카본섬유 복합재 라미네이트를 적용한 레저용 소형 전기차량의 후륜 업라이트의 구조강도 해석 (Strength Analysis of Rear Upright Laminated with Carbon Fiber Composite for Leisure Purposed Small Electric Car)

  • Carbon fiber composite laminate has been widely used in the area of sports applications such as race car, golf club, fishing rods, yacht. In this study, carbon fiber composite laminate was used in the rear upright of leisure purposed small size single-seat electric race car to reduce its unsprung mass of suspension system. The focus of this research is to investigate in finding optimal stacking lay-up of rear upright laminated with carbon fiber composite in the early design phase. Forces transferred from circuit road to rear upright were estimated through MBD(Multi-Body Dynamics)model of the rear suspension geometry. To evaluate the strength of the rear upright laminated with carbon fiber composite which generally behaves in an anisotropic or orthotropic manner, FEA(Finite Element Analysis) model suitable for composite materials was built followed by its strength was evaluated depending on different stacking lay-up. The result showed that Symmetric stacking lay-up [$45^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/0^{\circ}$]s for frontal area and symmetric stacking lay-up with 1mm aluminum core [$45^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/Core$]s for rear area were most suitable of 16 lay-up cases from the side of both strength based on Tasi-wu failure index and weight.

온도 및 수분이 탄소/아라미드 섬유 복합재의 파손거동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Temperature and Water Absorption on Failure Behaviors of Carbon / Aramid Fiber Composites)

  • This paper presents the effects of high temperature and water absorption on the mechanical behaviors of carbon-aramid fiber composites, specifically their strength, elastic modulus, and fracture. These composites are used in industrial structures because of their high specific strength and toughness. Carbon fiber composites are vulnerable to the impact force of external objects despite their excellent properties. Aramid fibers have high elongation and impact absorption capabilities. Accordingly, a hybrid composite with the complementary properties and capabilities of carbon and aramid fibers is fabricated. However, the exposure of aramid fiber to water or heat typically deteriorates its mechanical properties. In view of this, tensile and flexural tests were conducted on a twill woven carbon-aramid fiber hybrid composite to investigate the effects of high temperature and water absorption. Moreover, a multiscale analysis of the stress behavior of the composite's microstructure was implemented. The results show that the elastic modulus of composites subjected to high temperature and water absorption treatments decreased by approximately 22% and 34%, respectively, compared with that of the composite under normal conditions. The crack behavior of the composites was well identified under the specimen conditions.

GFS-CFXB 내진보강법을 이용한 지진피해를 받은 R/C 건물의 내진성능 평가 및 내진보강 효과 (Seismic Strengthening and Performance Evaluation of Damaged R/C Buildings Strengthened with Glass Fiber Sheet and Carbon Fiber X-Brace System)

  • 기존 강재 브레이싱 내진보강법은 정착부의 안정성 문제와 브레이싱의 국부좌굴이 발생할 문제가 있으며, 이를 방지하기 위한 추가보강으로 인해 불필요한 자중증가 등으로 경제적인 내진보강성능 확보에 어려움이 있다. 이 연구에서는 지진피해를 받은 건물에 지진피해로 인한 기존 기둥의 연성확보를 위해서 유리섬유시트(glass fiber sheet)로 래핑을 함과 동시에 기존 철골 X-브레이싱 내진보강법에 비교해서 경량의 고강도 재료로 보강 후 추가적인 중량증가가 거의 없으며, 브레이싱 압축 좌굴거동에 자유로운 탄소섬유 앵커 X-브레이싱공법(carbon fiber X-brace)을 조합한 경제적이며 효과적인 새로운 내진보강법(GFS-CFXB)을 제안하였다. 이 연구에서 제안한 GFS-CFXB공법의 유용성을 검증할 목적으로 지진피해를 받은 골조를 대상으로 반복가력에 의한 구조실험을 실시하여 내진성능 및 내진보강 효과를 검증하였다.

탄소섬유 보강 고강도 시멘트 복합체의 기게적 특성에 관한 연구 (Mechanical Properties of High Strength Cement Composite with Carbon Fiber)

  • Two sheets of high strength cement paste using ordinary Portland cement and water soluble polymer (polyacrylamide) were made by kneading with a twin roll mill. A carbon fiber layer out between two sheet of the cement paste, and then carbon fiber reinforced high strength cement composites were prepared by pressing them. The mechanical properties of the composites were investigated through the observation of the microstructure and the application of fracture mechanics. When the carbon fiber was added with 0.2 and 0.3wt% to the composites the flexural strength and Young's modulus were about 110∼116MPa and 74∼77GPa respectively, and critical stress intensity was about 3.14MPam1/2. It can be considered that the strength improvement of high strength cement fiber composites may be due to the removal of macropores and the increase of various fracture toughness effects; grain bridging, frictional interlocking, polymer fibril bridging and fiber bridging.

  • Cure monitoring and nondestructive characteristics of carbon fiber/epoxy composites were evaluated by the measurements of electrical resistance and acoustic emission (AE). Logarithmic electrical resistivity of the untreated single-carbon fiber composite increased suddenly to infinity when the fiber fracture occurred, whereas that of the electrodeposited composite increased relatively broadly up to infinity. As curing temperature increased. logarithmic electrical resistivity of steel fiber increased. On the other hand, electrical resistance of carbon fiber decreased due to the intrinsic electrical properties based on the band theory. The apparent modulus of the electrodeposited composite was higher than that of the untreated composite due to the improved interfacial shear strength (IFSS).

Ablative Characteristics of Carbon/Carbon Composites by Liquid Rocket

  • The Carbon/Carbon composite was prepared from 3D carbon fiber preform and coal tar pitch as matrix precursor. In order to evaluate of ablative characteristics of the composite, liquid rocket system was employed Kerosene and liquid oxygen was used as propellants, operating at a nominal chamber pressure of 330 psi and a nominal mixture ratio (O/F) of 2.0. The results of an experimental evaluation were that high density composite exhibited high, while low density composites showed low erosion resistance. The erosion rate against heat flux was highly depended on the density of the materials. The morphology of eroded fiber showed differently according to collision angle with heat flux on the composite. The granular matrix which derived from carbonization pressure of 900 bar was more resistance to heat flux than well-developed flow type matrix.

  • 최근 전세계적으로 자원 고갈로 인한 에너지 절약과 환경 문제에 관한 규제 강화는 환경 친화적인 소재 개발의 필요성을 가속화시키고 있다. 이러한 추세는 자동차 산업을 포함한 운송 산업도 예외가 아니다. 또한, 기본적으로 단순히 성능이 좋으면서도 값이 저렴한 제품이 아니라, 소비자와 사회의 요구에 부합되는 고기능성 소재의 개발이 필요하다. 이에 부합하는 소재로는 최근 운송 수단의 경량화를 위하여 많은 연구가 진행중인 탄소섬유 복합재료라할 수 있다. 최근 탄소섬유 복합재료는 자동차의 경량화를 위해 차체 및 부품 등 다양한 부분에 적용됨에 따라 그 수요는 크게 증가하고 있고, 차량에 적용시 차체 중량감소에 따른 제동, 조향, 내구 및 연비향상과 이에 따른 에너지 절약 및 이산화탄소 배출을 최소화 하는 장점을 갖는다. 따라서, 본고에서는 자동차의 경량화를 위한 탄소섬유 복합재료의 필요성과 더불어 탄소섬유 복합재료의 기술동향과 나아가야 할 방향에 대하여 살펴보도록 하겠다.

콘크리트구조물의 탄소섬유시트에 의한 구조 보강시 광섬유 센서를 이용한 모니터링기법에 관한 연구 (Study on the Monitoring Method of Concrete Structure Repaired by Carbon Sheets with Optical Fiber Sensors)

  • In order to extend the life time of building and civil infra-structure, nowadays, patch type carbon sheets are widely used as repairing meterials. Repaired concrete columns and beams with carbon sheets gain their stiffness and strength, but they lose toughness and show brittle failure behaviors. Usually, the cracks of concrete structures are visible with naked eyes and the status of the structure in the life cycle is estimated with visible inspection. After repairing of the structure, crack visibility is blocked by repaired carbon sheets. Therefore, structural monitoring after repairing is indispensible and self diagnosis method with optical fiber sensor is very useful. In this paper, peel-out effects is detected with optical fiber sensors and the strain difference between main structure and repaired carbon sheets when they separate each other.

Influence of the Thickness and Doping Concentration in p- and n-Type Poly-Si Layers on the Efficiency of a Solar Cell Based on a Carbon Fiber

  • We investigated the effects of the thickness and doping concentration in p- and n-type poly-Si layers on the performance of a solar cell based on a carbon fiber in order to improve the energy conversion efficiency of the cell. The short-circuit current density and open-circuit voltage of the carbon fiber-based solar cell were significantly influenced by the thickness and doping concentration in the p- and n-type poly-Si layers. The solar cell efficiency was successfully enhanced to ~10.5%.
