Sub-cavity를 이용한 초음속 cavity 유동의 피동제어에 대한 실험 및 수치해석적 연구 (Experimental/ Computational Study on the Passive Control of Supersonic Cavity Flow using a Sub-Cavity)

  • 본 연구에서는 초음속 공동유동장에서 발생하는 압력변동을 저감하기 위한 피동제어방법의 유용성을 실험 및 수치해석적으로 조사하였다. 피동제어방법으로 사각 공동내 상류 벽면에 sub-cavity를 설치하였다. 공동내 하류벽면에 센서를 설치하여 압력변동 값을 실험적으로 측정하였으며, 측정된 압력변동값을 FFT변환하여 주파수 분석을 하였다. 수치계적으로는 공동내 압력변동 특성을 살펴보기 위해 3차원 비정상 Navier-Stokes 방정식에 유한체적법을 적용하여 유동장을 모사하였으며, 유동의 난류상태량들은 LES 방법을 사용하여 계산하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 공동유동에서 진동 특성은 공동 하류벽면에서 발생하는 압력진동에 의존한다. 특히 leading tip 두께와 sub-cavity 크기가 진동 저감효과에 주요 인자이다.

외부유동에 의한 캐버티 내의 비정상 유동특성 (Unsteady Flow in a Cavity Induced by An Oscillatory External Flow)

  • In this paper, we report the experimental results for the flow pattern and the material transport around a cavity subject to a sinusoidal external flow at the far region to ward the open side of the cavity. A tilting mechanism is used to generate a oscillatory flow inside a shallow rectangular container having a cavity at one side. The surface flow visualization is performed to obtain the unsteady behavior of vortices generated at two edges situated at the entrance of the cavity. It was found that at the period 4.5 sec., the behavior of the vortices is asymmetric, and there exists a steady residual flow in the cavity. The bottom flow patterns are also visualized. There are two regions outside of the cavity where the bottom fluid particles concentrate. The material transport in this flow model is very peculiar; fluid particles in the cavity flows outward through the passage along the walls starting from the edges, and particles in the outer region approach the cavity from the central region.

지하 공동에 대한 탄성파 속도 및 진폭 변화에 관한 연구 (A study of seismic velocity and amplitude variation around underground cavity)

  • This study was designated to clarify the aspect of the wave propagation around the cavity. The change of traveltime and amplitude of the seismic wave was observed according to the various wave velocities of the cavity. The seismic wave detour or penetrate the cavity depending on the seismic velocity of the in-filled material. Generally, seismic wave detours toward high velocity zone around the cavity, and when the velocity of the cavity material reaches to 80 % of the base rock, the wave penetrates the cavity. The traveltime of the detouring seismic wave is not sensitive to the change of the cavity velocity, but as the velocity of the cavity increases, the fall of the amplitude was reduced. The penetrating wave showed the steeply increasing amplitude due to the reiteration of the detouring wave.

  • To achieve efficient combustion within a manageable length, a successful fuel injection scheme must provide rapid mixing between the fuel and airstreams. The aim of the present numerical research is to investigate the flame holding and combustion enhancement. Additional fuel into the cavity prevents shear flow impingement on the trailing edge of the cavity. The high temperature freestream flow mixes with the cold hydrogen fuel that is injected into the cavity and raises the fuel temperature remarkably and become to start combustion. The high pressure in the cavity due to the cavity structure and combustion leads the hydrogen fuel to upstream. The shock in the cavity to be generated by the fuel injection joins together and reflects off the ceiling wall. This makes high pressure and low mach number region and makes a small recirculation in this region. This high stagnation temperature is nearly recovered in the shear layer in front of the cavity and leads to start combustion. In the downstream of the cavity, the wall pressure drops significantly. This means that the combustion phenomenon is diminished. Because fuel lumps at the trailing edge of the cavity then it spreads after the cavity so, in this region there is a strong expansion.

공조용 압축기의 Cavity Resonance의 측정 및 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on Measurement and Reduction of Cavity Resonance Based on the Internal Acoustic Modeling of Compressor)

  • Pressure pulsation Inside the discharge and suction cavity of rotary and scroll compressor are often a major source of objectionable noise and vibration. The key factor of these noise and vibration is due to the cavity resonance. It is not only necessary to understanding the characteristics of pulsation in order to reduce the excitation force of gas to the cavity but also to verifying the phenomena of cavity resonance. For the purpose of these understandings, measurement and simulation of cavity resonance can lead to a better understandings how they occur and be very important to identify the ways to reduce the noise efficiently. In this paper, modeling of the cavity(internal acoustics inside the shell) is discussed and simulated using FEM. Results from the simulation are compared with those measurement in experiments. In describing of cavity mode by experiments, it is very important to specify the exact conditions under which they are measured. Finally, this paper shows the one example of reduced cavity resonance in the compressor.

  • 2차원 open cylindrical cavity의 전자파 투과 및 산란특성에 대해 연구하였다. 이러한 구조는 cavity 및 aperture의 크기에 따라 전파의 투과나 산란특성에 특이한 현상이 나타남에도 불구하고 정확한 분석이 이루어지지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 모멘트법의 확장형인 FMM 기법을 이용하여 비교적 광범위하게 open cavity의 특성을 계산하였다. 계산결과 open cylindrical cavity의 경우 closed cavity의 internal mode에 대응하는 external mode가 존재하고, 이때 공진 및 산란특성은 비공진시와 다른 특성을 나타냄을 확인하였다. 연구결과는 전자파의 차폐 및 RCS 통제분야에 응용할 예정이다.

Characteristics of Flame-holding in a Scramjet Combustor with a Cavity

  • Numerical simulations were conducted in a rectangular scramjet combustor with a cavity and/or a step in order to investigate their performances for flame-holding. Flow structures and OH radical profiles in the cavity and the step were calculated. The calculated results showed that the cavity generated a larger recirculation zone than the step that had the same depth. Additionally, the combustor with a cavity could make a large low-velocity area than the combustor with a step. The cavity performance was determined by its depth and length. The cavities with too large or too short length did not work effectively, and a certain aspect ratio showed high performance for flame-holding. There was a minimal depth under which the cavity did not work as flame-holder. The fuel injections upstream the cavity and inside the cavity were also tested to investigate the effects on the cavity performance. The result showed that the fuel injection inside the cavity reduced reaction areas and residence time. Therefore, the upstream injection was preferable to the inside injection.

  • 본 논문에서는 원통형 공동계의 음향 전달 특성에 대하여 이론적으로 검토한다. 원통형 공동계는 성덕대왕 신종의 음향 공동을 단순화시킨 모델로, 주 공동, 보조 공동 및 간극으로 구성되어 있다. 주 공동 내부에 점음원을 주고 내부 및 외부 음장에서의 주파수 응답 특성과 음향 모드를 구하였다. 그 결과는 SYSNOISE를 이용한 경계요소 해석결과와 비교하여 타당성을 확인하였다. 제안된 이론모델을 이용하여 간극과 보조 공동이 음향계의 공명 주파수와 음향 전달 특성에 미치는 영향을 규명하였다. 마지막으로 음원 주파수를 공동 내부에서 외부로 가장 잘 전달시키는 보조 공동과 간극의 조합을 결정하였다.

원판 캐비테이터의 환기 초공동에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Ventilated Supercavitation of the Disk Cavitator)

  • In this paper, the experimental equipments for ventilated supercavitation in cavitation tunnel is constructed and the basic data of ventilated supercavitation regard to the entrainment coefficient and Froude number is fulfilled. The experiments are conducted for the disk cavitator with injecting air and the pressure inside cavity and the shape of cavity are measured. As the entrainment coefficient increases while the Froude number is kept constant, the ventilated cavitation number decreases to a minimum value which decreases no more even with increasing the air entrainment. The minimum value of ventilated cavitation number, caused by the blockage effect, decreases according to increasing the diameter ratio of test section to cavitator. The cavity length is rapidly enlarged near the minimum cavitation number. In low Froude numbers, the cavity tail is floating up due to buoyancy and the air inside the cavity is evacuated from its rear end with twin-vortex hollow tubes. However, in high Froude numbers, the buoyancy effect is almost negligible and there is no more twin-vortex tubes so that the cavity shape becomes close to axisymmetric. In order to measure the cavity length and width, the two methods, which are to be based on the cavity shapes and the maximum width of cavity, are applied. As the entrainment coefficient increases after the ventilated cavitation number gets down to the minimum cavitation number, the cavity length still increases gradually. These phenomenon can be confirmed by the measurement using the method based on the cavity shapes. On the other hand, when the method based on the maximum width of cavity is used, the length and width of the cavity agree well with a semi-empirical formular of natural cavity. So the method based on the maximum width of cavity can be a valid method for cavitator design.

  • Schematic of RAON vacuum system is introduced. Vacuum test for superconducting cavity with liquid nitrogen is performed. Schematic plan for RAON vacuum system is introduced and vacuum control system for superconducting cavity test is constructed. Vacuum pressure of cavity is shown as a function of pumping time. The temperature of cavity is shown as a function of cooling time. Outgassing species from cavity is also detected. Detailed experimental procedure is presented to test the cavity vacuum with liquid nitrogen.
