상대속도법과 역기구학을 이용한 원통 캠의 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study On the Manufacturing process of Cylindrical Cam based on Relative Velocity Method and Inverse Kinematics)

  • Based on the relative velocity method and the inverse kinematics theory, this paper presents an automated system for designing and manufacturing of an open type cylindrical cam with a rotating follower(OCRF). In the first part, this paper defines the relative velocity method for OCRF and calculates the contact point by using the coordinate transformation technique. In the second part, it generates NC Code of a CNC machine center for inverse kinematics by using the cutter location and the cutter orientation of OCRF. Finally, the automated CADICAM program developed in the paper shows an example on the desip and manufacture process of OCRF.

롤러 프로파일링을 고려한 박용 디젤기관 캠-롤러사이의 탄성유체윤활해석 (Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication Analysis on the Cam-Roller for a Marine Diesel Engine with Consideration of Roller Profiling)

  • A numerical procedure to analyze 3-dimensional elastohydrodynamic lubrication was applied on the cam-roller contact of the valve mechanism for a marine diesel engine. Both the pressure distribution and the film thickness between the cam and roller follower were calculated for each time step of the whole cycle. The pressure spike is shown at the outlet of the roller edge and it is getting higher as the external load is increased. An effective profiling method for the roller edge was suggested using the results of elastohydrodynamic lubrication analysis and the peak pressure was removed completely with the new profiling.

  • 디젤 엔진의 푸쉬로드 타입의 밸브 트레인에서의 힘의 전달 과정을 기구학적 응용을 통하여 구하였다. 이러한 힘의 최종 전달 단계인 캠과 평판 종동물의 접촉에서의 작용하중과 상대 운동 속도를 계산하였고 접촉면에서의 유막 두께를 고체면의 탄성변형을 고려하여 계산하였다. 특히 탄성 유체 윤활의 해석을 하는데 있어서 안정성과 수렴성이 우수한 멀티그리드 멀티레벨 기법을 사용하였으며 동하중 상태를 고려하여 유막 두께를 계산하고 기존의 정상상태의 해석해와 비교하였다.

2D 이미지의 윤곽선 인식을 통한 2.5D 급속 정밀부조시스템 (2.5D Quick Turnaround Engraving System through Recognition of Boundary Curves in 2D Images)

  • Design is important in the IT, digital appliance, and auto industries. Aesthetic and art images are being applied for better quality of the products. Most image patterns are complex and much lead-time is required to implement them to the product design process. A precise reverse engineering method generating 2.5D engraving models from 2D artistic images is proposed through the image processing, NURBS interpolation and 2.5D reconstruction methods. To generate 2.5D TechArt models from the art images, boundary points of the images are extracted by using the adaptive median filter and the novel MBF (modified boundary follower) algorithm. Accurate NURBS interpolation of the points generates TechArt CAD models. Performance of the developed system has been confirmed through the quick turnaround 2.5D engraving simulation linked with the commercial CAD/CAM system.

  • This paper proposes a tube pump composed of small-sized cams and followers for an implantable intrathecal drug infusion device. Each followers is driven by a cam and liquid is discharged by a sequential reciprocal motion of the followers. The advantage of this structure is that it allows the pump to be clean and valveless. To design a small-sized, low power pump some analysis were performed to determine the design parameters of the cam, follower and the tube. To verify the feasibility of the experiment, a prototype was manufactured and its operating characteristics were investigated. Experimental results were in accordance with the expected results obtained from analysis.

  • This paper presents a implantable intrathecal drug infusion pump for pain control in cancer patients. This device consists of micropump module, drug reservoir module and control module. The micropump module using cam-follower mechanism composed of small-sized four cams and four followers. Each followers is driven by a cam and liquid is discharged by a sequential reciprocal motion of the followers. The advantage of this structure is that it allows the pump to be clean and valveless. The drug reservoir module composed of drug chamber, gas chamber and diaphragm. The control module composed of battery, wireless communication unit and controller.   • This paper is on the development of a system for removing membranes which is designed exclusively for aircraft components. Membrane removal solution is a most critical issue in aerospace industries since a method of manufacturing the components tends to be changed from fabrication of many parts to cutting into one body. The cutting method inevitably produces a huge amount of chips and then membranes remain in the body. The membrane removal process, as a result, becomes an important issue since it is directly related to productivity. We tried to develop a new machine which will replace the conventional method that uses a handy tool. The machine has been designed for a cutting tool set to follow the unique shape of the slot in the body by a cam follower and cut the membrane automatically. The design has been checked by structural analysis: stress and vibration analysis. A prototype test has been finished. This paper summarizes a series of development process of the deburring machine and some design issues are discussed.

  • This paper presents the analytical studies on the stress and strain of driven valve system of internal combustion engines. The stress and strain is predict using FEM. The particular interest is the dynamic strain at a specific point of the valve and valve seat. Cam and follower Assuming that one rigid surface. This study forced the effects changing Young's modulus and density of valve and valve seat contact area. It supports that the indirect method using FEM is reliable for prediction the actual displacement, stress and strain in the valve system.

  • In recent days, as the efficiency of electronic home applications become higher, that of the driving AC motor become higher. On this reason, the demand fir high capacity coil firming machine is increasing. Since the coil forming is not simply related with the only capacity of hydraulic cylinder, the development of a newer coil firming machine which has new filming mechanism new driving method, new filming tool, and new specification is required. In this paper, the virtual prototype which have new mechanism is developed. This prototype is tested and experimented on PC with the same condition as actual. The results from the virtual experiment is applied to the actual design process.

  • In many circumstances, it is desired to move a mass from one position to another without inducing any vibration in the mass being moved. Two such problems are considered here: the motion of a pendulum initiated by the specified motion of its support. In each case, it is desired that the system start at rest and come to rest in the second position. A simple strategy for the specified motion is given here. The method is motivated by engine cam-follower design. The force required to move the system in question is determined as well as the maximum value of the force required (and the times at which these forces take place) is determined.
