Since the emergence of proteomics methods, many proteins specific for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) have been identified. Despite their usefulness for the specific diagnosis of RCC, such proteins do not provide spatial information on the diseased tissue. Therefore, the identification of cancer-specific proteins that include information on their specific location is needed. Recently, matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry (MS) based imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) has emerged as a new tool for the analysis of spatial distribution as well as identification of either proteins or small molecules in tissues. In this report, surgical tissue sections of papillary RCC were analyzed using MALDI-IMS. Statistical analysis revealed several discriminative cancer-specific m/z-species between normal and diseased tissues. Among these m/z-species, two particular proteins, S100A11 and ferritin light chain, which are specific for papillary RCC cancer regions, were successfully identified using LC-MS/MS following protein extraction from independent RCC samples. The expressions of S100A11 and ferritin light chain were further validated by immunohistochemistry of human tissues and tissue microarrays (TMAs) of RCC. In conclusion, MALDI-IMS followed by LC-MS/MS analysis in human tissue identified that S100A11 and ferritin light chain are differentially expressed proteins in papillary RCC cancer regions.
Recently, diverse information which are location, call history, SMS history, photographs, and video can be collected constantly from mobile devices such as cellular phone, smart phone, and PDA. There are many researchers who study services for searching and abstraction of personal daily life with contextual information in mobile environment. In this paper, we introduce MyLifeBrowser which is developed in our previous work. Also, we explain LPS and correction of GPS coordinates as extensions of previous work and show LPS performance test and evaluate the performance of expanded keywords. MyLifeBrowser which provides searching personal information in mobile device and support of detecting related information according to a fragmentary keyword and common knowledge in ConceptNet. It supports the functionality of searching related locations using Bayesian network that is designed by the authors. In our experiment, we visualize real data through MyLifeBrowser and show the feasibility of LPS server and expanded keywords using both Bayesian network and ConceptNet.
A femtocell network has been attracting attention as a promising solution for providing high data rate transmission over the conventional cellular network in an indoor environment. In this paper, we propose a distributed power control algorithm considering both indoor coverage and data load balancing in the femtocell network. As data traffic varies by time and location according to user distribution, each femto base station suffers from an unbalanced data load, which may degrade network performance. To distribute the data load, the base stations are required to adjust their transmission power dynamically. Since there are a number of base stations in practice, we propose a distributed power control algorithm. In addition, we propose the simple algorithm to detect the faulty base station and to recover coverage. We also explain how to insert a new base station into a deployed network. We present the simulation results to evaluate the proposed algorithms.
Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease observed in approximately 0.5-2.2% of the population, and it is recognized as a premalignant lesion that can progress into oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The rate of malignant transformation is approximately 1.09-2.3%, and the risk factors for malignant transformation are age, female, erosive type, and tongue site location. Malignant transformation of OLP is likely related to the low frequency of apoptotic phenomena. Therefore, apoptosis-related genetic factors, like p53, BCL-2, and BAX are reviewed. Increased p53 expression and altered expression of BCL-2 and BAX were observed in OLP patients, and the malignant transformation rate in these patients was relatively higher. The involvement of microRNA (miRNA) in the malignant transformation of OLP is also reviewed. Because autophagy is involved in cell survival and death through the regulation of various cellular processes, autophagy-related genetic factors may function as factors for malignant transformation. In OLP, decreased levels of ATG9B mRNA and a higher expression of IGF1 were observed, suggesting a reduction in cell death and autophagic response. Activated IGF1-PI3K/AKT/mTor cascade may play an important role in a signaling pathway related to the malignant transformation of OLP to OSCC. Recent research has shown that miRNAs, such as miR-199 and miR-122, activate the cascade, increasing the prosurvival and proproliferative signals.

The purpose of IEEE 802.16j is to extend coverage and to enhance throughput by using relay station additionally to conventional IEEE 802.16e . The cellular system experiences performance degradation at the cell edge due to pathloss, shadow and multipath fading. We can get advantage of spatial diversity gain by using relays more than two cooperatively in the IEEE 802.16j system. Cooperative relaying using space-time code provides better performance under multipath fading and has more robustness against the shadow fading than single relaying. In this paper, we investigate the performance of IEEE 802.16j using cooperative relaying by link level simulation. We also show that the cooperative relaying system achieves better performance than the conventional single relaying system. We apply realistic shadow model considering correlations between shadow fadings of different relaying paths. It is shown that the performance of the system depends highly on the spatial location of relay stations.

To cope with an increasing amount of data traffic, research efforts are being made to maximize the data rate by reducing the interference between the transmission nodes. This paper also focuses on interference control schemes utilizing antenna sub-array beam-forming. The first scheme relies on horizontal beam rotation which utilizes three types of narrow beam patterns. Different beam patterns are applied to transmit signals in rotating fashion to control the interference. The second scheme is based on user-specific sub-array beamforming, which uses the precoding matrix based on users' location and controls the amount of interference in the multi-user environment. The performance of the proposed schemes is evaluated using the computer simulation to demonstrate the performance enhancement.

FAM92A1 (named FAM92A1-271) belongs to the family of proteins with conserved DUF1208 domains. Its function remains elusive. We identified two novel transcript variants (FAM92A1-251, FAM92A1-289) of FAM92A1. The presence of these transcripts in cancerous and normal cells, as well as their influence on cell prolifera-tion and apoptosis, were investigated. The subcellular location of FAM92A1 was determined by fluorescence microscopy. We found that FAM92A1-271 and FAM92A1-289 were highly expressed in both normal and cancerous cells, but FAM92A1-251 was only expressed at a mo-derate level in both types of cell. Overexpression of FAM92A1-271, FAM92A1-251 and FAM92A1-289 inhibited cell proliferation, caused S-phase arrest and induced apoptosis. Subcellular localization showed that FAM92A1 localizes to the nucleus. Our results show that FAM92A1 has different splicing variants, and that it may take part in regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis.

This paper designs and Implements a connectivity analyzer for the hybrid vehicular network based on the real-life movement history data achieved from the Taxi telematics system currently in operation, aiming at providing a useful guideline and information to build a telematics network. The simulator traces the location of each vehicle, sets the vehicle type, either gateway or normal, decides whether it can be connected to a mobile gateway, keeps track of status of the vehicle, and calculates the duration of disconnected state. With this analysis considering the transmission range and gateway ratio, we can decide the cost-effective number of mobile gateways having both cellular and ad-hoc network interfaces, and buffer space requirement based on the measured disconnection time and message generation ratio.

Body surface potential map, an electric potential distribution on the body torso surface, enables us to infer the electrical activities of the heart. Therefore, observing electric potential projected to the torso surface can be highly useful for diagnosing heart diseases such as coronary occlusion. The BSPM for the heart of a patient show a higher level of sensitivity than 12-lead ECG. Relevant research has been mostly based on clinical statistics obtained from patients, and, therefore, a simulation for a variety of pathological phenomena of the heart is required. In this study, by using computer simulation, a body surface potential map was implemented according to various occlusion locations (distal, mid, proximal occlusion) in the left anterior descending coronary artery. Electrophysiological characteristics of the body surface during the ST segment period were observed and analyzed based on an ST isointegral map. We developed an integrated system that takes into account the cellular to organ levels, and performed simulation regarding the electrophysiological phenomena of the heart that occur during the first 5 minutes (stage 1) and 10 minutes (stage 2) after commencement of coronary occlusion. Subsequently, we calculated the bipolar angle and amplitude of the ST isointegral map, and observed the correlation between the relevant characteristics and the location of coronary occlusion. In the result, in the ventricle model during the stage 1, a wider area of ischemia led to counterclockwise rotation of the bipolar angle; and, during the stage 2, the amplitude increased when the ischemia area exceeded a certain size.

NOMA (Non-orthogonal multiple Access) system has been focused on the next generation cellular system for higher spectral efficiency. However, this requires user scheduling as the NOMA system is a multi-user system which accesses simultaneously. There are two representative scheduling schemes, proportionate scheduling (FP) and cumulative distribution function (CFD) scheduling. The PF scheduling is applied, the cell edge user is hard to obtain a transmit opportunity. Recently, CDF scheduling is obviously noted that it offers the same possibility of transmission for a user regardless of the location in a cell. We consider an uplink NOMA system with CDF scheduling, and obtain the channel access probabilities, the outage probabilities of the system with different number of users and different kinds of weights through simulation. The results indicate that the likelihood of each user accessing the channel is the same and the probability of failure decreases as the number of users increases. We found that the effect of the probability of failure is negligible as the weight of the cell edge user increases.
