  • This study analyzes about poclain bucket through fatigue durability analysis. Maximum equivalent stress and total deformation are shown at the lower of bucket and edge part respectively. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample history' with the average stress of -10000Pa to 5000MPa and the amplitude stress of 0 to 6000MPa, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 3%. This stress state can be shown with 5 or 6 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. The structural result of this study can be effectively utilized with the design of poclain bucket by investigating prevention and durability against fatigue damage.

  • This study investigates structural and fatigue analyses at bicycle pedal. Maximum deformation at model 1 is 2 times as much as model 2 at static analysis. Models 1 and 2 have the possibility of the weakest strength at the part of contact with chain gear. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads at Models 1 and 2, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample history' with the average stress of 0 to $-10^4$ MPa and the amplitude stress of 0 to $10^4$ MPa, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 4%. This stress state can be shown with 5 to 7 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. The analysis result of this study can be effectively utilized with the safe design of pedal.

  • Jeon Suk-hee worked as permanent licensed Uisaeng (medical cadet) in Dalseong the Japanese occupation. The his newly discovered medical records were analyzed for the actual medical aspects of local Uisaeng. This article examined the medical view and treatment method of Jeon Suk-hee through the analysis of medical records, reveals facts which include : 1) The medical treatment was based on korean medical classification and treatment. This, along with the case of Cheongkang Kim Young-hoon, is an example of the preservation of traditional Korean medicine during the Japanese colonial period. 2) There is little effect of Shanghanlun (Treatise on Cold Damage). One side of Joseon medicine, which had a weak tradition of Shanghan, is revealed. 3) It did not simply follow the existing prescription of korean medicine's book. Examples include use of Cheongsin-san and Jeongjin-tang, which cannot be found in existing prescriptions.

  • This study analyzes structural stress and fatigue on control arm of automobile under nonuniform load. Maximum equivalent stress at bolt part is shown with 419.1MPa and the corner is deformed with maximum displacement of 1.1628mm. Among 3 cases of nonuniform fatigue loads applying on control arm, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample history' with the average stress of $-10^5MPa$ to $10^5MPa$ and the amplitude stress of 0 MPa to $10^5MPa$, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 3%. This stress state can be shown with 6 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. Safety and durability on automobile can be effectively improved by applying the fatigue analysis result on control arm.

  • This study aims to extract key topics through text mining of incident records (incident history, post-incident measures, preventive measures) from construction safety accident case data available on the public data portal. It also seeks to provide fundamental insights contributing to the establishment of manuals for disaster prevention by identifying correlations between these topics. After pre-processing the input data, we used the LDA-based topic modeling technique to derive the main topics. Consequently, we obtained five topics related to incident history, and four topics each related to post-incident measures and preventive measures. Although no dominant patterns emerged from the topic pattern analysis, the study holds significance as it provides quantitative information on the follow-up actions related to the incident history, thereby suggesting practical implications for the establishment of a preventive decision-making system through the linkage between accident history and subsequent measures for reccurrence prevention.

  • History and philosophy of science has been consistently emphasized in science education for various purposes. In accordance with the introduction of the 2015 revised curriculum, history of science could be implemented for the curriculum; designing well-organized learning strategies is required. This study examines the case of undergraduate students who solved the convergence problem based on history and philosophy of science in the problem-based learning program. In particular, this study tries to find strategies for integrated education by comparing the problem structuring process and the meaning of problem solving experience of science/engineering and humanities/social sciences students. Participants were three students majoring in science/engineering and humanities/social sciences. Participants constructed and solved their own convergence problems by integrating the domains that were familiar to them into history and philosophy of science. While the process of structuring the problems and the use of history and philosophy of science were similar, there were differences between the science/engineering and humanities/social sciences students' point of view on history and philosophy of science and the other domain which they choose. Moreover, there were differences between the two group's meanings of problem solving experience. Finally, based on the results of this study, history and philosophy in science provided some implications in the context of science education and integrated education.

  • Rhinitis, inflammation of the nasal cavity caused by the disease in our country that a recent trend is the rapidly increasing number of patients. It causes multiple complications and interfere with daily life and social life in case of being viewed as a mild cold. The rhinitis treatment for symptomatic therapy in modern medicine is staying because the situation is exposing the limitations. so traditional medicine is trying to find a solution but that is not easy. In modern medicine, rhinitis is defined as a set of histological lesions and clinical symptoms, but traditional medicine has developed in dealing with each symptoms in disease. The treatment that doesn't distinguish any treatment in growing numbers of patients does not seem to validate, because doctors treat without considering the difference of recognition. Looking at the symptoms for each, I found that each symptoms and causes are varied according to doctors and era. In spite of considering all of that in treatment, it was ignored or underestimated in modern medicine. Furthermore, in traditional medicine, they just conjugated certain period theory and only had limited treatment by a lack of integrated awareness about definition and mechanism. In addition, in case of mentioning about the causes of prescription in each medical books, there were not enough explain about pathological states. Therefore, these causes should be made to further the research about the validity, pathogenesis and treatment. We can see that theory could be established and modified by the accumulation of clinical experience, observations through classification by each of the causes, prescription and treatment. In traditional medicine simply does not pay attention only to nasal inflammation, such as the impact of Meridian and organs considered to have focused on the fundamental treatment. This increased immune resistance to the modern rhinitis patients may offer new therapeutic approaches. I hope this paper would be helpful to find the treatment with uncovered theory in modern medicine.

  • This study investigated Hua Tuo's Shang-han theory, which precedes the period of Zhang Zhong Jing's Shang-han theory, and considers the relationship between the two approaches. Researchers compared terminology and language of Hua Tuo's Shang-han theory as published in Theory in Qian Jin Yao Fang and Wai Tai Mi Yao, with Zhang Zhong Jing's Shang-han theory. In Hua Tuo's theory, Shang-han involves pathogenic invasion of the body surface, where the pathogen transforms to 6 different stages, Pi (皮), Fu (膚), Ji (肌), Xiong (胸), Fu (腹), Wei (胃). Among these, the stage sof Pi (皮), Fu (膚), Ji (肌) can be considered as exterior syndrome (表證). Those that invade the lower chest can be considered as lower chest disease, and those that violate the abdomen or stomach can be considered as Interior heat excess syndrome (裏熱實證). Stomach heat excess syndrome (胃中實熱證) is the most severe and is similar to septicaemia or bubonic plague. Hua Tuo's treatment used three methods which are 汗 (perspiration), 吐 (emesis), 下 (purgation). In the case of Phlegm syndrome (痰?證), HuoTuo's theory was similar to Zhang Zhong Jing's Shang-han exterior syndrome (傷寒表證) and therefore used Zhuling-powder (猪?散). In the case of deficiency hot flush Syndrome (虛煩證) in Shang-han disease, HuoTuo uses ZhuYe-decoction (竹葉湯), of which the drug contents is the same as Zhang Zhong Jing's ZhuYeShiGao-decoction (竹葉石膏湯), which was used for the same condition.

  • In this study we investigated the effect of medical history on the incidence of stroke in Korean population. 217 stroke patients were enrolled as a case group. 160 non-stroke patients and 146 normal and non-stroke patients were enrolled as a control and a normal group, respectively, from Jul. 2005 to Mar. 2007. Stroke patients were hospitalized within 2 weeks after the onset of stroke. Medical history was gathered by interviewing each patient. Clinical data were analyzed using SAS software (ver 9.1). Hypertension and diabetes mellitus (DM) were statistically significant in a case group when compared with control and normal groups. Other parameters, such as transient ischemic attack, hyperlipidemia, ischemic heart disease, facial palsy, migraine, and hypochondria, did not show any statistical significance. The same association pattern was observed in the ischemic stroke patients of case group. On the other hand, hemorrhagic stroke patients of case group showed a significant difference in DM when compared with other subject groups. More efficient therapeutic strategy should be considered for patients with medical history, especially hypertensin and DM, to reduce the stroke incidence in Korean population.

  • Background: Several potential risk factors have been identified for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL); however, epidemiological studies investigating the association between these risk factors and DLBCL have yielded inconsistent results. Objectives: To investigate potential medical, lifestyle, and environmental risk factors of DLBCL in Shanghai, China through a hospital-based case-control study. Method: One-hundred-and-forty-seven newly diagnosed DLBCL patients and 294 sex- and age-matched controls were recruited from 11 hospitals in Shanghai between 2003 and 2007. A standardized structured questionnaire was used to obtain patient data on demographics, medical history, family history, lifestyle, and environmental exposures. Conditional logistic regression models were used to estimate odds ratios (ORs), with 95% confidence intervals (CIs), for risk associated with each data category. Results: History of tuberculosis (TB) infection and "living on a farm" were positively associated with DLBCL (TB: OR=3.05, 95% CI: 1.19-7.80; farm: OR=1.82, 95% CI: 1.21-2.73). In contrast, taking traditional Chinese medicine was negatively associated with DLBCL (OR=0.36, 95% CI: 0.14-0.89). No significant correlation with DLBCL risk was found for any of the other potential risk factors (p>0.05), including but not limited to hair dyes, alcohol drinking, smoking, and home/workplace renovation within one year. Conclusions: Consistent with results from previous studies in other DLBCL case populations, traditional Chinese medicine appeared to have a direct or indirect protective effect against DLBCL. However, this study also identified a possible predisposition for DLBCL in TB sufferers and farmers.
