마산만의 Tributyltin 거동 및 물질수지 산정 (Estimation of Transport and Mass balance of Tributyltin in Masan Bay)

  • 마산만에 대하여 stella 프로그램을 이용한 Tributyltin모델을 구축하였으며, 민감도 분석 및 물질수지를 산정하여 수질관리의 기초자료로 제공하였다. 민감도 분석결과 수층과 유기 입자내 Tributyltin의 경우는 침강속도와 분배계수에 가장 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났으며, 식물플랑크톤 체내의 Tributyltin의 경우는 식물플랑크톤의 생물농축계수가 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 인자로 나타났다. 따라서 추후의 Tributyltin에 대한 모델 적용 시에는 이들 계수에 대한 정밀한 고찰이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. 대상해역의 Tributyltin 현존량은 수층의 Tributyltin량이 3.29×10⁴g, 플랑크톤 체내의 Tributyltin량이 1.16×10²g, 입자상 유기물내의 Tributyltin량이 3.17×10³g로 나타났다 상간의 전환경로는 입자상 유기물로 분배되는 경로가 1.64×10³g/day로 가장 크게 나타났으며, 다음이 저질로의 침전으로 1.52×10³/g/4ay이었으며 외해로의 유출이 1.32×10³g/4ay로 나타났다.

바이오필터의 휘발성유기화합물 제거특성 및 탄소물질수지를 이용한 생물반응의 양론적 해석 (Removal Characteristics of Volatile Organic Compounds in Biofilters and Stoichiometric Analysis of Biological Reaction by Carbon Mass Balance)

  • 본 연구는 바이오필터의 기질분해특성을 파악하기 위하여 휘발성유기화합물을 대상으로 임계부하량과 기질특성의 상관관계를 분석하였고, 탄소물질수지를 이용한 생물반응의 양론적 해석을 수행하였다. 반응기에 공급된 기질은 단일물질이며, toluene, styrene, MEK, MIBK를 선정하였다. 바이오필터의 기질임계부하량은 toluene은 $46.9\;g/m^3{\cdot}hr$, styrene은 $25.8\;g/m^3{\cdot}hr$, MEK는 $96.3\;g/m^3{\cdot}hr$, MIBK는 $66.5\;g/m^3{\cdot}hr$이었으며, 임계부하량은 옥탄올-물 분배계수(KOW)와 높은 상관관계를 보였다. 또한 기질부하량이 증가할수록 물질수지 중 $CO_2$에 의한 탄소회수율은 낮아졌고, 바이오매스에 의한 탄소회수율은 높아지는 경향을 보였다. 생물양론적 해석을 통하여 추정된 biomass yield (g biomass/g substrate)는 기질부하량이 증가할수록 커졌으며, toluene은 0.31~0.57, styrene은 0.29~0.57, MEK는 0.08~0.56, MIBK는 0.14~0.53의 변화폭을 보였다.

  • Advancements in silicon phase control (SCR) technologies provide an arc welding power supply that has the capability to allow the alteration of the Alternating Current (AC) welding output. These technologies provide a square wave output involving sixteen frequency selections and multiple balance selections. While an AC out put is known to minimize magnetic disturbances associate with Direct Current (DC), the potentials of a non-sinusoidal waveform have not been explored. The focus of the paper is to determine the effects that the frequency and balance of an AC wave form output will have upon a high speed Submerge Arc (SAW) application. The test matrix of the project includes welding .250" steel plate. Joint type is square groove with a travel speed of 65 IPM. Each of the weld parameters was held constant, only the frequency and/or balance were altered between welds. Each frequency/balance combination involved three-gap spacing. Upon completion of the welds the bead profiles were measured and recorded. A relationships/trends were observed with various frequency and balance values. Optimum frequency and balance values were found for the .250" square groove application which permit consistent weld sizing, ease of slag removal, and minimal plate distortion.

한반도 연안에 분포하는 새우말의 탄소수지 계절적 변동 (Seasonal Whole-plant Carbon Balance of Phyllospadix iwatensis on the Coast of the Korean Peninsula)

  • 탄소수지는 다양한 환경조건에서 식물의 생리적 상태를 평가할 수 있는 중요한 지표 중 하나이다. 우리 동해 연안에 분포하는 새우말의 수온 변화(5-30℃)에 따른 광합성률과 호흡률을 측정하여, 전체 식물 탄소수지의 계절적 변동을 추정하였다. 수온 처리에 따라 최대총광합성률은 유의한 차이를 보였지만, 광합성 효율은 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 새우말의 최대총광합성률은 수온이 상승함에 따라 증가하여 20℃에서 최대값(101.65 μmol O2 g-1 DW h-1)을 보인 후 30℃에서 급격히 감소하였다. 수온 변화에 따른 새우말의 포화광도, 보상광도와 호흡률은 모두 유의한 차이를 보였다. 새우말의 포화광도는 20-25℃까지(121.59-124.50 μmol photons m-2 s-1) 증가하다가 30℃에서 급격히 감소하였다. 보상광도와 호흡률은 수온이 증가할수록 점차 증가하였다. 최대총광합성률과 호흡률의 비율은 5℃에서 가장 높았고, 30℃에서 급격히 감소하였다. 광합성 매개변수, 호흡률 및 생체량을 통해서 추정된 새우말 전체 식물의 탄소수지는 겨울과 봄에 증가하고, 여름과 가을에 감소하는 뚜렷한 계절적 경향을 보였으며, 봄에 생장이 가장 활발하고, 수온이 가장 높은 시기에 급격히 감소하는 새우말의 생장 패턴과 일치하였다. 새우말은 늦여름부터 겨울까지 음의 탄소수지를, 봄에서 초여름까지 양의 탄소수지를 보였다. 기후 변화에 의한 지속적인 수온 상승은 우리 동해 연안 암반생태계에 분포하는 잘피생육지의 구조와 기능에 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단된다.

  • Real-time monitoring for environmental factors (temperature, salinity, chlorophyll-a, etc.) and fugacity of carbon dioxide ($fCO_2$) was conducted at an oyster Crassostrea gigas farm in Goseong Bay, south coast of Korea during 2-4th of November, 2011. Surface temperature and salinity were ranged from $17.9-18.7^{\circ}C$ and 32.7-33.8, respectively, with daily and inter-daily variations due to tidal currents. Surface $fCO_2$ showed a range of $390-510{\mu}atm$ and was higher than air $CO_2$ during the study period. Surface temperature, salinity and $fCO_2$ are showed significant correlations with chl.-a and nutrients, respectively. It means when chl.-a value is high in surface water of the oyster farm, active biological production consume $CO_2$ and nutrients from environments and produce oxygen, suggesting a tight feedback between biological processes and environmental reaction. Thus, factors affecting the surface $fCO_2$ were evaluated using a simple mass balance. Temperature and biological productions by phytoplankton are the main factors for $CO_2$ drawdown from afternoon to early night, while biological respiration increases seawater $CO_2$ at night. Air-sea exchange fraction acts as a $CO_2$ decreasing gear during the study period and is much effective when the wind speed is higher than $2-3m\;s^{-1}$. Future studies about organic carbon and biological production/respiration are required for evaluating the roles of oyster farms on carbon sink and coastal carbon cycle.

어류가두리 양식장의 물질수지 산정 (Mass Balance of Finfish Cage Farm in South Korea)

  • This study was conducted to better understand the impact of marine fish farming by estimating mass balances of carbon and nitrogen. According to the results, 94.55% of carbon and 95.66% of nitrogen inputs were from the feed supplied in the farm. Of the total carbon emissions in the farm, 47.28% was due to fish respiration, which was subsequently released into seawater. Advection and diffusion in the farm contributed to 30.29% of the carbon released. In the case of nitrogen, 50.70% of the nitrogen released into the seawater was produced by fish excreta, and 31.37% was advected and diffused into the system. The sedimentary environment received 3.82% and 3.10% of the carbon and nitrogen released from the farm, respectively. The fish feed used for healthy growth contained 11.64% carbon and 9.17% nitrogen. Since the feed type was floating pellets, the load released into the sedimentary environment was relatively lower than that released into the marine environment. These findings suggest that the identification of an optimal fish feed that respects fish physiology and preserves a healthy ecology is critical for the future of aquaculture. Furthermore, ecosystem-based aquaculture systems that decrease environmental burden, while endeavoring to improve environmental health, are required.

  • The water-based ink has lately attracted considerable attention because of problems of energy and population. Carbon blacks have been widely utilized in water-based systems to provide pigmentation. One of the most important factors in the successful formulation of an aqueous system containing carbon black is the dispersion and the selection and proper utilization of the dispersing agent. This is similar to water-based ink. This paper discusses dispersion of carbon black with the factors affecting the dispersing agent requirement (DAR) and describes a laboratory method for determining it. Variables that affect the dispersion, such as structure, surface area, and oxidation level of the carbon black are examined through test data. Anionic and nonionic dispersing agents are evaluated using the DAR method. From this study, the increased surface area, the increased DAR is indicated. DAR is indicated to depend on HLB(Hydrophilic Lipophilic Balance) of dispersing agent and pH of dispersing system.

  • Emphasis has been placed on thin plate fabrication of plain woven carbon fabric reinforced Al matrix composites using liquid pressing process. The composite has potential applications for PDP rear plate. The process is to use the low pressure for infiltration of Al melt into plain woven carbon fabric as the Al melt is pressurized directly. The minimum pressure required for the infiltration was calculated from force balance equation, permeability measurements and compaction behavior of carbon fiber. Also, the melting temperature and the holding time have been optimized. In order to measure coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the composites, the thermal strain measurement using strain gage was performed and the thermal conductivity of the composites was measured using laser flash method. The constituent materials of the composite are PAN type carbon fibers as reinforcements and 6061 Al alloys as matrices.

Carbon Storage in an Age-Sequence of Temperate Quercus mongolica Stands in Central Korea

  • This study was conducted to estimate carbon storage in Quercus mongolica stands based on stand age class, and to provide basic data on the carbon balance of broad-leaved forests of Korea. The research was conducted at the experimental forest of Kangwon National University, Hongcheon-gun County, Gangwon-do Province, Korea. Three plots were set up in each of three Q. mongolica forest stands (III, V, and VII) to estimate the amount of carbon stored in Q. mongolica aboveground vegetation, coarse woody debris (CWD), organic layer, mineral soil, and litterfall. The carbon storage of the aboveground vegetation increased with an increase in stand age, while the carbon storage ratio of stems decreased. The carbon storage of the organic layer, CWD, and litterfall did not show any significant differences among age classes. In addition, the carbon concentration and storage in the forest soils decreased with depth, and there were no differences among age classes for any soil horizon. Finally, the total carbon storage in the III, V, and VII stands of Q. mongolica were 132.2, 241.1, and $374.4Mg\;C\;ha^{-1}$, respectively. In order to predict and effectively manage forest carbon dynamics in Korea, further study on deciduous forests with other tree species in different regions will be needed.

  • 1996년 7월 하순부터 9월 하순에 걸쳐 동경농공대학 농학부 부속부중농장(동경도 부중시)의 대두(Glycine max)개체군을 대상으로 미기상학적 플럭스측정방법의 하나인 열수지법을 이용하여 CO₂ 플럭스와 O₃ 플럭스를 측정하였다. CO₂ 플럭스와 O₃ 플럭스는 엽면적지수(LAI)의 변화에 영향을 받았으며, LAI가 2.0이상일 경우 CO₂ 플럭스는 광합성유효발사량(PAR)과 정비례관계가 있었다. O₃ 플럭스는 측정 기간 중 항상 양의 수치를 나타냈으며, 평균치는 0.5 mol m/sup -2/S/sup -1/이었다. 또한 CO₂와 O₃ 침착속도사이에는 정비례관계가 있었다 (LAI>2.0).
