Signal processing method of bubble detection in sodium flow based on inverse Fourier transform to calculate energy ratio

  • Electromagnetic vortex flowmeter is a new type of instrument for detecting leakage of steam generator, and the signal processing method based on the envelope to calculate energy ratio can effectively detect bubbles in sodium flow. The signal processing method is not affected by changes in the amplitude of the sensor output signal, which is caused by changes in magnetic field strength and other factors. However, the detection sensitivity of the electromagnetic vortex flowmeter is reduced. To this end, a signal processing method based on inverse Fourier transform to calculate energy ratio is proposed. According to the difference between the frequency band of the bubble noise signal and the flow signal, only the amplitude in the frequency band of the flow signal is retained in the frequency domain, and then the flow signal is obtained by the inverse Fourier transform method, thereby calculating the energy ratio. Using this method to process the experimental data, the results show that it can detect 0.1 g/s leak rate of water in the steam generator, and its performance is significantly better than that of the signal processing method based on the envelope to calculate energy ratio.

  • This paper proposes a new position detection method for train speed control using the PDOA(Phase Difference of Arrival). This method aims to apply to AGT(Automated Guide way Transit) systems, operated with driverless. So it is absolutely required to range, calculate and decide a train position precisely. This system consists of VRS (Vehicle Radio Set) and WRS(Wayside Radio Set). The VRS transmits a wireless signal to the WRS, the controller calculate a straight line with the PDOA. Next step calculate an exact position using track DB. This paper includes the concept, configuration, analysis and results of this method.

  • In this paper, to calculate accurate remaining volume, it presents how to figure out nickel-cadmium battery algorithm. A nickel-cadmium battery has widely been used in industrial field and to military. Recent high demands on the battery caused 'How to calculate accurate remaining volume is very important task to be solved. In this paper, it says it is useful using the terminal voltage change of the resistance that can be connected with the battery and the differentiation of the terminal voltage to calculate remaining volume of nickel-cadmium battery. And these can be used for volume inference data so that it is fuzzy based system which can be helpful to inference the remaining volume by the resistance of terminal voltage change. Because of electrochemical complexity, the volume calculating system is inferencing undirectly by experimentally built DB where as current the existing volume models are suffering to be adapted.

  • This paper proposes a sensorless drive of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. In general EMF is used to calculate the current of Permanet Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM). However the current has a lag component by a time constant. So it is difficult to directly calculate a position angle. To estimate the position using the current without a lag component in this paper, the controller calculates the motor current by using a superposition principle in the equivalent circuit and then compensates lag component with a time constant of the motor. Therefore the estimated motor current without a lag compoent can be obtained and it is used to calculate the rotor position indirectly. In order to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, experimental results are shown in detail.

  • Recently, the finite element analysis(FEM) using two dimensional magnetic permeability tensor was introduced to calculate the magnetic field considering the rotational hysteresis. We obtain the tensor matrix from the measured data using two-dimensional magnetic measuring apparatus. We calculate the induced magnetic flux density and the rotational hysteresis loss under the model with the same condition with the measuring apparatus. Therefore we show that FEM with tensor can be used to calculate the magnetic flux density and the rotational hysteresis loss in the arbitrary rotational magnetic field.

FUZZY ESTIMATION OF VEHICLE SPEED USING AN ACCELEROMETER AND WHEEL SENSORS

  • The absolute longitudinal speed of a vehicle is estimated by using data from an accelerometer of the vehicle and wheel speed sensors of a standard 50-tooth antilock braking system. An intuitive solution to this problem is, 'When wheel slip is low, calculate the vehicle velocity from the wheel speeds; when wheel slip is high, calculate the vehicle speed by integrating signal of the accelerometer.' The speed estimator weighted with fuzzy logic is introduced to implement the above concept, which is formulated as an estimation method. And the method is improved through experiments by how to calculate speed from acceleration signal and slip ratios. It is verified experimentally to usefulness of estimation speed of a vehicle. And the experimental result shows that the estimated vehicle longitudinal speed has only a $6\%$ worst-case error during a hard braking maneuver lasting a few seconds.

  • In order to estimate the efficiency of an evaporative heat exchanger having mini channel, the equations to calculate heat exchanger properties, those are air temperatures and water temperatures etc, are derived from the governing equations based on the Navier-Stokes equation, even though there are several assumptions to make problem simplify. There are three heat transfer zones at the mini channel heat exchanger depending on the water condition. So, there are three governing equations and solutions to calculate the properties. As a results of this study, the equations to calculate a saturation point and a dry point are derived to evaluate an evaporative heat exchanger having micro channel. It is supposed to predict the performance and evaluate a mini channel heat exchanger.

  • Systematic methods to calculate thermodynamic properties of carbon dioxide, HFC-134a and HCFC-22 are presented. First, application of a basic method to identify the saturation state with given temperature or pressure is attempted and the feasibility of auxil­iary equations is tested. Next, detailed procedures are suggested to tell a phase when tem­perature/pressure and another property are specified. Finally the Newton-Raphson method is applied to calculate unknown thermodynamic properties fixing the state with the two inde­pendent properties specified. The procedures described here are utilized to develop a computer program, which is used to find the relation between temperature and pressure with maximum isobaric heat capacity for super-critical carbon dioxide.

  • A numerical procedure is introduced to calculate local ventilation effectiveness using the definitions of local decay rate and local mean age. A low Reynolds number $k-{\varepsilon}$ model is implemented to calculate steady state turbulent velocity distributions, and a step-down method is used to calculate transient concentration distributions. Simulations are carried out for several different values of air change rates and several different diffuser angles in a two-dimensional model of a half scale office room. The results show that the local ventilation effectiveness within a room could vary significantly from one location to another. The nominal air change rate based on the assumption of complete mixing of room air does not provide the local ventilation effectiveness information. It is numerically proved that the local mean age distribution obtained from the transient calculation is equivalent to the steady state concentration distribution with homogeneously distributed contaminant sources.

Comparison of Best Invariant Estimators with Best Unbiased Estimators in Location-scale Families

  • In order to estimate a parameter $(\alpha,\beta^r), r\epsilonN$, in a distribution belonging to a location-scale family we usually use best invariant estimator (BIE) and best unbiased estimator (BUE). But in some conditions Ryu (1996) showed that BIE is better than BUE. In this paper we calculate risks of BIE and BUE in a normal and an exponential distribution respectively and calculate a percentage risk improvement exponential distribution respectively and calculate a percentage risk improvement (PRI). We find the sample size n which make no significant differences between BIE and BUE in a normal distribution. And we show that BIE is always significantly better than BUE in an exponential distribution. Also simulation in a normal distribution is given to convince us of our result.
