송이에 서식(棲息)하는 절지동물상(節肢動物相) (The Arthropod Fauna Inhabited in Pine Mushroom)

  • 송이에 서식(棲息)하는 절지동물(節肢動物)을 채집 분류하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 송이에 서식(棲息)하는 곤충(昆虫)은 총(總) 7목(目) 19과(科)였다. 또한 곤충(昆虫) 이외(以外)에 거미목(目), 응애목(目), 선충목(目), 병안목(目) 등의 동물(動物)도 함께 서식(棲息)하였다. 2. 송이를 가장 크게 가해(加害)하는 것은 Gyroþhaena niponensis, 방아벌레과(科)(Elateridae)의 일종, 초파리과(科)(Drosophilidae) 일종의 곤충(昆虫)과 만달팽이과(科)(Philomycidae) 일종의 동물(動物)이었다. 3. 우점종은 반날개과(科)의 Gyroþhaena niponensis였다. 4. 천적(天敵)으로 유력시 되는 Oxyρorus germanus, 줄침노린재(Sþhedanolestes impressioollis), 벼룩파리과(Phoridae), 딱정벌레과(科)(Carabidae)의 Pristodactyla crocata, 금좀벌과(科)(Pteromalidae)의 일종, 좀벌과(科)(Eulophidae)의 Terastichus hagenowi 등의 곤충(昆虫)과 거미목(目)(Araneina)의 Achaearanea tepidariorum, Micrommata virescens 등의 동물(動物)이 서식(棲息)하고 있었다.

Community structure and distribution of ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in Sobaeksan National Park, Korea

  • The ground beetles collected during the investigation period were nine subfamilies, 24 genera, 51 species, and 3504 ground beetles. Species richness was high in Pterostichinae has 24 species (47%), Harpalinae nine species (17.6%), Carabinae six species (11.8%), and Lebiinae three species (5.9%). Overall dominant species was Synuchus agonus, and dominance index was 0.361. Synuchus agonus was investigated as the dominant species in both Namcheon Valley and Geumseon Valley. Regarding subdominant species, it was Synuchus nitidus (52 individuals, 12.6%) and Synuchus cycloderus (52 individuals, 12.6%) in the order in Namcheon Valley, and it was Pterostichus orientalis orientalis (660 individuals, 21.3%) and Pterostichus audax (378 individuals, 12.2%) in the order in Geumseon Valley. Total species diversity index of ground beetles in Sobaeksan National Park was 2.917. By area, the number of collected ground beetles was smaller in Namcheon Valley than in Geumseon Valley. Sobaeksan National Park is located at the boundary of northern and southern parts in Korea and is a very important place in terms of geography and climate. Sobaeksan has been designated as a national park, and its ecosystem is relatively preserved well. If continuous investigation of basic data for ground beetles is conducted through long-term monitoring, the data can be used as key data to research mutual relationship with organisms, effects by climate change, and ecosystem change depending on human activities.

갑장산의 보행성 딱정벌레류 분포에 관한 연구 (Distribution of Ground-beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in Mt. Gabjangsan, Korea)

  • 2004년 8월부터 10월까지 경북 상주의 갑장산에서 고도별에 따른 지표서식 딱정벌레의 군집을 조사하였다. 전 조사지에서 4과 15종 1,439개체의 지표서식 딱정벌레가 채집되었다. 월별 다양성은 9월에 12종 697개에가 채집이 되어 가장 높았으며, 8월에 8종 102개체, 10월에 5종 640개체가 채집이 되었다. 해발 800m 지역은 다양도지수와 균등도지수가 가장 낮게 나타났으며 풍부도지수는 가장 높게 나타났다. 풍부도지수는 해발 400m 지역에서 가장 높게 나타났으며 균등도지수는 해발300m 지역에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 붉은칠납작먼지벌레(Synuchus cycloderus)는 해발 300-800m 지역에서 우점종이었으며 윤납작먼지벌레(Synuchus nitidus)는 해발 200m 지역에서 우점종이었다. 본 조사 결과를 바탕으로 산림지역 내에 건설 된 골프장에서는 붉은칠납작먼지벌레와 윤납작먼지벌레를 환경 지표종으로 이용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

연엽산 일대 딱정벌레목의 군집구조 및 계절적 변동에 관한 연구 (Study on Community Structure and Seasonal Variations of Coleoptera in Mt. Yeonyeop area, Korea)

  • 강원대학교 학술림내 연엽산 일대의 딱정벌레목 군집에 관한 연구를 위하여 2004년 4월부터 9월까지 총 6회의 조사를 실시하였다. 연엽산 일대에 4개의 지점을 정하여 light trap, pitfall trap, 그리고 sweeping의 3가지 방법으로 조사한 결과 총 48과 358종 3053개체가 출현하였다. 가장 많은 종이 출현한 과는 Carabidae로 50종이 출현하였고, 다음으로 Chrysomelida 가 40종 그리고 Curculionidae가 40종의 순으로 나타났다. 지점별로는 고도가 낮고 하천이 있는 지점 4에서 가장 많은 종이 출현하였고, pitfall trap에 많은 개체수가 채집된 지점 2에서 가장 많은 개체수가 출현하였다. 월별로는 7월에 가장 많은 종수와 개체수가 출현하였다. 우점종은 Nicro-phorus (Nicrophorus) quadripunctatus (13.00%), 아우점종은 Synuchus (Synuchus) cycloderus (7.17%)이었다. 특히 환경부 보호종인 Damaster mirabilissimus mirabilissimus가 5월에 1개체 출현하였다.

Geographic Genetic Contour of a Ground Beetle, Scarites aterrimus (Coleoptera: Carabidae) on the Basis of Mitochondrial DNA Sequence

  • The Scarites aterrimus (Coleoptera: Carabidae), is one of the carabid beetles dwelling exclusively on coastal sandy dunes. Habitat deterioration and equivalent activity have greatly concerned population declines in several species dwelling on the coastal sandy dunes. As a first step to establish long-term conservation strategy, we investigated the nation-wide magnitude and nature of genetic diversity of the species. As a first step, we sequenced a portion of mitochondrial COI gene, corresponding to "DNA Barcode" region (658 bp) from a total of 24 S. aterrimus individuals collected over nine sandy dunes belonging to four Korean provinces. The sequence analysis evidenced moderate to low magnitude of sequence diversity compared with other insect species distributed in Korean peninsula (0.152% to 0.912%). The presence of closely related haplotypes and relatively high gene flow estimate collectively suggest that there had been no historical barriers that bolster genetic subdivision. Population decline was postulated on the basis of several missing haplotypes that are well found in the species with a large population size. This interpretation is consistent with field observation of small population size in the coastal sandy dune habitats. The highest genetic diversity estimates were found in the coastal sand dune population of Seogwipo, Jeju Island, justifying a prior attention to the population, in order to sustain overall genetic diversity of the species. Further scrutinized study might be required for further robust conclusion.

Interesting Species of the Laboulbeniales from Upo Swamp

  • Eight species belonging to two genera of the Laboulbeniales, parasitic on the family Carabidae and Staphylinidae of the order Coleoptera, were collected from Upo natural swamp in 1996-2001. They are as follows; Laboulbenia anoplogenii parasitic on Platynus daimio, L. cristata on Paederus parallelus, L. egens on Tachys laetifica, L. flagellata on Platynus daimio, L. pedicellata on Bembidion morawitzi, L. philonthi on Philonthus wuesthoffi, L. stenolophi on Acupalpus inornatus and Philonthus longicornis, and Peyritschiella biformis on Philonthus micaticollis. Among these species, the genus Platynus as the host of L. anoplogenii and the genus Acupalpus as the host of L. stenolophi are new to science. Bembidion morawitzi as the host of Laboulbenia pedicellata and Philonthus micanticollis as the host of Peyritschiella biformis are new to Korea.

A Ground-Beetle, Chlaenius hamifer Chaudoir, New to Korea (Coleoptera: Carabidae)

  • Chlaenius is a large and diverse genus of ground beetle. This colorful beetle recognized from its pubescent elytra and pungent defensive secretions. Subgenus Pachydinodes belonging to the genus Chlaenius were reported eight species from Palaearctic, among them four species, Chlaenius (Pachydinodes) abstersus Bates, C. (P.) pictus Chaudoir, C. (P.) tetragonoderus Chaudoir, C. (P.) virgulifer Chaudoir were reported in Korea up to now. In here, Chlaenius hamifer Chaudoir are report firstly in Korea. Description and photo of adult and aedeagus are provided.

  • Sensilla on the aedeagi of 4 species under the genus Damaster were studied using scanning electron microscopy. A total of 37 types of sensilla were distinguished from the aedeagi of the species examined. The number of sensilla types was the largest in D. (Coptolabrus) smaragdinus branickii, 25, and 23 in D. (C.) jankowskii jankowskii. In D. (Acoptolabrus) gehinii gehinii and D. (Damaster) blaptoides blaptoides, 22 and 21 types of sensilla were found, respectively. External morphology and distribution patterns of sensilla were also described. The phylogenetic relationships among the species were discussed based on their distribution patterns.
