Vibration Characteristics of Automobile Suspension System considering Tire Design Parameters (타이어 설계인자를 고려한 자동차 현가계의 진동특성)

  • The model is verified thorough simulations and experiments. And then the developed model is applied to a half car model and automobile vibrations are analyzed. The effects of tire design parameters on the automobile vibration energy are investigated. The results from laboratory and field tests confirm the validity of the analytical model. The 17-DOF half-car model is built to analyze the automobile vibration. The characteristics of the nonlinear model for a shock absorber are applied to this model. The results from the present 17-DOF half car model incorporating the analytical tire model with tire design parameters, are compared with a 5-DOF half car model where the tire is modeled with linear springs. The results of the 17-DOF model are closed to experimental results. Using the 17-DOF model, the influences of tire design parameter are considered. According to the results of analyses, the vibrations at seat/body/wheel are predicted by simulation and experiment.

  • It is mainly due to the toxic gases, produced from the material combustion, threatens human body in case of urban railway car like subway which passes through underground tunnel. In the field of railway industry, fire accidents was not frequent but occurs in each country and, the causes was investigated. The advanced country established the test standard (e.g., BS, EN) to measure the toxic gases quantitatively and, have applied to enhance the fire safety of railway car. We must also follow the procedures to use gangway material for railway car as stated the Safety regulation for the urban railway car. In this study, various gangway materials(silicon, synthtic rubber, soaltapulin) are used to investigate element of toxic gases when the fire occurs. The amount of toxic gases measured from the ISO 5659 chamber using cone heater was measured and compared the results for each materials.

  • The study was carried out about the design of power Car for Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The running resistance accounts toy the greater part of overall resistance to front hue motion. So, The Power Car's shape has to be mainly determined by aerodynamic considerations. In the train configuration of the KHST, the front and rear power cars assume the role of a locomotive. They accommodate all the machinery for providing traction. The train is controlled and monitored from power cars. This report was descrived, which focuses on aerodynamics, mass balance, the car body and the layout of the equipment that is fitted into power car.

A Study on the Neck Injury in Low Speed Rear Impact through the Real Car Test (실차시험을 통한 저속 추돌시 목상해 연구)

  • The neck injury occupies the most of injury that happened by the rear impact car accident. This study was analyzed about influence of the neck injury in low speed rear impact and car crash accident investigation. There is no neck injury in low speed side rear impact. On the other hand, there is initial neck injury symptom of 10 % but no long-term neck injury symptom in low speed offset rear impact. It appeared that the possibility of neck injury in low speed rear impact is low. For the more study about the neck injury, it should be evaluate the effects of the car body structure, frame structure and rear crash pattern.

  • Collision accident reconstruction algorithm are developed based on the deformation shape and severity of a car body. At first, the body stiffness equation representing the force-deformation relationship is derived using finite element analysis for head on collision of two cars. The database of deformation shapes and energies is constructed for five different collision configurations; each configuration contains three velocity conditions. Deformation shapes are obtained using a curve fitting method and result in cubic polynomials. Deformation energies are calculated using a stiffness equation and deformation data. Three algorithms are developed to reconstruct collision configuration compared with constructed database. The developed algorithms show reasonably good performance to find collisions conditions for some test problems.

  • The automobile networks consist of the communication bus systems which become independent and heterogeneous each other. Most often, the CAN buses are implemented in a car in order to connect all the electronic control units in various ways. Thus, some gateways are necessary for exchanging the useful information between electronic control units on the buses. The automobile body networks group is divided into two kinds on a large scale, namely the low-speed bus and the high-speed bus. To interchange messages between the two, a CAN signal gateway is designed and implemented in a miniature scale. A network analyzer (called "Vehicle spy") and an oscilloscope monitor network situation to confirm the due operation of CAN signal gateway. The efficiency of the designed gateway is evaluated. The more message thread increased, the more efficiency decreased.

  • Crash box is introduced to vehicle design to improve the impact performance and reduce the damage of vehicle body at impact speed. The crash box behind bumper can absorb impact energy effectively to improve vehicle safety. Repair cost at collision accident can be cut down by use of this box. The configuration of car body must be designed by considering the characteristic of material due to the deformation of car body happened at impact. Many papers have been published about material of crash box all over the world. The study of crash box with tube expansion type has been going on Korea. This study is done by the simulation analysis about front collisions against 5 kinds of aluminum crash boxes with the basic structure of square section.

Development of electrode tips for spot welding to reduce indentation of car body surface of stainless rolling stocks (스텐레스 철도차량 외판 압흔 깊이 감소를 위한 스폿용접용 전극팁 개발)

  • Stainless rolling stocks are usually fabricated by spot welding process without painting. Indentation on the surface of the car body after spot welding injures the beauty of the stainless rolling stocks. In this study, electrode tips to reduce the indentation are developed and applied to the actual spot welding works. The developed tips are composed of head, nut hole far cooling water, body and resistance material. They provide large surface contact area with the base materials during spot welding and enhance the current density by necking. Experimental results using the developed tips show that small indentation and sufficient tensile shear strength is produced due to large contact area and enhanced current density.

A Study on the Relationship between Impact Speed and Throw Distance of Pedestrian by the difference of the frontal shape of SUV vehicles (SUV 차량의 전면 구조 형상에 따른 충돌 속도와 보행자 전도 거리의 상관관계에 관한 연구)

  • The type of pedestrian accident can be characterized by vehicular frontal shape and the height of pedestrian. The trajectory of pedestrian after collision by passenger car is different from that by bus due to vehicular frontal shape. The frontal shape of SUV vehicles is dissimilar to passenger car and bus. So, the trajectory and throw distance of pedestrian by SUV vehicles is not the same of passenger car and bus. In this paper, a series of pedestrian kinetic simulation were conducted to inspect the difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car and bus by PC-CRASH that is the program for kinetic analysis of articulated body. From the results, if the height of pedestrian is taller than 1.70m, there is no difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car, but if the height of pedestrian is about 1.55m throw distance of SUV vehicle is about 4m longer than that of passenger car at each impact speed. The throw distance of pedestrian by Bus is shorter than that of passenger car and SUV at each impact speed.

  • Nowadays, most car manufactures have tried to improve fuel efficiency and corrosion resistance of car body. Therefore, use of high strength steels and coated steel becomes more and more increased. In this study, spot weld characteristics according to lap sequence of sheets were analyzed using simulation method for three different steel sheet of car body which were EDDQ class coated steel with 0.7t, high strength steel 440R with 1.2t and advanced high strength steel DP 590 with 1.0t. Using simulation, weldability was evaluated by nugget size of welded zone according to nugget growth curve and welding current with respect to lap sequence of sheets. Contact resistance of each sheets contact point was used to analyze formation of nugget and optimal lap sequence was suggested.
