The cavities created by underground mining, if remained unfilled, can cause ground settlement and surface subsidence as a result of relaxation and breakdown of the carven roof. Construction of structures above the underground mine cavity will have serious problems concerning both structural stability and safely even if the cavity is back-filled. This study was conducted to confirm the location and condition of the cavern as well as the state of the back-fill in A mine area using core logging and borehole camera. The bearing capacity and other mechanical properties of the ground were also measured by the standard penetration test(SPT). Obtained data were used to assess the stability of the ground and the structures to be built by numerical analysis using FLAC. The site investigation results showed that the mine cavities were filled with materials such as boulder and silty sand(SM by unified classification). Result of the numerical analyses indicated that constructing building structures on the over-lying ground above the filled cavities is secure against the potential problems such as surface subsidence and ground settlement.
This study was conducted to evaluate and compare the apical leakage in the following retrofilling techniques after apical resection; No apical cavity preparation and no retrofilling(control group), Amalgam(group I) or silver glass ionomer cement(group II) retrofilling after apical cavity preparation with mini contra-angle and bur, Amalgam(group III) or silver glass ionomer cement(group N) retrofilling after apical cavity preparation with ultrasonic micro endo tip. Extracted ninety upper anterior and lower canine teeth were fixed in skull simulators and root canals were prepared with step-back method and obturated with gutta-percha and zinc oxide eugenol sealer. Obturated roots were resected 2mm from apical ends and apical cavities of 1mm width and 2mm depth were prepared and retrofilled by above mentioned methods. After application of nail varnish on all surface except resected surface, apical 1/3 of the roots were placed in 1% methylene blue solution for 3 days. After longutudinal sectioning to expose central parts of filled materials, depths of penetrated dye were measured by measuring microscope and were analyzed statistically. The results were as follows. 1. Having no relation with instruments used in apical cavity preparation, amalgam retrofilling groups(group I and II) showed less apical leakage which was not significant statistically than no retrofilling group(control group) (P<0.05), but silver glass ionomer cement retrofilling gruoups(group II and IV) showed significantly less apical leakage than no retrofilling group(control group) (P<0.01). 2. In the groups retrofilled with the same material, the apical leakage in cavities prepared with ultrasonic micro endo tip (group III and IV) was less than that in cavities prepared with mini contra-angle and bur(group I and II), but not significant statistically(P>0.05). 3. When apical cavities were prepared with same instrument. the egroups retrofilled with silver glass ionomer cement(group II and IV) showed significantly less apical leakage than the groups retrofilled with amalgam(group I and III)(<0.01).
In this paper, we present the results of our studies on optimal die design towards development of a vacuum die casting process to fabricate fuel cell bipolar plate with micro-channel array. Cavity and overflow shape is designed by computational filling analysis of MAGMA soft. Optimal die design consists of seven overflows at the end of cavity and three overflows at each side wall of cavity. The molten metal that passed the gate and reached the side wall flowed into the side overflow, no turbulent flow occurred, and the filling behavior and velocity distribution were uniform. In addition, partially solidified molten metal passing through the channel was perfectly eliminated by overflow without back-flow. When vacuum pressure, injection speed of low and high region was 300 mbar, 0.3 m/s and 2.5 m/s respectively with Silafont 36 die casting alloy, sound sample without casting defects was obtained. The experimental results are nearly consistent with simulation results.

When the time-harmonic plane wave is incident upon a high-contrast spherical cavity in a lossy medium, the incoherent shadow intensity pattern is acquired by averaging out the multi-frequency intensities of the co-polarized total electric field calculated at the measurement plane perpendicular to the propagating direction of the incident wave in the forward direction. In the spherical rotational measurement configuration, an incoherent imaging of the spherical cavity is obtained via the back-projections of the incoherent shadow intensity pattern. This imaging method is validated by imaging an air sphere in the lossy medium of ${\epsilon}_r$ = 2 and $\sigma$ = 0.001, 0.003 S/m and the conditions for obtaining better images are investigated.

This paper describes composite cavity-backed crossed scythe-shaped dipoles with wide-beam circularly polarized (CP) radiation for use in Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Each branch of the dipole arm contains a meander line, with the end shaped like a scythe to achieve a significant reduction in the size of the radiator. For dual-band operation, each dipole arm is divided into two branches of different lengths. The dipoles are crossed through a $90^{\circ}$ phase delay line of a vacant-quarter printed ring to achieve CP radiation. The crossed dipoles are incorporated with a cavity-backed reflector to make the CP radiation unidirectional and to improve the CP radiation beamwidth. The proposed antennas have broad impedance matching and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidths, as well as right-hand CP radiation with a wide-beamwidth and high front-to-back ratio.
A 12-year-old female presented with the abnormal findings on the chest PA. The chest CT revealed a retrosternal defect of the diaphragm and a fatty opacity in the pleural cavity, resulting in a diagnosis of Morgagni hernia. It was decided to undergo a laparoscopic surgery. The retrosternal defect of the diaphragm measuring 3.5 cm in diameter was found, through which a portion of the greater omentum and the fatty tissue connected with the falciform ligament were herniated into the pleural cavity. The greater omentum was pushed back into the peritoneal cavity and the fatty tissue connected with falciform ligament was excised. The mediastinal pleura was plicated and the defect of the diaphragm was repaired primarily. Immediately after the operation, the patient developed a right pneumothorax for which a chest tube was inserted. She was discharged at the post-operative third day without any further complications.

In this paper, an incoherent imaging of a high-contrast cylindrical cavity illuminated by the time-harmonic cylindrical wave is obtained ia the back-projections of he incoherent intensity patterns, which si acquired by averaging out the multi-frequency intensities of the total electric field scattered from this object in the cross-borehole measurement configuration. Multi-freuqncy effect is shown numerically and is intepreted analytically by the mutual coherence function defined in the is frequency domain. This imaging method is validated by imaging high-contrast cylindrical cavidities and the conditions to get better image are investigated.

Equivalent volume estimation of the coupler and two coupled microphones has a key role in standard microphone pressure calibration. The equivalent volume of the microphone is determined by the dynamic characteristics of the diaphragm system and front cavity. Therefore the modal parameters of diaphragm system - natural frequency and damping fatter - should be measured explicitly for the estimation of the equivalent volume. The diaphragm system is composed of the vibrating diaphragm, back slit behind diaphragm, pressure equalization vent, and front cavity which are acoustically coupled. In the measurement, the electrostatic actuator was used to excite the system with the swept sine, and the frequency response was obtained. The close actuator in front of the diaphragm must influence the radiation impedance of the system, and then the modal parameters. From the measured frequency response, the natural frequency and the damping factor could be estimated with the Complex exponential method based on the Prony model and the zero crossing real and imaginary plot.
Manganese-doped H-SAPO-34 samples were prepared by an ion-exchanged reaction between H-SAPO-34 and paramagnetic Mn(II) species in methanol media and characterized by ESR and Electron Spin-Echo Modulation(ESEM) studies. In the hydrated (W)MnH-SAPO-34 measured in water, the Mn(II) ion was octahedrally coordinated with four framework oxygens and two water molecules at a displaced site IV of the eight membered ring window in the ellipsoidal cavity, while the Mn(II) ion was octahedrally coordinated to three framework oxygens and three water molecules at a displaced site I' of the six membered ring window in the ellipsoidal cavity in hydrated(M)MnH-SAPO-34 measured in methanol. The similar result was found in the experiments with methanol adsorbents except ethanol.

In the paper, we have proposed a new technique to determine the initial billet for the forged products using a function approximation in neural network. A three-layer neural network is used and a back propagation algorithm is employed to train the network. An optimal billet which satisfied the forming limitation, minimum of incomplete filling in the die cavity, load and energy as well as more uniform distribution of effective strain, is determined by applying the ability of function approximation of the neural network. The amount of incomplete filling in the die, load and forming energy as well as effective strain are measured by the rigid-plastic finite element method. This new technique is applied to find the optimal billet size for the axisymmetric rib-web product in hot forging. This would reduce the number of finite element simulation for determining the optimal billet of forging products, further it is usefully adopted to physical modeling for the forging design
