  • This paper presents a preliminary study of the influence of roughness due to marine propeller blades machining on their performance. A blade surface finish that has been roughened by corrosion, cavitation and other phenomena, leads to a power penalty. Thus propellers manufacturers tend to propose blades of great surface finish, even mirror-polished. However achieving such surface finish increases manufacturing costs. With modem manufacturing means, propellers can now be machined while preserving a good surface finish. We have studied the influence of manufacturing strategy on an aspect of hydrodynamic performance, cavitation.

마이크로 프로펠러 수차의 성능 특성 (Performance Characteristics of Micro Propeller Turbine)

  • The main objective of this study is to validate the performance characteristics of newly developed micro propeller turbine based on experimental model test. For this purpose, Measurements of efficiency and cavitation tests with variations on the guide vane opening, blade rotational speed, head and load are carried out according to the IEC standard for model testing. From the tests and scale up calculation, the maximum prototype and model efficiency of the runner blade reaches as high as 90.87 % and 90.27 % respectively. Test results show that good cavitation behavior is covered in the range of output 50kW and 100 kW.

  • 액체로켓엔진용 산화제펌프의 수류시험을 상온에서 실시하였다. 수력성능시험 결과, 펌프의 양정 계수는 회전수가 커질수록 약간 감소하였고, 효율은 회전수가 커질수록 증가하였다. 흡입성능시험 결과, 유량비 92% 이하의 낮은 유량비에서 흡입성능이 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 시험 중 측정한 고주파 신호를 이용하여 펌프의 진동 특성을 분석하였다.

  • Recently, because the lubricating oil showed a tendency to be emulsified and oxidized by high speed, high output and the extension of maintenance & conservation of marine engine, the cavitation erosion-corrosion at such an environment became a big problem on effective performance of engine. Therefore, there was a need to study the behavior and protection of erosion-corrosion damage, and then applied inhibitor to a protective method of cavitation erosion- corrosion damage. At this time, test environments were marine lubricating oil & various emulsified oil that mixed distilled water and sea water etc., and also used 20KHz, 24.mu.m piezoelectric vibrator as an experimental apparatus of cavitation erosion. With this apparatus, we investigated an influence of the emulsified oil on characteristics of erosion-corrosion and protection for erosion-corrosion by inhibitor at slide bearing metals.

  • 모형 프로펠러 날개의 레이놀즈 수와 날개 앞날 표면거칠기 그리고 터널용수의 공기함유량이 모형 프로펠러의 캐비테이션 초기 발생, 캐비테이션 발생량 및 변동압력에 미치는 영향을 캐비테이션 터널에서 실험적으로 조사하였다. 'Sydney Express' 컨테이너선의 모형 프로펠러 캐비테이션 관찰과 변동압력 계측결과를 타 연구기관의 모형실험 결과와 실선 프로펠러의 캐비테이션 관찰 및 변동압력 계측치와 함께 비교하였다. 그 결과 매우 타당한 결과를 보여주었다.

  • 2차원 단면들의 캐비테이션 소음이 캐비테이션 터널에서 측정되었다. 새로운 실험방법이 2차원 단면의 소음측정을 위해 개발되었다. 스팬 600mm인 3종의 단면들이 캐비테이션 거동과 소음특성을 조사하기 위하여 설계 제작되었다. 실험 결과로부터 여러 가지 캐비테이션 형태에 대한 소음 특성 및 3종의 단면들의 소음성능을 분석할 수 있었다. 앞으로 저소음 프로펠러 단면이 현재의 실험방법을 이용하여 충분히 개발될 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • 고속 프로펠러들의 캐비테이션 소음특성이 KRISO의 캐비테이션 터널에서 실험적으로 연구되었다. 대형 고속선용 프로펠러에 대한 날개단면 및 부하분포의 변화에 대한 일련의 캐비테이션 소음이 계측되었으며, 이런 실험결과로부터 캐비테이션 형태 및 프로펠러 형상에 대한 소음성능이 분석되었다. 이러한 결과는 소음특성이 중요한 고속함정의 추진기 설계에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

  • As the operating range of centrifugal pump is expanded recently, the various suction conditions are demanded. The most important problem in the suction conditions is cavitation. In this study, to analyze the characteristics for such the cavitation, first the validity of the numerical analysis was certified through comparison with the experimental result of performance curve according to flow rate for the industrial centrifugal pump. At this time, the transient numerical analysis for the full type model of the centrifugal pump was performed to get more accurate results. The numerical analysis on the cavitation of centrifugal pump were conducted on the two-phase flow as the same method of one-phased flow.

  • A set of experiments using a 1/10 scale model pump which was manufactured to simulate performance of reactor coolant pump(RCP) of Y.G.N # 3 and 4, was executed in single phase(at atmospheric pressure and room temperature) and near-saturation(300 ~ 600kPa). The pump characteristics in single phase flow was similar to the characteristics of the RCP. The pump characteristic curves at nearly saturated state were correlated in terms of flow coefficient and head coefficient for subcooled temperature using the cavitation number defined as (equation omitted), which can be predicted the cavitation possibility. The pump behavior around the saturated temperature almost consists with single phase behavior until the cavitation occurs(When cavitation occurs. When the flow coefficient is about 0.12), the pump head rapidly degrades. In this situation, subcooled temperature is about 1.8~8$^{\circ}C$ and cavitation number of model pump is 1.0 ~ 1.7.

  • Recent primary concern for the design of high performance heat exchanger and highly integrated electronic equipments is to develop an active and creative technologies which enhance the heat transfer without obstructing the coolant flows. In this study, we found through the LDV measurement that the gaseous cavitation induced by ultrasonic vibration applied to the CO$_2$saturated water in the square cross-sectioned straight duct flow enhances the turbulence much more than the case of non-ultrasonic or normal ultrasonic conditions without gaseous cavitation does. We also found that gaseous cavitation can enhance effectively the turbulent heat transfer between the heating surfaces and coolants by destructing the viscous sublayer.
