A large parosteal osteoma arising on the surface of the right clavicle of a 39-year-old male patient was suspected preoperatively as a parosteal osteosarcoma. The lesion was treated with wide resection and allograft reconstruction. In this case report, we discuss the accurate diagnosis and appropriate surgical treatment for unusual clavicular tumors.

This article presents a case report of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) involving the ankle and foot; the bee-venom herbal acupuncture (BVH) was performed as part of a pain management program. An 46-year-old man presented with CRPS in the left lower extremity that was inadequately controlled with typical oral medication. Sympathetic block the extremity did not provide significant pain relief. However, BVH resulted in significant pain relief and improvement in patient's attitude. This case report showed that BVH may be efficacious in treating patients with CRPS. Further study is needed to determine the effects of BVH on symptoms related to CRPS.

We experienced a case of acquired benign bronchoesophageal fistula associated esophageal diverticulum which was treated successfully by division of ~stulous tract and esophageal diverticulectomy.Benign bronchoesophageal fistulas associated with esophageal diverticulum are very rare. This presentation is characterized by paroxysmal cough especially after drinking liquids and is easily diagnosed by esophagogram. We report a case with review of literatures.

The Ewing`s sarcoma is the primary malignant bone tumor but the tumor also occurs as a primary soft tissue neoplasm without involvement of bone. Here is presented a case of extraskeletal Ewing`s sarcoma in the posterior and superior mediastinum with review of literature. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of extraskeletal Ewing`s sarcoma in Korea.

We experienced a case of esophago-pericardial fistula with cardiac tamponade which was treated successfully by pericardial drainage, closure of the fistula and adequate antibiotic therapy. Esophago-pericardial fistula is rare, often fatal and a demanding surgical emergency. We report a case with review of literatures.

Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the quality of case reports published in the Journal of Pediatrics of Korean Medicine from May 2018 to December 2023 and compare them with case reports from January 2015 to April 2018. Methods Case reports were searched on the Journal of Pediatrics of Korean Medicine website, and the selected reports were evaluated for CARE (CAse REport) guideline. Results There were a total of nine case reports selected for evaluation. The median value evaluated as 'sufficiently' increased compared to the case reports from January 2015 to April 2018 (61.5%→70.37%). The 'Not reported' rates of item 7 'Timeline of case' and item 10d 'Adverse and unanticipated events' decreased the most. However, since the 'Not reported' rate still exceeds 50%, continuous improvement is needed. Both item 11a 'Strengths and limitations of discussion', item 1 'The word "case report" and item 10a 'Clinician and patient-assessed outcomes' were reported 100% 'sufficiently,' and the quality of reports improved. Conclusions Case reports published in the Journal of Pediatrics of Korean Medicine are generally improving in quality of reporting.

Introduction The case report provides pivotal basis for clinical research and education, however systematically organized guideline for reporting case report was not properly applied and it tackled the development of traditional medicine in Korea. The purpose of this study was to implement guideline for reporting CAse REport(CARE guideline) incorporating unique characteristics of Sasang medicine with the help of examples and explanations. Methods and Results The guideline for reporting CAse REport for Sasang medicine(CARES guideline) including diagnosis of traditional medicine and treatment with acupuncture and medical herbs was suggested, and practical examples explaining details of each CARES items were provided. Discussion and Conclusion This study would provide foundation for consensus-based and common CARE guideline for traditional Korean medicine. And, the CARES guideline would provide clinical platform for developing refined Sasang type differentiation technique using reported biopsychosocial and clinical type-specific features and realistic cases for Problem Based Learning courses as evidence-based education.

Objectives : The purpose of this report was to provide the information of activity and safety of galgeun-tang by analyzing domestic/international papers and theses about galgeun-tang. Methods : Domestic/international papers and theses related to galgeun-tang were reviewed and analyzed. These papers were then classified by efficacy, or clinical trials. Results : The basic pharmacological experiment showed antipyretic, analgesic and anti-virus and anti-oxidant efficacy of galgeun-tang. In the case report of galgeun-tang, it showed therapeutic effect for patient with chronic rhinitis. But administration of galgeun-tang induced pruritic eruption in the two case report as a side effects of galgeun-tang. Conclutions : galgeun-tang showed tantipyretic, analgesic and anti-virus and anti-oxidant efficacy in the basic pharmacological experiment. Also, galgeun-tang showed therapeutic effect for patient with chronic rhinitis. But it was reported that galgeun-tang induced pruritic eruption in two case report, so physicians should be aware of the potential side effects.

Objectives: This report aims to present the case of Korean medicine therapies including Samilsingi-hwan on recurrent hyponatremia in the elderly. Method: A laboratory test was conducted on a patient with general weakness, anorexia, and excess salivation. The patient was diagnosed with hyponatremia and so received intravenous fluid treatment. Results: We continued fluid treatment until electrolyte levels of sodium returned to normal, but the levels gradually dropped repeatedly when the fluid treatment was discontinued. After changing the herbal medicine to Samilsingi-hwan, recurrence of hyponatremia was not seen, even after stopping the fluid treatment. Clinical symptoms also improved during 35 days of hospitalization. Conclusion: This case demonstrates that Samilsingi-hwan may be effective in recurrent hyponatremia in the elderly. Further research is needed.

Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada(VKH) Disease is a bilateral granulomatous uveitis often associated with exudative retinal detachment and extraocular manifestations, such as pleocytosis in the cerebrospinal fluid and, in some case, vitiligo, poliosis, alopecia, and dysacusis. There has been no previous report for the disease in the field of Korean traditional medicine. The case was treated with conventional medical intervention and Korean traditional treatment including acupuncture and herbal medicine. The case was discharged with improvement in fundus photography and optical coherence tomography. The authors report the case to suggest that Korean medical approach combined with conventional treatment can be helpful for the disease.
