  • An Ethnographic Decision Model (EDM) to explore socioeconomic, cultural, and psychological factors related to the attitudes toward childless family was developed in this study. From college students' protocol writings, this research found that the participants in general had conservative views about childless families. They tended to simplify childless families as either infertile couples or DINK (Double Income No Kids) couples. The participants explained why they decided to have or not to have children in the future. They seemed to believe in a traditional family structure and idealize parental roles, while recognizing the high economic and psychological cost of rearing children. They claimed that Korean society set high standards for parents, which were too difficult to reach. The participants, having been educated to believe in self-actualization through their successful careers, struggled to choose between a family with children and one without children. This study was conducted with a holistic view, and highlighted the importance of interactions between traditional ideology about the family and socioeconomic contexts when interpreting college students' perspectives on childless family.

The data used for this research are the curricula of departments which offer housing courses within home economics units in Korea, Japan, and U.S.A: Based on the results of analysis, a field of housing studies is divided into four different areas : a housing-planning, socio-cultural aspects of housing, interior design, and general housing, research, and internships. A model curriculum is proposed based on the four different area of housing studies. The housing programs in Japan and U.S.A. are designed to prepare students for professional careers. In Korea, there is a strong demand for planning, designing, and managing housing and interior design to satisfy social needs. Therefore, our curriculum should be revised to expand graduates' job opportunities.

  • The 21st century belongs to biotechnology as it made profound impact in the field of health, food, agriculture and environmental protection. India's biotechnology industry is poised to record substantial growth, perhaps even overtake the robust IT industry. The objectives of the study are to determine the existing HR practices in Biotech Industry and to understand the need for the up gradation in existing HR Policies. Conclusive and descriptive research design has been used. Data is collected from 122 employees in 23 companies of Biotech Industry. It was found that Biotechnology companies require managers with unique qualities. The lack of solid managerial training and the associated risk of failure often have long-term consequences for the careers of research professionals. The efforts to achieve excellence through a focus on learning, quality, teamwork, and reengineering are driven by the way organizations get things done and how they treat people. Biotech industry is trying to establish itself in India for last one decade but is not showing any phenomenal growth because they still do not valuing their human resource as much they should be.

  • There has been an increase in the number of female doctors worldwide. Women now represent half of all medical students, with almost the same numbers of men and women becoming physicians. There is a pool of talented women in our midst, and it is our responsibility as leaders to find those individuals and groom them for progress. However, residency training and academic education still resemble the historical model when there were few women in medicine. Gender differences in medical specialty choices can cause a maldistribution of doctors by specialty and geographical area, which could cause significant problems at the national health care system level. Major challenges facing female physicians include gender discrimination and sexual harassment, and work/family conflicts. Women are largely under-represented in academic medicine and experience discrimination in the academic environments. Recent issues about related to the "feminization of medicine" raise important questions forabout how academic medicine deals with gender issues. To better accommodate the needs of female doctors and ensure that they will have successful careers, structural and cultural changes to medical educations are needed.

  • With the recent advances in information and communication technology, online management of students' learning data has become the norm. Research on learning analysis that predicts the near future (in a few years) of students' careers using machine learning methods and state transition models has been widely conducted. It is important for educators to evaluate the comprehension stability of students to prevent a decrease in their comprehension rate and dropouts in the class. In this study, we measured the comprehension process of university students in different types of lectures. Herein, we report on the results of data analysis using time series and data statistics, and consider several educational approaches.

  • As migrants develop businesses abroad, entrepreneurship needs specific strategies due to some barriers when establishing and doing businesses. This paper examines the kinds of problems that have been faced in Indonesian migrant entrepreneurships in Taiwan and how the entrepreneurs cope with the difficulties. They use structural and cultural strategies for survival, seize the opportunities for self-development, and develop future careers. Research result shows that the limitations of Indonesian entrepreneurships in Taiwan are related to institutional issues, migrant status, business regulations, resource-providing institutions, language barriers, competition among migrants and locals, and capital. Hence, migrant entrepreneurs must conduct strategic actions to continue their businesses by developing innovations to grow and survive. Some measures include changing from offline to online marketing especially when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, product diversification using migrants and local people's assistance and networks, and setting competitive prices. This paper is based on qualitative research. The data were obtained through interviews in East Java-Indonesia and in Taiwan in 2022. The data were analysed using the descriptive analysis with sociological perspectives.

  • In many countries, secondary school science is no longer solely for those destined for careers in science, medicine or engineering and both boys and girls study biology, chemistry and physics. In Japan, secondary science has been studied by boys and girls as a compulsory subject since the establishment of the modem school system in the late 19th Century. However, although 'science for all' is becoming the norm, it appears that science is less popular with girls than it is with boys, and that lower-attaining students are not adequately catered for in Japan and elsewhere. In this paper, the author investigates gender issues in the secondary science curriculum and examines the curriculum for future scientists using a historical perspective and focusing on the case of Japan. An analysis of two historical issues, gender and the curriculum for future scientists, found that, firstly, the science curriculum needs to contain a clear statement of its aims, and, secondly, that the secondary science teacher is one of the most important factors influencing science teaching particularly for girls. ost important factors influencing science teaching especially for girls.

  • This study aimed to identify target lexical bundles (e.g., on the other hand, at the same time) for argumentative essay writing and rank them in order of teaching priority for Japanese learners. Despite significant functional roles of lexical bundles in academic writing, the inclusion of lexical bundles in argumentative writing had been underexplored. Since argumentative writing skills help undergraduate students prepare for their academic careers (e.g., writing papers), the lexical bundles under this genre deserve more attention. This study first extracted 78 target bundles from L1 argumentative essay corpora (International Corpus Network of Asian Learners of English: ICNALE and Louvain Corpus of Native English Essays: LOCNESS). The study then classified the bundles according to their discourse functions and semantic transparency to estimate the learnability for Japanese learners in L2 compatible corpora with the ICNALE. The results showed that learners had difficulty using the bundles with referential functions (e.g., in the form of) and semantic opaqueness (e.g., when it comes to), suggesting that the bundles in these two categories should be prioritized among the 78 bundles.
