Restoration of the isotopic composition of reprocessed uranium hexafluoride using cascade with additional product

  • In reprocessed uranium, derived from an impoverished fuel of light-water moderated reactors, there are isotopes of 232, 234, 236U, which make its recycling remarkably difficult. A method of concentration of 235U target isotope in cascade's additional product was proposed to recover the isotopic composition of reprocessed uranium. A general calculation procedure is presented and a parameters' optimization of multi-flow cascades with additional products. For the first time a numeric model of a cascade that uses the cuts of partial flows of stages with relatively high separation factors was applied in this procedure. A novel computing experiment is carried out on separation of reprocessed uranium hexafluoride with providing a high concentration of 235U in cascade's additional product with subsequent dilution. The parameters of cascades' stages are determined so as to allow reducing the 232, 234, 236U isotope content up to the acceptable. It was demonstrated that the dilution of selected products by the natural waste makes it possible to receive a low enriched uranium hexafluoride that meets the ASTM C996-15 specification for commercial grade.

단순 RDF 메시지의 온톨로지 상호 운용성을 위한 변환 규칙들의 연쇄 조합 (Cascade Composition of Translation Rules for the Ontology Interoperability of Simple RDF Message)

  • 최근 모바일과 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에서 보다 지능적인 다양한 서비스를 제공하고자 하는 비즈니스 전략과 함께 온톨로지 기술이 큰 관심이 되고 있다. 온톨로지를 이용하는 응용 도메인에서의 본질적 문제점은 모든 영역 구성원, 에이전트, 응용 프로그램이 온톨로지에서 정의된 동일 개념을 공유해야 하는 것이다. 하지만, 다양한 제조업자에 의해서 만들어지는 다양한 모바일 디바이스, 센싱 디바이스, 네트워크 구성요소, 다양한 통신 사업자, 다양한 서비스 제공업자 들이 모여 이루어지는 모바일과 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경에서는 서로 상이한 온톨로지가 공존할 가능성이 높다. 이러한 의미적 상호 운용성의 문제를 해결하고자 했던 다수의 연구가 있다. 이를 크게 분류하면, 맵핑, 합병, 변환에 의한 방법들이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 방법들 중 OntoMorph와 같이 상이한 온톨로지 데이타들 간에 변환 규칙을 직접 작성하여 사용하는 방법에 초점을 맞춘다. 하지만 이러한 변환 규칙을 수작업으로 직접 작성하는 방법은, 그 자체도 어려울뿐더러 N개의 온톨로지가 존재할 경우 최악의 경우 $O(N^2)$의 변환 규칙 작성 복잡도를 갖는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 복잡도를 개선하기 위한, 웹의 개방성에 근거한 연쇄 조합 변환 규칙 생성의 개념을 소개한다. 연구 성과는 변환 규칙의 변환의 신속성, 변환의 적합성, 변환 규칙 작성의 용이성 등의 중요한 평가 요소를 도출할 수 있었으며, 몇 가지 실험 및 기존 연구와의 비교 분석을 통하여 제안된 방법이 신속성과 정확성을 보장하면서 보다 높은 용이성을 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

InGaAs/InAlAs Quantum Cascade Lasers Grown by using Metal-organic Vapor-phase Epitaxy

  • In this paper, InP-based InGaAs/InAlAs quantum cascade lasers(QCLs) providing nearly zero emission wavelength mismatch between the measured emission wavelength and the designed transition wavelength of QCLs is presented. The zero emission wavelength mismatch of QCLs influenced by both the accurate compositions and thicknesses of the low-pressure metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy(MOVPE) grown InGaAs and InAlAs layers throughout the core and the abrupt composition transitions between InGaAs and InAlAs layers. The abrupt interfaces between InGaAs and InAlAs layers have been achieved throughout the core structure by means of controlling individually purged vent/run valves of a closed coupled showerhead reactor. In addition, maintaining substrate temperature constant during InGaAs/InAlAs core growth was a partial factor of uniformity improvement of QCLs. These approaches for reducing the possible discrepancies between the designed and MOVPE grown epitaxial structures could lead to improvement of QCL performance.

LNG FPSO에 적용가능한 신액화 사이클의 효율 및 엑서지 분석 (Efficiency and Exergy Analysis of New Liquefaction Cycles Applied for LNG FPSO)

  • 본 논문에서는 $CO_2-C_2H_6-N_2$$CO_2-N_2$를 각각 적용한 캐스케이드 액화사이클을 새롭게 제안하고, HYSYS를 이용하여 이에 대한 성능 및 엑서지를 분석한 후, 이 사이클이 LNG-FPSO선에 적용가능여부를 확인하였다. 그 분석 결과로부터, 효율적인 측면에서는 $CO_2-C_2H_6-N_2$ 액화사이클이 우수하였고, 엑서지 손실측면에서는 장치 수가 적은 $CO_2-N_2$ 액화사이클이 오히려 높게 나왔다. 그리고 $CO_2-N_2$ 냉매용액화사이클은 기존의 $C_3H_8-C_2H_4-C_1H_4$ 보다 낮은 효율과 높은 압축일량을 보였다. 하지만, $N_2$ 사이클의 효율이 더 개선된다면 액화사이클의 구조가 간단하기 때문에 LNG-FPSO용 액화사이클로서 적합할 것으로 생각된다.

  • A mathematical model is developed for thermal solution copolymerization of styrene and acrylonitrile in a continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR). Computational studies are carried out with the continuous copolymerization system model developed in this work to give the monomer conversion, copolymer composition and the average molecular weights of the copolymer. By performing the dynamic analysis of the reaction system, the polymer properties against the changes in the operating conditions are determined quantitatively. The cascade PID and fuzzy controller show satisfactory performances for both set point tracking and disturbance rejection. Especially, the fuzzy controller is superior to the PID controller.

  • This paper describes a pseudo-random carrier PW technique for the power converters. The proposed method generates a new pseudo-random carrier by randomly composing a carrier with fixed frequency and a carrier with opposition phase. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, a single-phase multi-level inverter was implemented and tested. The experimental results show that the output voltage and current harmonics spectra of an inverter have broadening effect of harmonics, as only simple composition of fixed frequency carries.

반도체 식각공정을 위한 비가연성 혼합냉매 줄톰슨 냉동기 설계 (Design of Non-flammable Mixed Refrigerant Joule-Thomson Refrigerator for Semiconductor Etching Process)

  • A cryogenic Mixed Refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigeration cycle was designed to be applied to the semiconductor etching process with non-flammable constituents. 3-stage cascade refrigerator, single mixed refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigerator, and 2-stage cascade type mixed refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigerator are analyzed to figure out the coefficient of performance. Non-flammable mixture of argon(Ar), tetrafluoromethane(R14), trifluoromethane (R23) and octafluoropropane(R218) were utilized to analyze the refrigeration cycle efficiency. The designed refrigeration cycle was adapted to cool down the coolant of HFE7200(Ethoxy-nonafluorobutane, C4F9OC2H5) with certain constraints. Maximum coefficient of performance of the refrigeration system is obtained as 0.289 for the cooling temperature lower than -100℃. The detailed result of the coefficient of performance according to the mixture composition is discussed in this study.

  • 4성분계 다중반응이 반응증류 탑 내에서 발생할 때 증류거동의 변화를 시각화 방법을 통해 분석하였다. 시각화 방법이란 단순 증류의 물질수지에 각 반응에 의한 벡터를 추가하고 이를 공간상에 표현하는 것으로 각 단에서 혼합물의 조성 변화 및 반응의 진척도를 직관적으로 알 수 있다. 또한 이를 통해 주어진 운전조건에서 필요한 총 단수 및 최적반응 단의 위치를 결정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 에틸렌글리콜(Ethylene glycol) 생산공정을 시각화 방법을 통해 분석하였다. 제안된 시각화 방법을 사용하여 복잡한 실험이나 공정모사 없이 4성분계 다중반응증류 공정에 대한 타당성 평가 및 분석이 가능하다.

Robust Stability eEaluation of Multi-loop Control Systems Based on Experimental Data of Frequency Response

  • In this paper, we describe the composition of frequency response bands based on experimental data of plants (controlled systems) with uncertainty and nonlinearity, and the robust stability evaluation of feedback control systems. Analysis and design of control systems using the upper and lower bounds of such experimental data would be effective as a practicable method which is not heavily dependent upon mathematical models such as the transfer function. First, we present a method to composite gain characteristic bands of frequency response of cascade connected plants with uncertainty and a recurrent inequality for the composition. Next, evaluation methods of the robust stability of multi-loop control systems obtained through feedback from the output terminals and multi-loop control systems obtained through feedback into the input terminals are described. In actual control systems, experimental data of frequency responses often depends on the amplitude of input. Therefore, we present the evaluation method of the nominal value and the width of the frequency response band in such a case, and finally give numerical examples based on virtual experimental data.

Characteristics of Aerosol Composition at Jeju City, Korea

  • Aerosol measurement were carried out to investigate the characteristics of its chemical composition directly affected by the local emissions of Jeju City, Jeju Island by using an eight-stage cascade impactor from Dec. 1999 to Aug. 2000. The ambient aerosol concentrations measured at Jeju City were generally very low but the fine particle concentrations were to be higher than the US standard of PM2.5. The majority of sulfate were non sea salt and contained in the fine particles. In the fine particles, the concentrations of Na$\^$+/, K$\^$+/, Mg$\^$2+/, Ca$\^$2+/, Cl$\^$-/ and NO$\sub$3$\^$-/ had a tendency to increase during the springtime rather than the other seasons. However, the springtime sulfate and ammonium concentrations in the fine particles were slightly lower than those during the other seasons. On the other hand, associated with the coarse particles, the concentrations of ionic species except potassium and ammonium were elevated during the springtime. The calcium concentrations in the coarse particles were increased up to 8 times relative to the other seasons.
