AlCrN, DLC 및 다이아몬드 코팅 엔드밀을 이용한 탄소섬유복합소재의 측면 밀링에 관한 비교 연구 (Comparison Study on Side Milling of CFRP with AlCrN-based, Diamond-Like-Carbon(DLC), and Diamond-Coated End Mill)

  • Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is a composite material useful in the aerospace and automotive industries because of its light weight and high strength. In this study, side milling tests were carried out using AlCrN, diamond-like carbon (DLC), and diamond-coated end mills. Additionally, a comparison study according to the cobalt content was conducted. Thus, tool wear and surface quality were examined and the influences of using coating and a certain material type were analyzed. The surface roughness of the machined surface was measured. Microscope observations revealed that the CFRP fiber at the machined surface was not damaged even at a cutting distance of 3,000 mm. Therefore, this study showed that the diamond-coated end mill containing 6% cobalt is appropriate for milling CFRP.

탄소섬유시트를 이용한 I형 PFRP 부재의 휨보강 효과 (The Flexural Strengthening Effect of I-Shape PFRP Member Using Carbon Fiber Sheet)

  • In recent years, fiber reinforced polymer plastic composites are readily available in the construction industry. Fiber reinforced polymer composite has many advantages such as high specific strength and high specific stiffness, high corrosion resistance, light-weight, magnetic transparency, etc. In this paper, we present the result of investigation pertaining to the flexural behavior of flange strengthened I-shape pultruded fiber reinforced polymer plastic (PFRP) member using carbon fiber sheet (CFRP sheet). Test variable is consisted of the number of layers of strengthening CFRP sheet from 0 to 3. From the experimental results, flexural strengthening effect of flange strengthened I-shape PFRP member using CFRP sheet is evaluated and it was found that 2 layers of strengthening CFRP sheet are appropriate considering efficiency and workability.

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 철근콘크리트건물 보-기둥 접합부의 내진 성능을 개선하기 위하여 탄소섬유를 사용하여 구조물을 보강한 후 실험을 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 6개의 철근콘크리트 보-기둥 접합부를 제작하였으며, 지진하중과 같은 반복하중이 작용할 때 보강재료 및 보강영역 등을 변수로 하여 실험을 수행하여 각 보강변수에 따른 보강효과를 평가하였다. 본 실험을 통하여 구조물의 내진 성능 및 연성능력을 증진시킬 목적으로 새로운 보강재료(탄소섬유판, 탄소섬유봉, 탄소섬유쉬트)로 설계된 보강 실험체(RPC-CP2, RPC-CR, RJC-CP, RJC-CR)들은 내력증진은 물론이고 안정적인 이력거동을 확보할 수 있었다.

탄소섬유 드레이핑 및 수지 유동 해석을 통한 CFRP 제조용 RTM 금형 설계 (Design of RTM molds for CFRP by carbon fiber draping and resin flow simulation)

  • This paper presents the design strategy for the optimal RTM molds of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) by carbon fiber draping and resin flow simulation. First, the mold shape and molding condition were determined considering the undercut and die face of the product in the draping simulation, which made the preliminary shape of the product by compressing the carbon fiber. After that, the diffusion behavior during the injection of resin in the mold was predicted by the resin flow simulation. Finally, the optimal mold shape was designed by selecting the locations of resin injection port and vent based on total results of simulations. In this paper, the mold of automotive side mirror case was selected as the representative product. Also, the actual mold was manufactured based on the simulation design to confirm the practicality of it. This study is expected to contribute to the industry as a technology to improve the reliability and productivity of CFRP producted by RTM process.

  • 현대 산업에서 복합재료를 폭넓게 사용하고 있다. 특히 섬유를 기반으로 하여 레진으로 경화시킨 섬유 강화 플라스틱의 재료는 우수하면서도 비강도, 비강성이 뛰어난 경량화 소재로 주목받고 있다. 이 중에서도 탄소섬유를 이용한 탄소섬유강화 플라스틱은 다른 섬유와 달리 뛰어난 기계적 특성을 지녀 차량과 항공기 등 고강도와 경량성을 동시에 필요로 하는 곳에 쓰이고 있다. 본 논문에서는 탄소섬유강화 플라스틱으로 구성된 CT시험편으로 섬유 설계에 따른 인장특성을 해석적 연구를 통해 규명한다. 구멍을 가진 CFRP복합재료의 응력해석에 있어서, 인장환경에서의 파괴경향을 파악한다. 또한 적층각도에 따른 결과를 통하여 해석결과 값에 있어 적층각도 60°로 구성된 해석모델에서 가장 낮은 응력값이 발생함과 사전크랙의 변형에너지 가장 낮음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 실제 실험으로 적용된 구조물에서의 파괴형상을 예측하기 위한 기반데이터를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

다관절 복합이동 해저로봇을 위한 탄소섬유 복합소재 프레임의 구조 해석 (Finite Element Analysis of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Frame for Multi-legged Subsea Robot)

  • This paper describes a finite element analysis (FEA) of the body frame of a subsea robot, Crabster200 (CR200). CR200 has six legs for mobility instead of screw type propellers, which distinguishes it from previous underwater robots such as remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Another distinguishing characteristic is the body frame, which is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). This body frame is designed as a rib cage structure in order to disperse the applied external loads and reduce the weight. The frame should be strong enough to support many devices for exploration and operation underwater. For a reasonable FEA, we carried out specimen tests. Using the obtained material properties, we performed a modal analysis and FEA for CR200 with a ready posture. Finally, this paper presents the FEA results for the CFRP body frame and the compares the characteristics of CFRP with conventional material, aluminum.

유리탄소섬유 하이브리드 복합재의 절삭 조건에 따른 가공 결함 비교 (Comparison of Machining Defects by Cutting Condition in Hybird FRP Drilling)

  • Delamination and burr defects are important problems in drilling fiber reinforced plastics. A method for measuring FRP drilling defects has been studied. Delamination and burr factors were defined as the relative length or area. Using these factors, the effects of tool shape and drilling conditions on delamination and burr were studied. In this study, the defects that occur when drilling a glass-carbon fiber hybrid composite were compared in terms of three factors. In the glass-carbon fiber hybrid composite, the effects of the feed rate and tool point angle on the delamination and burr factors were similar to those in previous studies. The diameter of the tool did not affect the defect factor. A circular burr was generated in a drill tool with a point angle of 184°, and a relatively small deburring factor was observed compared with a tool with a point angle of 140°.

흡습된 CFRP의 AE에 의한 파과거동과 신뢰성 평가 (Fracture behavior using AE method and reliability assessment of CFRP based on absorbed moisture)

  • Recently carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) has been used structural materials in corrosive environment such as for water, chemical tank and pipes. However, mechanical properties of such materials may be change when CFRP and exposed to corrosive environment for long periods of time. The degradation behavior of carbon fiber/epoxy resin composite material in distilled water is investigated using acoustic emission (AE) technique, Fracture toughness tests are performed on the compact tension specimens that are pilled by two types of $[O_2/9O_2]_{3s}$ and $[O/9O]_6s$. During the testes, AE test was carried out to monitor the damage of CFRP by moisture absorption. The data was treated by 2-parameter Weibull distribution and the fracture surface was observed by scanning electron microscope.

표면개질에 따른 탄소섬유복합재의 마찰마모 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Friction and Wear Characteristics of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics by Surface Modification)

  • The objective of the present study was to investigate the characteristics of the friction and wear according to the amount of ion-irradiation for the carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP). Unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced composites were fabricated with epoxy resin as a matrix and carbon fiber as a reinforcement, and its surface was modified by the ion-assisted reaction. When the amount of ion-irradiation was $1{\times}10^{16}$ ions/$cm^2$, the friction coefficients of composites were about 0.1 and the wear mode was stable, whereas, the friction coefficient of non-treatment composites were about 0.16 and the wear mode was very unstable. But if the amount of ion-irradiation was $5{\times}10^{16}$ ions/$cm^2$, the friction coefficients were higher rather than that of $1{\times}10^{16}$ ions/$cm^2$. Consequently, the amount of ion-irradiation was not in proportion to the friction coefficients, and it was conformed that the optimal conditions would exist between broth of them.
