In order to compliant the stringent exhaust emission regulations, higher fuel efficiency and cleaner exhaust gas in combustion engines have been required. To improve combustion efficiency, an exhaust gas temperature is increasing, therefore higher temperature resistance is required for components in exhaust system, especially turbine wheel in turbocharger. IN100 looks quite attractive candidate as it has high temperature properties with low density, however it has low castability due to poor ductility at high temperature. In this study, the balance of Al and Ti composition was optimized from the base alloy IN100 to improve the high temperature ductility by expanding the γ single phase region below the solidification temperature, while obtaining the high temperature strength by maintaining the volume fraction of γ' phase equivalent to IN100 around 1000℃. Furthermore, the high temperature creep rupture life increased by adding a small amount of Ta. The alloy developed in this study has high castability, low density and high specific strength at high temperature.
The high alkaline property in the concrete pore solution protects the embedded steel in concrete from corrosion due to aggressive ions attack. However, a continuous supply of those ions, in particular, chlorides altogether with a pH fall in electrochemical reaction on the steel surface eventually depassivate the steel to corrode. To mitigate chloride-induced corrosion in concrete structures, finely grained mineral admixtures, for example, pulverized fuel ash (PFA), ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and silica fume (SF) have been often advised to replace ordinary Portland cement (OPC) partially as binder. A consistent assessment of those partial replacements has been rarely performed with respect to the resistance of each binder to corrosion, although the studies for each binder were extensively looked into in a way of measuring the corrosion rate, influence of microstructure or chemistry of chlorides ions with cement hydrations. The paper studies the behavior of steel corrosion, chloride transport, pore structure and buffering capacity of those cementitious binders. The corrosion rate of steel in mortars of OPC, 30% PFA, 60% GGBS and 10% SF respectively, with chloride in cast ranging from 0.0 to 3.0% by weight of binder was measured at 7, 28 and 150 days to determine the chloride threshold level and the rate of corrosion propagation, using the anodic polarization technique. Mercury intrusion porosimetry was also applied to cement pastes of each binder at 7 and 28 days to ensure the development of pore structure. Finally, the release rate of bound chlorides (i.e. buffering capacity) was measured at 150 days. The chloride threshold level was determined assuming that the corrosion rate is beyond 1-2 mA/$m^3$ at corrosion and the order of the level was OPC > 10% SF > 60% GGBS > 30% PFA. Mercury intrusion porosimetry showed that 10% SF paste produced the most dense pore structure, followed by 60% GGBS, 30% PFA and OPC pastes, respectively. It was found that OPC itself is beneficial in resisting to corrosion initiation, but use of pozzolanic materials as binders shows more resistance to chloride transport into concrete, thus delay the onset of corrosion.
This steel has been synthesized integrating concepts from Austempering Ductile Cast Iron (ADI) technology. While ADI has excellent mechanical and physical properties, the Young's modules of ADI is approximately 20% lower than steel. In addition, the presence of graphite nodules in ADI can be sites of crack initiation, where fracture takes place at graphite matrix interface. Because of this limitations of ADI, there has been a growing interest in austempered steels as structural materials in resent years. In this investigation, a new steel with microstructure composed of ferrite and austenite and with simultaneous high tensile strength (1,150 MPa) and high ductility (33%) was developed. The goal of this investigation is to obtain a better understanding of deformation and transformation behaviour in high carbon retained austenite(${\gamma}_{HC}$) and over-saturated ferrite(${\alpha}$) during the plastic deformation. A detailed study of the microstructure of this steel was carried out by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electron back scattering diffraction (EBSD) technic. In this way it was shown that BCC phase (BCC) took up the larger part of the nominal strain whereas the a part of retained austenite responded to the mechanincal load by partial martensite transformation, and misorientation change in the retained austenite after plastic strain could be attributed to the large elongation.

To reduce the story height for high-rise buildings, the TEC Beam is developed as a new composite beam composed of structural tee, precast concrete, stirrup, and site-in-cast reinforced concrete slab. The preliminary test of the proposed system was performed for simple beams and it showed a good behavior. However, for the field application of the system, it is required to develope a steel moment resisting connection using steel brackets on which upper rebars of the TEC BEAM are anchored. In this paper, three types of the proposed system are experimentally investigated. The parameters of the test are as follows: (1) the spacing of transverse bars, (2) the ratio of width of rebar's layer to bracket length. Specimens were classified as semi-rigid full strength by the Eurocode 4. It could be concluded that the proposed moment resisting system shows a good structural behavior and may be applicable in the filed.
The following results were obtained, microstructures and tensile properties in arc brazed joints of DP(dual phase) steel using Cu-5.3wt%Sn insert metal was investigated as function of brazing current. 1) The Fusion Zone was composed of ${\alpha}Fe+{\gamma}Cu$ and Cu23Sn2. The reason for the formation of these solid solutions. Despite, Fe & Cu were impossible to solid solution at room temperature. It's melting & reaction to something of insert metal & Base Metal (DP Steel) by Arc. Brazing Process has faster cooling rate then Cast Process, Supersaturated solid solution at room temperature. 2) The increase Hardness of Fusion Zone was directly proportional to the rise of welding current. Because, ${\alpha}Fe+{\gamma}Cu$ phase (higher hardness than the Cu23Sn2.(104.1Hv < 271.9Hv)) Volume fraction was Growth, due to increasing the amount of base metal melting by High current. 3) The results of tensile shear test by Brazing, All specimens happen to fracture in Fusion Zone. On the other hand, when Brazing Current increasing tend to rise tensile load. but it was very small, about 26-30% of the base metal. 4) The result of fracture analysis, The crack initiate at Triple Point for meet to Upper B.M/Under B.M/Fusion Zone. This Crack propagated to Fusion zone. So ruptured by tensile strength. The Reason to in the fusion zone fracture, Fusion zone by Brazing of hardness (strength) was very lower then the base metal (DP steel). In addition the Fusion Zone's thickness in triple point was thin than the base metal's thickness in triple point.
This paper presents a reinforced concrete composite column method in order to improve seismic performance of reinforced concrete column specimens by selectively applying steel fiber-reinforced mortars at the column plastic hinge region. In order to evaluate seismic improvement of the newly developed column method, a series of cyclic load test of column specimens under a constant axial load was investigated by manufacturing three specimens, two reinforced concrete composite columns by applying steel fiber-reinforced mortars at the column plastic hinge region and one conventional reinforced concrete column. Both concrete and steel fiber-reinforced mortar was cast-in placed type. From cyclic load test, it was found that the newly developed steel fiber-reinforced columns showed improved seismic performances than conventional reinforced concrete column in controlling bending and shear cracks as well as improving seismic lateral load-carrying capacities and lateral deformation capacities.
The pitting corrosion behavior of 329LD cast lean duplex stainless steel and CF3M cast austenitic stainless steel was investigated in chloride environments. The pitting corrosion resistance of the 329LD alloy was superior to that of the CF3M alloy because the pitting potential, passive region, and critical pitting temperature of the low Ni-low Mo 329LD alloy were higher than those of the high Ni-medium Mo commercial CF3M alloy. There are two main reasons for the enhancement of the pitting corrosion resistance of high Cr-low Momedium N 329LD alloy compared to the low Cr-medium Mo CF3M alloy: First, the pitting resistance equivalent number (PRENδ+γ) value of the 329LD alloy is higher than that of the CF3M alloy. Second, the passive region of the 329LD alloy is larger than that of the CF3M alloy. It indicates that the synergistic effect of the three elements by adding high Cr and low Mo-medium N to the 329LD alloy enhances the passivity of the passive film, thereby increasing the pitting corrosion resistance. It was verified that based on the PRENγ of austenite (γ) and PRENδ of ferrite (δ) values calculated using an N-factor of 16, the pitting corrosion of the 329LD alloy was selectively initiated at the γ-phases because PRENγ value of austenite (γ) was smaller than that of ferrite (δ), and finally propagated from the γ-phase to the δ-phase.

Drilling tests were carried out austempered ductile castiron(ADI) to clarify the factors influencing the drilling characteristics of ADI material. The machinability of material was evaluated using high speed steel drill and cobalt contained drill of 6mm diameter. The spheroidal graphite cast iron materials were austenized at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour and then wear was kept at 375$^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Austempered ductile cast iron contains a great deal of retaine austenite which contributes to an improvement of impact strength, In this paper, machinability of ADI was investigated by drilling experimentation. The results obtained are as follows: a)Flank wear increases logarithmically with the increases of cutting time. b) Relation of flank wear and cutting force can be appiled to $F_z$ = 925VB + 820 for the cutting suggested condition. c) Drilling hole number of about 2 times can be reduced more step feed than ordinary feed due to the high hardness of ADI material and hardness increasing ascribed to the martensite of retained austenite.

The surface rolling for cylindrical surface of a grey cast iron was carried out using a lathe with a simple newly-designed tool system. A surface rolling tool used was steel ball whose diameter was 3/8 inch (9.525mm) The effects of rolling feeds and number of rolling on surface rolling were investigated. The contact pressure between ball and workpiece which was considered as Hertz's contact problem was examined and the track of motion of a ball on the cylindrical surface of a work- piece was measured according to the rolling feed. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The roughness of the machined surface which was originally 5.3 .approx. 28 umRz decreased to 1.2 .approx. 5 umRz according to rolling feeds and numbers of rolling. 2. The hardness increased from Hv 260 to Hv 290 .approx. 310 through 2 .approx. 4 rollings according to the roughness of machined surfaces. 3. The reduction of diameter was found to be proportional to the variations of roughness of previous machined surfaces. About 60% to 90% of reduction in diameter was made during the first rolling process. 4. An equation relating the reduction of diameter and the variation of surface roughness after surface rolling was presented using a geometric surface model. 5. An equation for the calculation of dynamic contact area between pressure ball and workpiece according to the rolling feed was presented.
In a numerical study, equations relating the mechanical properties and cooling rate in a casting process have been applied to an AC4CH cast aluminum alloy. Good agreement was found between the measured and predicted material properties. Step-shaped steel blocks were made to comprise a casting mold with a Y-shaped cavity. Thermometers were inserted into each step of the mold to investigate temperature changes. The microstructure and mechanical properties, such as hardness and tensile stress were measured for each cut of piece. The correlation between the cooling rate and SDAS was found by curved fitting. Moreover, both the solidification time and the temperature were simulated using a commercial package, ZCast. The simulation results for yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and hardness were compared with experimental results. Using the estimated K and n values, the hardness values of a ship propeller were simulated, and the results were similar to those obtained for actual castings.
