Leiomyoma of the trachea is a rare benign tumor. A case of leiomyoma of the thoracic trachea is described in a 46-year-old woman. The patient complained of productive cough, dyspnea and blood-tinged sputum since July 1993. Plain chest radiographs were not helpful, but computed tomography of the chest showed an intraluminal tracheal mass just above the carina. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy revealed a broad based, nodular mass rising from the posterior tracheal wall, just above the carina. The tumor was excised by sleeve resection and end-to-end anastomosis of the trachea was performed. The patient`s postoperative course was uneventful. She was discharged on the 20th postoperative day.

Bronchogenic carcinoma involving the carina has remained a challenging problem for thoracic surgeons. Carinal resection and reconstruction is limitedly indicated because this aggressive surgical approach has been reported to be associated with significant morbidity and mortality while long-term outcome has not been determined. Wesuccessfully performed carinal reconstruction and sleeve right upper lobectomy assisted with ECMO for a 60-year-old male with squamous cell carcinoma in the right upper lobe extending to the carina.

Endobronchial inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is a rare primary lung disease. A 39-year-old woman with dyspnea and a productive cough underwent complete surgical resection of a small-sized inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor that invaded the left main bronchus and the carina with lung-saving modified left one-stoma-type carinoplasty. We report this case with a review of literature.

Leiomyoma of the trachea is extremely rare but important to recognize early because they are curable. A case of leiomyoma of the trachea is described in 340-year-Old woman. She was admitted for dyspnea, coughing and sputum for 3 years. Under the impression of asthma she was treated but not improved. Chest CT showed an intraluminal tracheal mass just above the carina. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy revealed a round intraluminal mass on the membranous portion of trachea 4cm above the carina. The tumor was excised by wedge resection and end-to-end anastomosis of the trachea was performed. The pathologic examination revealed leiomyoma of the trachea. We report a case of leiomyoma of the trachea which was successfully resected.

We studied a cluster family in the northern part of the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) a group of clusters near NGC 3324 (Tr 15, NGC 3293, Loden 165, Loden 153 and IC 2581). We used data from UCAC4 to determine the cluster's membership and the near infrared CMDs of each cluster. We analyzed the spatial density and elongation as a function of radius for each cluster and found a possible interaction between NGC 3293 and Loden153. However, the shape distortion of NGC 3324 cannot be evaluated because of the inhomogenity in the coverage of UCAC4 in the east part of NGC 3324.

The esophageal atresia with tracheoesophageal fistula occurs approximately once in 3, 000 live births. In Korea, about 20 cases were reported with five successful surgical corrections. The atresia characteristically occurs at the level of, or just cephalad to, the carina and is associated with a tracheoesophageal fistula. In about 90% of the cases, the upper esophagus ends in a blind pouch, and the lower esophageal segment communicates with the trachea through the membranous posterior wall just above the carina. Many of the Infants with esophageal atresia have other congenital anomalies. The most common of these are congenital cardiac anomalies, imperforate anus, genitourinary malformations, and intestinal atresia. Recently we experienced four cases of esophageal atresia, of which three were Gross type C and one was type A. Two of them were treated by primary repair, and one [type A] was taken cervical esophagostomy and gastrostomy. The another was refused surgery.

We present a kinematic study of the two young OB associations Cygnus OB2 and Carina OB1 using the recently released Gaia astrometric data. The unimodal distributions of parallaxes of stars indicate that these associations are real stellar systems, rather than line-of-sight coincidences. The associations are found to comprise dense star clusters and a sparse halo which have different proper motions. Clusters have small spatial sizes with small dispersions in proper motion, while the haloes extending to tens of parsecs have a large dispersion in proper motion. We speculate that this aspect is related to that found in molecular clouds, the so-called "line width-size" relation. In this talk, the formation process of these associations is discussed, based on our findings.

We list up the Paα-emitting sources observed in the Carina Region (l = 276°-296°) using the MIRIS Paα Galactic Plane Survey data. A total of 201 sources are cataloged. Out of them, 118 sources are coincident with those in the WISE H II region catalog. 52 H II region candidates are newly confirmed as definite H II regions by detecting the Paα recombination lines. For the remaining 83 sources, we search the corresponding objects in the SIMBAD database. 26 point-like sources are associated with planetary nebulae or emission-line stars (such as Wolf-Rayet and Blue supergiant stars). Also, we carry out aperture photometry to measure Paα fluxes for the sources that show circular features without overlapping with other bright sources. For the whole Galactic Plane, the complete Paα-emitting source catalog is in progress.
