Development of a Recursive Multinomial Probit Model and its Possible Application for Innovation Studies

  • This paper develops a recursive multinomial probit model and describes its estimation method. The recursive multinomial probit model is an extension of a recursive bivariate probit model. The main difference between the two models is that a single decision among two or more alternatives can be considered in each choice equation in the proposed model. The recursive multinomial probit model is developed based on a standard framework of the multinomial probit model and a Bayesian approach with a Gibbs sampling is adopted for the estimation. The simulation exercise with artificial data sets is showed that the model performed well. Since the recursive multinomial probit model can be applied to analyze the causal relationship between discrete dependent variables with more than two outcomes, the model can play an important role in extending the methodology of the causal relationship analysis in innovation research.

남해안 지역 음식점들의 서비스 품질, 지각된 가치와 만족도의 평가 (Measuring the Service Quality, Perceived Value and Satisfaction in Namhaean Area Restaurants)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the effects that service quality, perceived value and satisfaction have on loyalty in Namhaean area restaurants. A total of 273 questionnaires were completed. The structural equation model was used as an analysis method to measure the causal effects of service quality, perceived value, satisfaction and loyalty. The results demonstrated that the structural analysis result for the data was an excellent model fit. The effect of service quality on value, the effect of perceived sacrifice on value, the effect of service quality on satisfaction, the effect of value on satisfaction, and the effect of satisfaction on loyalty were statistically significant. Moreover service quality had an indirect effect on satisfaction through perceived value, and service quality also had an indirect effect on loyalty through perceived value and satisfaction. Perceived value had an indirect effect on loyalty, and an effect through satisfaction. Perceived sacrifice had an indirect effect on satisfaction through perceived value, and it also had an indirect effect on loyalty, and an effect through satisfaction. Further study is still required, and should be aimed at identifying the causal mechanisms of constructs, such that restaurant managers might be better prepared to offer value and satisfaction to their customers.

  • 정성적 추론은 자연 세계에 대한 정성적, 직관적인 지식을 밝혀내어 코드화하는 목표를 갖고 연구되어 왔다. 정성적 추론은 전자, 기계 등의 도메인에서 성공적으로 사용되어 그 실효성을 입증할 수 있었으나, 대부분의 추론은 시뮬레이션에 집중되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 주어진 상황에서 변화가 발생했을 때, 이 변화가 어떻게 영향을 미치며 파급되는지를 예측할 수 있는 정성적 비교분석 기법을 소개하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 파라미터의 상대적인 변화의 파급만을 예측한 기존의 연구에 상대적 변화의 증가율 변화에 대한 추론을 추가하여 확장하였다. 상대적인 주어진 상황에 대한 인과모델이 정성적 분야 모델로부터 형성되고, 여기에 비교분석 추론 기법을 적용하여 변화의 연쇄적인 인과 관계를 추적하게 된다. 이러한 기법은 변화의 예측 뿐 아니라, 이런 변화를 이끌어낸 인과 관계를 설명하는 기능을 제공하게 되어, 디자인, 진단, 지능형 교육 시스템, 환경 영향평가 등에 이용되리라 기대된다.

R&D 투자와 기술무역 간의 인과관계 분석 (A Causality Analysis between R&D Investment and Technology Trade)

  • 본 연구는 R&D 투자와 기술무역 변수들 간에 어떠한 인과관계가 있는지를 검토하고, 그 결과에 대한 정책적 함의를 제시함으로써 연구개발 활동의 촉진과 기술무역 활성화 방안을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이에 정부 R&D 투자, 민간 R&D 투자, 기술도입, 그리고 기술수출로 구성된 다변량 모형을 설정하고, 오차수정모형을 토대로 Granger-인과성 검정을 실시하였다. 분석결과 단기적으로는 총 5개의 인과관계가 성립하는 것으로 나타났고, 장기적으로는 정부 R&D 투자에서 기술수출로의 인과관계를 제외한 11개의 관계에서 인과성이 존재하는 것으로 확인되었다. 아울러 충격반응분석을 통해 시간의 흐름에 따라 각 변수들이 특정변수의 충격에 어떻게 반응하는지도 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 R&D 투자와 기술무역간의 인과관계를 실증적으로 분석함으로써 그 관계를 명확히 하고, 도출된 결과들을 토대로 연구개발 활동 및 기술무역진흥을 위한 시사점을 제시하고 있다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

남해안 관광지 식당의 음식서비스에 대한 내국인 관광객들의 가치 지각에 영향을 주는 요인 분석 (Measuring the Factors Influencing Customers' Value Perceptions of Foodservice in Namhaean Tourist Area's Restaurant)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the factors influencing customers’ value perception of foodservice in tourist area’s restaurant. A total of 273 questionnaires were completed. Structural equation model was used to measure the causal effects. Results of the study demonstrated that the confirmatory factor analysis model also indicated excellent model fit. The proposed model yielded a significantly better fit to the data than the parsimonious model and extended model. In proposed model, the effects of perceived sacrifice, overall service quality and customer satisfaction on perceived value were statistically significant. The effects of perceived value on loyalty intention were statistically significant. As expected, the overall service quality had a significant effect on customer satisfaction. Moreover, the customer satisfaction played a mediating role in the relationship between overall service quality and loyalty intention.

Analysis for the Causal Relationship of Education Quality Factors in Korea

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the causal relationship, in the perspective of Total Quality Management, among the education quality factors, which were suggested in the previous researches. Lee et al. [16] had tried to analyze the relationship among education factors, but they did not estimate the education factor using latent variable concept, which is very reasonable and efficient to represent the constructed concepts. So this study attempts to analyze the causal relationship among education quality factors, represented as latent variables used in structural equation modeling (SEM), and compared with each other. In this study, education quality factors were measured by several measures, constructed as several latent variables, and then processed with AMOS, the most efficient statistical package in the SEM area. In order to analyze the causal relationship among the education quality factors constructed as latent variables, this study designed the structural equation model with suggested factors and established several research hypotheses. This study discovered a prominent causality among the education quality factors, such as education leadership, student scholastic performance and satisfaction of education quality, which is similar to that of previous research. This outcome is really a unique Korean syndrome manifest within our educational career orientation.

균형성과표의 네 관점에 대한 인과관계 분석 : SCM 추진기업들의 경영성과를 중심으로 (Analysis of the Causal Relationship of Perspectives of Balanced Scorecard for SCM)

  • 본 연구는 공급사슬관리(SCM) 활동측면에서 발생하는 경영성과를 BSC 의 네 가지 관점으로 측정하였다. 네 가지 관점으로는 재무관점, 고객관점, 내부 프로세스관점, 학습 및 성장관점이 있으며, 이들 네 가지 관점들은 서로간의 인과관계가 있다. 따라서 SCM 을 추진하고 있는 기업들을 대상으로 이들 네 관점들에 대한 인과관계가 있음을 실증분석을 통하여 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 국내 SCM 을 추진 중인 134개 상장기업의 데이터를 사용하였으며 SPSS 12.0과 Amos 4.0을 이용하여 빈도분석, 요인분석, 신뢰성분석, 그리고 구조방정식 등을 수행하였다. 연구결과, 학습 및 성장성과, 내부 프로세스성과, 고객성과는 재무성과에 유의적인 영향을 주었으며, 학습 및 성장성과는 내부 프로세스성과와 고객성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 내부 프로세스성과의 경우에는 재무성과에 영향을 미쳤으나 고객성과에 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 내부 프로세스성과가 재무성과에 미치는 영향이 크기 때문인 것으로 판단된다.

감정적 신념, 양면 가치, 주관적 규범, 태도, 소비 의도와 육류 소비의 인과 관계 평가 (Measuring the Causal Relationships among Affective Belief, Ambivalence, Subjective Norm, Attitude, Intention to Consume and Meat Consumption)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the causal relationships among affective belief, ambivalence, subjective norm, attitude, intention to consume and meat consumption. A total of 318 questionnaires were completed. The structural equation model was used to measure the causal effects among constructs. The results demonstrated that the confirmatory factor analysis model provided excellent model fit. The proposed model yielded a significantly better fit to the data than the baseline model. The effects of affective belief, ambivalence and subjective norm on attitude were statistically significant. The effect of subjective norm on intention was statistically significant. As expected, subjective norm and attitude had significant effects on meat consumption. Moreover, affective belief, ambivalence and subjective norm had indirect influences on meat consumption. Subjective norm also had an indirect influence on intention. The overall findings offered strong empirical support for the intuitive notion that improving the level of attitude toward eating meat can increase favorable intentions and decrease unfavorable intentions to reduce future meat consumption.

공공서비스 중간고객의 품질, 만족, 신뢰의 인과모형 분석 (Analyzing the Causal Relationship between Qualities, Satisfaction, and Trust in Public Services: an Intermediary Customer Perspective)

  • From the perspective of employees working for public service agencies, we analyzed the causal relationship between service quality, relationship quality, design quality, customer satisfaction, and trust in public services. We conduct statistical analyses on the quality attributes we derived from a critical incident technique(CIT) analysis and build a measurement model, which has a second-order hierarchical structure. Survey data was collected from social work, childcare, and healthcare services. Using a structural equation modeling method, we identify a causal model and simultaneously estimate factor loadings and path coefficients. We find that all the quality dimensions are antecedents to satisfaction and then satisfaction precedes trust. The results show that service quality and design quality mediate in parallel the effect of relationship quality on satisfaction and both relationship and design qualities have stronger effects on satisfaction rather than service quality.

성과 창출 과정으로서의 e-러닝 교수설계 모형 (Investigation for an e-Learning Instructional Design Model for Business Performance)

  • The purpose of the study is to develop and validate an instructional design model from the perspective of the knowledge creation. To serve the purpose, the researcher conducted 1) literature review to find causal relationship model among knowledge creation factors and to propose a hypothetical instructional design model, 2) data analysis with 50 senior level e-Learning instructional designers, and 3) testing the fitness of the proposed model and relevant causal-relational hypotheses. Results indicate; 1) the proposed model fit to the empirical evidence, 2) 6 hypotheses among 11 were validated. A typical instructional designer's personal competency was evidenced as the most powerful independent variable that predicted knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing, and the application of the instructional models. However, the expected effect of instructional design models toward other dependent variable was not be found. In addition, further suggestions for the future research are addressed.
