Implementation of SIP-based Extended Caller Preference in VoIP System (VoIP 시스템에서의 SIP 기반의 확장된 Caller Preference 구현)

  • SIP Caller Preference is an useful function that allows a caller to express preferences about request handling in servers. It can also feat appropriate call processing according to the callee capabilities. However, only the category of the media is considered as a criteria for target selection in the caller preference. In this case, if the callee's media information such as codec is different from the caller, an additional re­negotiation occurs for SIP call setup. Therefore, in this paper, we have suggested an extended caller preference to solve this problem. In our SIP based VoIP system, a network sewer uses detailed media informations for media stream in the session to select the target for SIP call setup. The sewer gives higher priority to the candidate which do not require re-negotiation for call setup, so that an effective call setup can be achieved in our system.

iVisher: Real-Time Detection of Caller ID Spoofing

  • Voice phishing (vishing) uses social engineering, based on people's trust in telephone services, to trick people into divulging financial data or transferring money to a scammer. In a vishing attack, a scammer often modifies the telephone number that appears on the victim's phone to mislead the victim into believing that the phone call is coming from a trusted source, since people typically judge a caller's legitimacy by the displayed phone number. We propose a system named iVisher for detecting a concealed incoming number (that is, caller ID) in Session Initiation Protocol-based Voice-over-Internet Protocol initiated phone calls. Our results demonstrate that iVisher is capable of detecting a concealed caller ID without significantly impacting upon the overall call setup time.

  • SIP(Session Initiation Protocol)는 사용자간의 멀티미디어 세션을 처리하기 위한 응용 계층의 시그널링 프로토콜로서 유연성 및 확장이 용이한 장점을 가지고 있다. Caller Preference는 이러한 SIP의 기본적인 프로토콜을 확장한 형태로서 송신자가 Preference를 명시하여 서버가 처리할 응답 기능을 선택하거나 수신자의 수신 능력(Callee Capabilities)에 따라 적절한 호처리를 진행할 수 있는 서비스이다. 본 논문에서는 SIP를 기반으로 하는 VoIP(Voice over IP) 시스템을 구현함에 있어 UA(User Agent)내에 Preference를 선택적으로 명시할 수 있는 기능을 포함시키고 또한 이의 요청에 대한 수용이 가능하고 호처리를 진행할 수 있는 네트워크 서버를 구현하였다.

  • This paper describes the development of the Interfacing unit between PSTN and interphone network. The designed and realised system detects the ring signal from PSTN and makes off-hook condition when it is detected. Then the caller can hear the response tone from the unit and the tones of the interphone network condition. The developed system receives the interphone number to which the caller wants to connect by MFC tones and drives Interphone switch matrix. Thus, a call is connected to the interphone user directly. The caller may press the interphone number up to 10 digits and the last two of which are recognized as valid ones. The caller must press the first digit within 20 seconds after system response.

Territory Defense Strategy of the Wrinkled Frog, Rana rugosa

  • The advertisement call of anurans functions to attract potential mates. The dominant frequency of an advertisement call is generally getting lower with increased snout-vent length (SVL) of the caller Rana rugosa has an advertisement call tilth a particularly high frequency modulation. We conducted a playback experiment to verify the function of frequency modulation, and investigated the territorial behavior of the frog. The frog has five types of territory defense strategy. Strategy choice depended on the caller's SVL. Small males became satellites or lowered the dominant frequency of their advertisement call, whereas large males actively defended their territory with encounter calls. In response to high frequency (1107 Hz) playback, the frogs lowered their advertisement call frequency, and towered them further in response to the low frequency (1028 Hz) playback. In addition, the number of pulses in a call was increased in response to the playback. These results indicate that the frog avoids physical conflict with competitors by selecting a territory defense strategy suitable for the caller's size, and by lowering its call frequency to disguise its SVL.

  • Spam call is one of the main security threat in VoIP services. In this paper, we have designed simulation model for performance evaluation of VoIP spam defense mechanism. The simulation model has functions for performance evaluation such as calls generation and input/output comparison. Four representative caller models have been developed for performance evaluation and each model has its own characteristics as statistical parameters. The target mechanism of performance evaluation is SPIT(Spam over Internet Telephony) level decision algorithm, and we have derived SPIT levels of caller models. The performance evaluation model is designed using the DEVS formalism and DEVSJAVA$^{TM}$ is exploited for development and execution of simulation models.

  • Instant messaging(IM) service is one of the useful communication means in the Intemet for exchanging simple messages between users. Usually, IM service is coupled with Presence service which provides status information of users. In this case, instant messages are sent and received directly between on-line users. Therefore, messages could not be exchanged when users are in off-line state. In this paper, We have implemented SIP based Instant Messaging System which includes message server that can store and manage instant messages. With this message server, messages could be exchanged legalness of user states. Furthermore, our system includes message waiting indication event package which provides useful informations about messages in the message server. And this system also includes the Caller Preference capabilities.

Abiotic effects on calling phenology of three frog species in Korea

  • Calling behavior is often used to infer breeding patterns in anurans. We studied the seasonal and diel calling activities of anuran species in a wetland in central Korea to determine the calling season and to evaluate the effects of abiotic factors on male calling. Acoustic monitoring was used in which frog calls were recorded for a full day, once a week, throughout an entire year. Using acoustic monitoring, we identified three frog species in the study site. Males of Rana dybowskii called in late winter and early spring; we thus classified this species as a winter/spring caller. The results of binary logistic regression showed that temperature, relative humidity, and 1-day lag rainfall were significant factors for male calling in R. dybowskii. Temperature and relative humidity were important factors for the calling activity of R. nigromaculata, whereas 24-h rainfall and 1-day lag rainfall were not significant. Thus, we determined R. nigromaculata to be a summer caller independent of weather. In Hyla japonica, relative humidity, 24-h rainfall, and 1- day lag rainfall were significant for male calling, suggesting that this species is a summer caller dependent on local rain.
