하이브리드 촉매 연소기의 연소특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Studies on Combustion Characteristics of a Hybrid Catalytic Combustor)

  • The combustion characteristics of the hybrid catalytic(catalytic+thermal) combustor with a lean methane-air mixture on platinum catalyst were investigated numerically using a 2-D boundary layer model with detailed homogeneous and heterogeneous chemistries. for the more accurate calculations, the actual surface site density of monolith coated with platinum was decided by the comparison with experimental data. It was found that the homogeneous reactions in the monolith had little effect on the change of temperature profile, methane conversion rate and light off location. However, the radicals such as OH and CO were produced rapidly at exit by homogeneous reactions. The effect of operation conditions such as equivalence ratio, temperature, velocity, pressure and diameter of the monolith channel at the entrance were studied. In thermal combustor, the production of N$_2$O was more dominant than that of NO due to the relative importance of the reaction N$_2$+O(+M)→N$_2$O(+M). Finally the productions of CO and NOx by amount of methane addition were studied.

능금산법으로 제조된 페롭스카이트형 산화물에서 벤젠의 촉매연소반응 (Catalytic Combustion of Benzene over Perovskite-type Oxides Prepared Using Malic Acid Method)

  • 페롭스카이트형 산화물을 능금산법으로 합성하여 TG/DTA, XRD, XPS, TEM 및 $H_2$-TPR 등에 의해 특성분석을 하였고, 벤젠의 연소반응에서의 활성을 조사하였다. 대부분의 촉매들은 페롭스카이트 결정구조를 잘 가지고 있었으며 15에서 70 nm의 크기를 나타내었다. $LaMnO_3$ 촉매가 가장 높은 활성을 보여주었고 $350^{\circ}C$에서 거의 100%의 전환율을 나타내었다. 반응활성을 증가시키기 위해 페롭스카이트 산화물의 A-와 B-위치에 다른 금속이온의 치환을 행하였다. $LaMnO_3$ 촉매의 A-위치에 Sr을 일부분 치환시키면 벤젠의 전환율이 증가하였다. 또한, B-위치에 Co 및 Cu 이온의 치환 역시 촉매 활성을 증가시켰고, $LaMn_{1-x}B_xO_3$ (B = Co, Fe, Cu)형 페롭스카이트에서 촉매활성은 Co > Cu > Fe의 순서로 감소하였다.

초소형 연소기를 위한 촉매 합성, 담지방법 및 담지체 (Catalyst Preparations, Coating Methods, and Supports for Micro Combustor)

  • Catalytic combustion is one of the suitable methods for micro power source due to high energy density and it can be applied to micro structured chamber without consideration of quenching since it is flameless combustion. Catalyst loading in the micro structured combustion chamber is one of the most important issues in the development of micro catalytic combustors. In this research, to coat catalyst on the chamber wall, two methods were investigated. First, $Al_2O_3$ was selected as a support of Pt and $Pt/Al_2O_3$ was synthesized through the alumina sol-gel procedure. To improve the coating thickness and adhesion between catalyst and substrate, heat resistant and water solvable organic-inorganic hybrid binder was used. Porous silicon was also investigated as a catalyst support for platinum. Through the parametric studies of current density and etching time, fabrication process of $1{\sim}2{\mu}m$ of diameter and about $25{\mu}m$ depth pores was confirmed. Coated substrates were test in the micro channel combustor which was fabricated by the wet etching and machining of SUS 304. Using $Pt/Al_2O_3$ coated substrate and Pt coated porous silicon substrate, conversion rate of fuel was over 95 % for $H_2/Air$ premixed gas.

燃料油 燃燒에 미치는 有機金屬鹽의 助燃效果 (Combustibility Improving Effect of Organometallic Salt for Fuel Oil)

  • Catalytic effects of metallic salts on the combustion of diesel fuel oil have been studied. In the case of organometallic salt, the active species are the metallic oxides resulted from combustion of the salts. The oxides act only on the residual solid carbon produced from the fuel oil combustion. The catalytic activity can be explained with the semiconductor theory just as in the case of the gas phase reaction. The chemical rate constant of the combustion of carbon, the soot from diesel fuel oil, is found to be $k_c=1.1{\times}10^4\;exp$ (-16,600/T) below $800^{\circ}K$. By addition of metallic oxides, the rate constant increases remarkably. This work has substantiated the belief that the effect of the metallic salts on the fuel oil combustion can conveniently be studied by checking directly the effect of the corresponding metallic oxide on the soot carbon.

  • Anode off-gas of high temperature fuel cell still contains combustible components such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon. In this study, a catalytic combustor has been applied to the high temperature fuel cell so that the combustion of anode-off gas can be boosted up. Since the performance of catalytic combustor directly depends on the combustion catalyst, this study is designed to perform the experimental investigation on the combustion characteristics of the three commercial catalysts with a different composition. Screening tests with three catalysts are preceded before the performance examination since it is necessary to determine the most suitable catalyst for design configuration of the catalytic combustor. The performance analysis shows that methane conversion rate strongly depends on gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) as well as inlet gas temperature. Additionally, the GSHV optimization results show that the optimum GHSV will be in the range between 18,000 $hr^{-1}$ and 36,000 $hr^{-1}$. It is also shown that the minimum inlet temperature of catalytic reaction of methane is from $100^{\circ}C$ to $150^{\circ}C$.

  • In this study, we analyzed the LPG and LNG sensitivity measurement and voltage variation using catalytic type gas sensor characteristics in catalytic combustion type gas detecter sensors. gas detector shall operate as intended when exposed for 24 hours to air having a relative humidity of 0~85 percent at a temperature of $20[{\mu}m]$ and humidity of 45 percent at a temperature of $-10{\sim}40[^{\circ}C]$ the gas detecter sensors are to be subjected to operation for 210 days in an area that has been detemined to be equivalent to a typical residential atmosphere with an air velocity of 50 [cm/sec]. The source of energy for a gas detector sensors employing a supplementary basic circuit is energized from a separate source of supply direct applied voltage 2.1[V], 2.2[V], 2.3[V]. As a result, it was confirmed that the relative humidity and temperature by regression each analysis, compared to the LPG characteristic graph and methane characteristics graph by a relative humidity of 0 ~ 85 [%] at a temperature range of $-10{\sim}40[^{\circ}C]$ show a similar linear pattern on the whore.

  • Nickel oxide was deposited on mesoporous silica by atomic layer deposition (ALD) consisting of sequential exposures to Ni(cp)2 and $H_2O$. NiO/silica samples were characterized by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), etc. The flow-type reactor was used to measure activity of NiO/silica catalyst for catalytic combustion of toluene. The activity of NiO/silica catalyst was evaluated in terms of toluene removal efficiency and selectivity to $CO_2$ and compared with those of bare nickel oxide nanoparticles. In order to investigate influence of reaction temperature on combustion aspect, the catalytic combustion experiments were carried out at various temperatures. We show that both bare and supported NiO can be efficient catalysts for total oxidation of toluene at a temperature as low as $250^{\circ}C$.

메탄, 에탄 및 프로판 가스 연료의 촉매연소에 관한 매개변수 연구 (A Parametric Study on the Catalytic Combustion of Gaseous Methane, Ethane and Propane Fuels)

  • 촉매연소는 희박조건에서 작동할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 UHC, CO, 그리고 NOx와 같은 공해물질의 배출을 억제할 수 있기 때문에 연소효율이 좋고 환경친화적인 연소방식이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 백금계열의 촉매를 이용한 $CH_4$, $C_2H_6$, 그리고 $C_3H_8$ 연료의 촉매연소 특성에 관한 수치해석 연구를 수행하였다. 1차원 및 Langmuir-Hinshelwood 모델을 적용한 지배방정식을 설명한 후 촉매연소기의 설계변수, 즉, 입구온도, 과잉공기비, 그리고 공간속도가 촉매연소에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 사용된 연료 중에서 $C_3H_8$의 화학적 구조 및 반응성 때문에 출구온도 및 전환율이 가장 높음을 확인할 수 있었다.

침전법으로 제조된 CuO-CeO2 혼합산화물에서 벤젠의 촉매연소반응 (Catalytic Combustion of Benzene over CuO-CeO2 Mixed Oxides Prepared by Co-precipitation Method)

  • 공침전법으로 제조된 CuO-$CeO_2$ 혼합산화물 촉매에서 벤젠의 촉매연소 반응에 대해 연구하였다. CuO-$CeO_2$ 혼합산화물 촉매들은 침전제 및 CuO 전구체를 달리하여 제조하였고, XRD, BET, XPS 및 $H_2-TPR$에 의해 특성분석을 하였다. 침전제의 종류에 상관없이 CuO 피크가 $2{\Theta}=35.5^{\circ}$$38.5^{\circ}$에서 뚜렷하게 나타났다. $NH_4OH$를 침전제로 사용하여 제조한 Cu/(Cu+Ce)의 몰비율이 0.35인 촉매가 가장 높은 활성을 보여주었다. 또한, 수소로 전처리하면 벤젠 연소반응의 활성이 증가하였고, $400^{\circ}C$에서 수소로 전처리한 촉매가 가장 높은 활성을 보여주었다.
