  • Three-dimensional (3D) design data is used for various purposes throughout the life cycle of a plant construction project. Plant 3D CAD systems support 3D modeling based on specs-catalogs, which contain data that are used for different purposes such as design, procurement, production, and handover. Therefore, it is important to share the spec-catalog data in the 3D design model with other application systems. Sharing this data thus requires a system that extracts spec-catalog data from plant 3D CAD systems and converts them into neutral model data. In this paper, we analyze equipment spec-catalog data of plant 3D CAD systems and, based on these analyses, define the data structure for neutral spec-catalog data. We subsequently propose a procedure that translates native spec-catalog data to neutral model data and develop a prototype system that performs this operation. The proposed method is then experimentally validated for the test spec-catalog data.

  • We present the Korea Institute for Advanced Study Value-Added Galaxy Catalog (KIAS VAGC), a catalog of galaxies based on the Large Scale Structure (LSS) sample of New York University Value-Added Galaxy Catalog (NYU VAGC) Data Release 7. Our catalog supplements redshifts of 10,497 galaxies with 10 < $r_P\;{\leq}\;17.6$ (1455 with 10 < $r_P\;{\leq}\;14.5$) to the NYU VAGC LSS sample. Redshifts from various existing catalogs such as the Updated Zwicky Catalog, the IRAS Point Source Catalog Redshift Survey, the Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies, and the Two Degree Field Galaxy Redshift Survey have been put into the NYU VAGC photometric catalog. Our supplementation significantly improves spectroscopic completeness: the area covered by the spectroscopic sample with completeness higher than 95% increases from 2.119 to 1.737 sr. Our catalog also provides morphological types of all galaxies that are determined by the automated morphology classification scheme of Park & Choi (2005), and related parameters, together with fundamental photometry parameters supplied by the NYU VAGC. Our catalog contains matches to objects in the Max Planck for Astronomy (MPA) & Johns Hopkins University (JHU) spectrum measurements (Data Release 7). This new catalog, the KIAS VAGC, is complementary to the NYU VAGC and MPA-JHU catalog.

  • E-commerce and business information systems are being introduced in most of enterprises with the development of internet recently. Meanwhile the introduction of enterprise portal concepts and the enterprise informatization provide a necessary premise for insuring a competitive power. Therefore, it became necessary to research on the project of reusing the data of e-commerce. In this paper, we make a domestic maker the subject and implement a XML based electronic catalog(e-catalog) system for electronic commerce(e-commerce) based on web. The implemented XML based e-catalog system can reduce time and expenses needed for making, keeping and distribution in paper catalog systems. It also can correct the data reuse problems in the e-catalog systems implemented by HTML. Exchanging and reusing data used in e-commerce is essential to the integration between business information systems and points to the enterprise portal.

  • e-Catalog is defined as an electronically-described production information on the Web that includes various features of products and enables the customer interaction. Therefore the system is constructed with the database of all the information regarding manufacturing processes, order, cost, delivery. etc. The display of the e-Catalog is preferred to be 3 dimensional animated images in order to impress the customers. This work optimizes the 3D image conversion process from the design data to the e-Catalog data of products and automates the conversion process such that the human intervention can be minimized. The e-Catalog of electronic appliances are discussed as examples.

  • An e-catalog system provides whole product data and services by publishing newly updated information that connects PDM systems in an enterprise. With its capability to connect customers, suppliers, producers, distributors and downstream manufacturing activities, the e-catalog system can be applied to integrate e-business and provide immense business opportunities. In this paper we propose a framework focusing on constructing an efficient e-catalog system that can be used for online mass customization. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is validated with experimental results.

  • As electronic commerce becomes more common and the data volume of e-catalog increases, a systematic approach to data quality management is being required. Upon the necessity, we propose a process-based framework for e-catalog data quality management. This is the methodology for data management and improvement activities continuously performed to satisfy the expectation of industry to e-catalog systems. In the framework, contents for quality management consist of data, quality management items, and quality management processes. These are again subdivided according to organization levels, i.e, user, data administrator, and chief information officer.

  • Spatial information has recently been recognized as one of the major subjects of interest in information technology. With increasing variety and quantity of spatial data on the web, searching and maintaining these data are becoming a much focussed area of research. Interoperability is the key technology in solving the complexities of spatial data in web services. The problem of maintenance and searching of spatial data in an interoperable web service environment can be solved by establishing standardized metadata of spatial information. Then using the standardized metadata, catalog web services can be deployed for autonomous searching and binding of spatial data. This study investigates the international standard for spatial data metadata(ISO/TC211 19115) and deployed catalog web service based on this metadata. Various heterogeneous spatial data of Seoul Metropolitan region were then used for experimental implementation of catalog web service.

  • Data Alignment is achieved when all trading partners information systems are maintained automatically synchronising with the suppliers information systems on a continuing basis. Electronic catalogues facilitate the ongoing synchronisation of data between trading partners and large retailers in United States and Canada use electronic catalog in order to get rid of non-value added paperwork and manual reconciliation. Data Alignment will dramatically improve the effectiveness of E-Commerce and Supply Chain initiatives including electronic Marketplaces, Collaborative Planning and Forecasting and continuous replenishment processes.

  • ISO 13584 Parts Library (PLIB) standard is making its way into e-business as a norm for classifying products and their characteristics. PLIB is a multi-parts standard, and the Part 42: Methodology for structuring Parts families Provides the information model and design Principles for the data dictionary of parts library or e-catalog. If e-catalog systems are built using a data dictionary that is constructed based on PLIB dictionary data model, many different e-catalog systems can be easily integrated and interoperated. This paper studies the roles and requirements of the data dictionary in e-catalog, and applies the data model and design principles of PLIB Part 42 to construct a data dictionary from the viewpoint of ontology Based on the analysis results, we propose a data dictionary of die and mold parts, and implementat the B2B e-catalog system.

  • This study attempted at first to find out a more suitable form of catalog to guide library users who need subject approach through a literature survey, secondly to see how and which catalog form is kept by Korean research or special libraries through an analysing questionnaires, and thirdly to evaluate these data and explore the ways to improve the function of classified catalog in Korean research or special libraries. The findings of this study shows that a classified catalog is more desirable form of catalog in research or special libraries in Korea because of the diversity of languages of the literatures needed by researchers, the educational programs for librarians and the problems of subject heading lists. Above mentioned questionnaire survey shows that more than $70\%$ of research or special libraries in Korea uses classified catalogs. However, among those libraries - only $8\%$ has the index of cassified catalog which is prerequisite for the catalog users. This survey also indicates that recently many libraries began or converted classified catalogs to subject catalogs. The writer explains the beginnings or convertings of classified catalog to subject catalog is due to the fact that many libraries do not have the index of a classified catalog which is badly needed by the library users. Based on these findings, writer said that to improve the function of the present classified catalog, it should include it's index to guide the library users who are not familier with the classifing system of the subjects. Through the entire paper, the writer has attempted to develop a point of argument by comparing a classified catalog with a subject catalog. Writer's point is not only a subject catalog using the particular language terms as a communication tool has problems in itself, but also the prevailing of this catalog form in North America is caused by their different situations from ours.
