  • Granting self-sensing performance in a building is an important performance to ensure the degree of damage and safety of the building. Since the current research is being conducted in the state before deterioration loss occurs, it is necessary to confirm whether the self-sensing performance is maintained even in the damaged conductive cement composite. As part of the study, electrical resistance characteristics were analyzed in conductive cement composites in which freeze-thawing and chemical corrosion occurred. As a result, it was found that the change in electrical resistance value due to freeze-thawing was not as large as 1%, and chemical corrosion occurred. It was found that the change in electrical resistance value of the tested specimen increased by about 10%.

  • The contact resistivity was correlated with IFSS and microfailure modes in conductive fiber/cement composites electro-pullout and AE. As IFSS increased, the number of AE signals increased and the contact resistivity increased latter to the infinity. In dual matrix composite (DMC) test and AE, the number of signals with high amplitude and energy in g]ass fiber composite is significantly larger than that of no-fiber composite. Many vertical and diagonal cracks were observed in glass fiber and no-fiber composite under tensile test, respectively. Electro-micromechanical technique and AE can be used efficiently for sensitive nondestructive (NDT) evaluation and to detect microfailure mechanisms in various conductive fibers reinforced brittle and nontransparent cement composites.

  • Since the climate problem getting severe, carbon neutrality is rising global issue. The limestone powder addition that can substitute clinker in cement is look forward to get positive effect as filler. This study focus on the effect of limestone powder chemical characteristic on mortar workability and compressive strength. Consequently, regardless of type of limestone and subsitution amount, the compressive strength was lower then OPC. But the workability of limestone composite cement showed higher then OPC. Considering latter strength development, using unit water decreasing effect of limestone composite cement is planned further.

  • Objectives: Extensively destroyed teeth are commonly restored with composite resin before cavity preparation for indirect restorations. The longevity of the restoration can be related to the proper bonding of the resin cement to the composite. This study aimed to evaluate the microshear bond strength of two self-adhesive resin cements to composite resin. Material and Methods: Composite discs were subject to one of six different surface pretreatments: none (control), 35% phosphoric acid etching for 30 seconds (PA), application of silane (silane), PA + silane, PA + adhesive, or PA + silane + adhesive (n = 6). A silicone mold containing a cylindrical orifice ($1mm^2$ diameter) was placed over the composite resin. RelyX Unicem (3M ESPE) or BisCem (Bisco Inc.) self-adhesive resin cement was inserted into the orifices and light-cured. Self-adhesive cement cylinders were submitted to shear loading. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (p < 0.05). Results: Independent of the cement used, the PA + Silane + Adhesive group showed higher microshear bond strength than those of the PA and PA + Silane groups. There was no difference among the other treatments. Unicem presented higher bond strength than BisCem for all experimental conditions. Conclusions: Pretreatments of the composite resin surface might have an effect on the bond strength of self-adhesive resin cements to this substrate.

  • Some physical characteristics as thickness swelling, heat conduction, and bending properties of composite hoards made of waste wood chip and charcoal were measured. Wood-charcoal composite boards of three types and cement board were prepared for this study as shown in Table 1, Keeping duration of strawberries in the boxes($25cm{\times}25cm{\times}25cm$) manufactured with the boards was also examined. Thickness swelling and bending properties(MOR and MOE) of board B and C were lower than those of board A. Among the wood-charcoal composite boards except cement board, there were no differences in heat conduction(mm/sec.). Strawberries in the box with board C were kept longer duration in fresh condition than that with cement board. From the results, it is suggested that wood-charcoal composite boards can be used for eco-material.

  • In recent years, the stability, safety and comfort of trains has received increased attention. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of the foundation are the main problems studied in high-speed railway research. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of the foundation are greatly affected by the ground treatment. Additionally, the effects of train load and earthquakes have a great impact. The dynamic action of the train will increase the vibration acceleration of the foundation and increase the cumulative deformation, and the earthquake action will affect the stability of the substructure. Earthquakes have an important practical significance for the dynamic analysis of the railway operation stage; therefore, considering the impact of earthquakes on the railway substructure stability has engineering significance. In this paper, finite element model of the CFG (Cement Fly-ash Gravel) pile + cement-soil compacted pile about composite foundation is established, and manual numerical incentive method is selected as the simulation principle. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of CFG pile + cement-soil compacted pile about composite foundation under train load are studied. The results show: under the train load, the neutral point of the side friction about CFG pile is located at nearly 7/8 of the pile length; the vertical dynamic stress-time history curves of the cement-soil compacted pile, CFG pile and soil between piles are all regular serrated shape, the vertical dynamic stress of CFG pile changes greatly, but the vertical dynamic stress of cement-soil compacted pile and soil between piles does not change much; the vertical displacement of CFG pile, cement-soil compacted pile and soil between piles change very little.

  • Topical fluoride application for children is a widely performed procedure in the field of Pediatric Dentistry for its dental caries prevention effects. However, it is recently recognized as having some unwanted effects on several esthetic restorative materials as it roughens the surfaces of the restorative materials. In order to evaluate the surface changes in esthetic restorative materials, the author immersed composite resin, glass ionomer cement, and resin-modified glass ionomer cement specimens in various topical fluoride agents and measured the weight loss and also, examined the specimens under the scanning electron microscope. The followings are the results : 1. All the specimens immersed in APF gel for 4 minutes showed statistically significant weight loss. (paired t-test, P<0.05). 2. There was no statistically significant weight loss for the resin-modified glass ionomer cement and composite resin groups immersed in sodium fluoride solution (paired t-test, P>0.05). 3. When the glass ionomer cement group was immersed in APF gel for 1 and 4 minutes, there was a statistically significant weight loss compare to other esthetic restorative materials (ANOVA, P<0.05). 4. In the resin-modified glass ionomer cement group and the composite resin group, weight loss in the APF gel 4 minutes immersion group was greater than the 1 minute immersion group, and it was statistically significant (ANOVA, P<0.05). 5. When the specimens were examined under scanning electron microscope, the surface changes were greatest in the order of glass ionomer cement, resin-modified glass ionomer cement, composite resin and also in the order of APF gel 4 minute immersion group, 1 minute immersion group, sodium fluoride immersion group, and control group.

  • Based on the general theory of elasticity, the static behavior of 2-2 cement-based piezoelectric curved composites is investigated. The actuator consists of 2 cement layers and 1 piezoelectric layer. Considering the electrode layer between the cement layer and the piezoelectric layer as the elastic layer, the exact solutions of the mechanical and electrical fields of the curved composites are obtained by utilizing the Airy stress function method. Furthermore, the theoretical results are compared with the FEM results and good agreements (with almost no error) are obtained, thus proving the validity of this study. Furthermore, the influence of certain parameters is discussed, which can help to get the desired displacements and stresses. Finally, it is seen that the analytical model established in this paper works well, which could benefit the design of this kind of cement-based smart devices.
