Zoom tracking involves the automatic adjustment of the focus motor in response to the zoom motor movements for the purpose of keeping an object of interest in focus, and is typically achieved by moving the zoom and focus motors in a zoom lens module so as to follow the so-called "trace curve", which shows the in-focus motor positions versus the zoom motor positions for a specific object distance. Thus, one can simply implement zoom tracking by following the most closest trace curve after all the trace curve data are stored in memory. However, this approach is often prohibitive in practical implementation because of its large memory requirement. Many other zoom tracking methods such as GZT, AZT and etc. have been proposed to avoid large memory requirement but with a deteriorated performance. In this paper, we propose a new zoom tracking method called 'Approximate Feedback Zoom Tracking method (AFZT)' on DM36x-based IP network camera, which does not need large memory by approximating nearby trace curves, but generates better zoom tracking accuracy than GZT or AZT by utilizing focus value as feedback information. Experiments through real implementation shows the proposed zoom tracking method improves the tracking performance and works in real-time.
This paper addresses the development of 3D data acquisition system (3D scanner) based laser structured-light image. The 3D scanner consists of a stripe laser generator, a conventional camera, and a rotation table. The stripe laser onto an object has distortion according to 3D shape of an object. By analyzing the distortion of the laser stripe in a camera image, the scanner obtains a group of 3D point data of the object. A simple semiconductor stripe laser diode is adopted instead of an expensive LCD projector for complex structured-light pattern. The camera has an optical filter to remove illumination noise and improve the performance of the distance measurement. Experimental results show the 3D data acquisition performance of the scanner with less than 0.2mm measurement error in 2 minutes. It is possible to reconstruct a 3D shape of an object and to reproduce the object by a commercially available 3D printer.
In this paper, position control of focal plane compensation device using piezoelectric actuator is conducted. The forcal plane compensation device installed on earth observation satellite camera compensates micro-vibration from reaction wheels. In this study, four experimental models of the open-loop compensation device are derived using MATLAB system identification toolbox in the input range of 0~50Hz. Subsequently, the PID controller for each model is designed and the performance test of each controller is conducted through MATLAB/Simulink. According to frequency response analysis of the closed-loop compensation device system, the PID controller designed for 38~50Hz input range has enough tracking performance for the whole 0~50Hz input range. The maximum output error is about $1{\mu}m$ for the input range. The simulation results has been verified by the experimental method.

In this paper, we present and compare two different multiple camera collaboration strategies to reduce false association in finding the correspondence of objects. Collaboration matrices are defined with the required minimum separation for an effective collaboration because homographic lines for objects association are ineffective with the insufficient separation. The first strategy uses the collaboration matrices to select the best pair out of many cameras having the maximum separation to efficiently collaborate on the object association. The association information in selected cameras is propagated to unselected cameras by the global information constructed from the associated targets. While the first strategy requires the long operation time to achieve the high association rate due to the limited view by the best pair, it reduces the computational cost using homographic lines. The second strategy initiates the collaboration process of objects association for all the pairing cases of cameras regardless of the separation. In each collaboration process, only crossed targets by a transformed homographic line from the other collaborating camera generate homographic lines. While the repetitive association processes improve the association performance, the transformation processes of homographic lines increase exponentially. The proposed methods are evaluated with real video sequences and compared in terms of the computational cost and the association performance. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed methods effectively reduce the false association rate as compared with basic pair-wise collaboration.
We have studied the port-automation system which is requested by the steep increment of cost and complexity for processing the freight. This paper will introduce a new algorithm for navigating and controlling the autonomous Guided Vehicle (AGV). The camera has the optical distortion in nature and is sensitive to the external ray, the weather, and the shadow, but it is very cheap and flexible to make and construct the automation system for the port. So we tried to apply to the AGV for detecting and tracking the lane using the CCD camera. In order to make the error stable and exact, this paper proposes new concept and algorithm for obtaining the error is generated by the Virtual Photo-Sensor Array (VPSA). VPSAs are implemented by programming and very easy to use for the various autonomous systems. Because the load of the computation is light, the AGV utilizes the maximal performance of the CCD camera and enables the CPU to take multi-tasks. We experimented on the proposed algorithm using the mobile robot and confirmed the stable and exact performance for tracking the lane.
Along with the advancement of deep learning technology, securing high-quality dataset for verification of developed technology is emerging as an important issue, and developing robust deep learning models to the domestic road environment is focused by many research groups. Especially, unlike expressways and automobile-only roads, in the complex city driving environment, various dynamic objects such as motorbikes, electric kickboards, large buses/truck, freight cars, pedestrians, and traffic lights are mixed in city road. In this paper, we built our dataset through multi camera-based processing (collection, refinement, and annotation) including the various objects in the city road and estimated quality and validity of our dataset by using YOLO-based model in object detection. Then, quantitative evaluation of our dataset is performed by comparing with the public dataset and qualitative evaluation of it is performed by comparing with experiment results using open platform. We generated our 2D dataset based on annotation rules of KITTI/COCO dataset, and compared the performance with the public dataset using the evaluation rules of KITTI/COCO dataset. As a result of comparison with public dataset, our dataset shows about 3 to 53% higher performance and thus the effectiveness of our dataset was validated.
Among the detector materials available at room temperature, thallium bromide (TlBr), which has a relatively high atomic number and density, is widely used for gamma camera imaging. This study aimed to verify the usefulness of TlBr through quantitative evaluation by modeling detectors of various compound types using Monte Carlo simulations. The Geant4 application for tomographic emission was used for simulation, and detectors based on cadmium zinc telluride and cadmium telluride materials were selected as a comparison group. A pixel-matched parallel-hole collimator with proven excellent performance was modeled, and phantoms used for quality control in nuclear medicine were used. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast to noise ratio (CNR), sensitivity, and full width at half maximum (FWHM) were used for quantitative analysis to evaluate the image quality. The SNR, CNR, sensitivity, and FWHM for the TlBr detector material were approximately 1.05, 1.04, 1.41, and 1.02 times, respectively, higher than those of the other detector materials. The SNR, CNR and sensitivity increased with increasing detector thickness, but the spatial resolution in terms of FWHM decreased. Thus, we demonstrated the feasibility and possibility of using the TlBr detector material in comparison with commercial detector materials.
Autonomous vehicles should recognize and respond to the specified speed to drive in compliance with regulations. To recognize the specified speed, the most representative method is to read the numbers of the signs by recognizing the speed signs in the front camera image. This study proposes a method that utilizes YOLO-Labeling-Labeling-EfficientNet. The sign box is first recognized with YOLO, and the numeric digit is extracted according to the pixel value from the recognized box through two labeling stages. After that, the number of each digit is recognized using EfficientNet (CNN) learned with the virtual environment dataset produced directly. In addition, we estimated the depth of information from the height value of the recognized sign through regression analysis. We verified the proposed algorithm using the virtual racing environment and GTSRB, and proved its real-time performance and efficient recognition performance.
