.) to monitor the nutrients movement using ion exchange resin capsule demonstrated that the nutrient concentration of soil solution was increased in the orders of $PO_4-P. Nitrate concentration of resin capsule inserted into the soil was relatively higher than other nutrients $(NH_4-N\;and\;PO_4-P)$ at the 45 cm of soil depth. The overall results demonstrated that the hydroponic waste solution could be recycled as plant nutrients to enhance fertility of soils. But nitrate leaching was a major factor for safe use of the hydroponic waste solution in soil.
