  • In the CDMA system, the Multiple access interference(MAI) causes system performance and capacity degradation. One of the MAI cancel method is a feedback detector that orthogonal decision-feedback detector(ODFD) and Deocrrelating decision-feedback detector(DDFD) have been studied by now. In this paper, we propose a blind adaptive ODFD(BA-ODFD) with blind equalizer combined ODFD, Also we simulate the operation of BA-ODFD in AWGN channel and Rayleigh (tiding channel. and compare blind adaptive ODFD with blind adaptive DDFD.

  • Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is a widely adopted technique to drive the motor using the voltage source inverters. Since they generate high frequency Common Mode (CM) Voltage, a high shaft voltage in induction motor is induced which leads to parasitic capacitive currents causing adverse effects such as premature deterioration of ball bearings and high levels of electromagnetic emissions. This paper presents an Active Cancellation Circuit (ACC) which can significantly reduce the CM voltage hence the common mode current in the three phase induction motor drives. In the proposed method the CM voltage is detected by the capacitors and applied to the frame of the motor to cancel the CM voltage hence the CM current. Unlike the conventional methods the proposed method does not insert the transformer in between the inverter and motor, a high power rating three phase transformer is not required and no losses associated with it. In addition the proposed method is applicable to any kind of PWM motor drives regardless of their PWM methods. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by the experiments with a three phase induction motor (1.1kW 415V/60Hz) combined with a three phase voltage source inverter modulated by the Space Vector Modulation (SVM).

  • Gradient coil offers the spatial informations of sample or patient in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging(NMRI) and its gradient field linearity over the field of view(FOV) has many influence on the MR imaging. Accurate and good quality MR imaging can be acquired by the high gradient field linearity over the FOV. So it is an important part to design of gradient coil with good linearity in the wide imaging range. Usually, Z-directional gradient field is generated by using the Helmholtz type coil which is consisted of one-pair loop with anti-current path. It gets less about 40% linearity of the diameter spherical volume(DSV). In this study, we calculated optimized geometrical parameters of two-pair loop system to cancel odd terms up to $B_7$ included effectively. we also analyzed and compared the gradient field distribution and linearity of the common Helmholtz coil with them of the two-pair loop system.

  • This paper proposes a gain scheduled control technique using time-delay for the nonlinear system with plant uncertainties and unexpected disturbances. The time delay-based gain scheduled control depends on a direct estimation of a function representing the effect of uncertainties. The information from the estimation is used to cancel the unknown dynamics and the unexpected disturbances simultaneously. The proposed estimation scheme with a finite convergence time is formulated in order to estimate the unborn scheduling variable variation. In other words, the time delay-based gain scheduled control uses the past observation of the system's response and the control input to directly modify the control actions rather than to adjust the controller gains or to identify system parameters. It has a simple structure so as to minimize the computational burden. The benefits of this proposed scheme are demonstrated in the simulation of an electromagnetic suspension system with plant uncertainties and external disturbances, and the proposed controller is compared with the conventional state feedback controller.

  • In this paper, conceptual design of scroll expander-compressor for Stirling engine utilizing solar energy as heat source has been carried out. Orbiting scroll member was designed to have a double-sided structure to reduce the overall scroll size and to cancel out the axial forces on the orbiting scroll base plate. Diameter of designed scroll base plate was about 251 mm for the expander, and it was about 218 mm for the compressor. With operating condition such as temperature range of $400^{\circ}C/20^{\circ}C$, pressure range of 6 MPa/2 MPa, and shaft speed of 2700 rpm, the shaft output of the designed scroll expander was calculated to be 49.8 kW, while input power for the scroll compressor was 38.6 kW, yielding 11.2 kW for the output power of the Stirling engine. Overall efficiencies of the scroll expander and compressor were 93.73% and 92.87%, respectively.

  • In this paper, an embedded Kalman filter for a time-delayed controller is designed on an FPGA to estimate accelerations of the robot arm. When the time-delayed controller is used as a controller, the inertia estimation along with accelerations is needed to form the control law. Although the time-delayed controller is known to be robust to cancel out uncertainties in the nonlinear systems, performances are very much dependent upon estimating the acceleration term ${\ddot{q}}(t-{\lambda})$ along with inertia estimation ${\hat{D}}(t-{\lambda})$. Estimating accelerations using the finite difference method is quite simple, but the accuracy of estimation is poor specially when the robot moves slowly. To estimate accelerations more accurately, various filters such as the least square fit filter and the Kalman filter are introduced and implemented on an FPGA chip. Experimental studies of following the desired trajectory are conducted to show the performance of the controller. Performances of different filters are investigated experimentally and compared.

  • This paper presents a control scheme to cancel periodic disturbance with unknown frequency for optical disc drives. The control scheme consists of an output regulator and a frequency adaptive algorithm. Here, the frequency adaptive algorithm based on IMP plays a role in obtaining a frequency of periodic disturbance. The stability analysis of whole system and disturbance rejection performance are proven by the singular perturbation theory. The contribution of this paper are as follows. (1) There is no design constraints of the frequency range. (2) Ability for perfect disturbance rejection is preserved even with uncertain plant model.

  • This paper focuses on the actuation system combined with a piezoelectric transducer and an electric circuit, which leads to a new insight; the electric actuation system is equivalent to mechanical variable-stiffness actuation systems. By controlling the switch in the circuit, the electric status of the piezoelectric transducer is changed, and consequently a variable-stiffness mechanism is achieved on the electric actuator. This proposed actuator features a shift in the equilibrium point of force, while conventional electrically-induced variable-stiffness actuators feature the variation of the stiffness value. We intensively focus on the equilibrium shift in the actuation system, which has been neglected. The stiffness of the variable-stiffness actuator is periodically modulated by controlling the switch, to suppress the vibration of the system in an open-loop way. It is proved that this electric actuator is equivalent to its mechanical counterpart, and that the electrical version has some practical advantages over the mechanical one. Furthermore, another kind of electrically-induced variable-stiffness actuator, using an energy-recycling mechanism is also discussed from the viewpoint of open-loop vibration control. Extensive numerical simulations provide comprehensive assessment on both electrically-induced variable-stiffness actuators employed for open-loop vibration control.

  • This paper contributes to development of a new method for detecting rear-side vehicles and estimating the positions for blind spot region or providing the lane change information by using vision systems. Because the real image acquired during car driving has a lot of information including the target vehicle and background image as well as the noises such as lighting and shading, it is hard to extract only the target vehicle against the background image with satisfied robustness. In this paper, the target vehicle has been detected by repetitive image processing such as sobel and morphological operations and a Kalman filter has been also designed to cancel the background image and prevent the misreading of the target image. The proposed method can get faster image processing and more robustness rather than the previous researches. Various experiments were performed on the highway driving situations to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • This study introduce to the fuzzy membership filter to cancel a high frequency noise of welding current. And ART2 which has the competitive learning network classifiers the signal patterns for the filtered welding signal. A welding current possesses a specific pattern according to the existence or the size of a welding gap. These specific patterns result in different classification in comparison with an occasion for no welding gap. The patterns In each case of 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, and no welding gap are identified by the artificial neural network. These procedure is an off-line execution. In on-line execution, the identification model of neural network for the classified pattern is located on ahead of the welding plant. And when the welding current patterns pass through the neural network in the direction of feedforward. it is possible to recognize the existence or the size of a welding gap.
