  • The economical producing method of casein phosphopeptide (CPP) and the physicochemical properties related to the solubilization of calcium were studied. Firstly, The compositions of the purified CPP-III were 13.1% of nitrogen, 2.3∼2.4% of phosphate and the ratio of N/P was 5.4∼5.6. In consideration of economic aspects, the preparation method of the CPP- I and II which were lower purity than the CPP-III was established. The physico-chemical property of the CPP was compared with the enzymically dephosphorylated CPP. CPP and polyglutamate effectively inhibited the formation of insoluble calcium phosphates at physiological pH.

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to assess the difference in efficacy between calcium metaphosphate (CMP)-coated implant fixtures and conventional resorbable blasted media (RBM) processed implant fixtures. MATERIALS AND METHODS. This study targeted 50 implants from 44 patients who visited Dankook University Dental Hospital. Implantations were done separately for RBM treated and CMP-coated implants, although their design was the same. Calcium metaphosphate has a quicker biodegradation process through hydrolysis compared to other phosphate calcium groups. For the first year of the implantation, the resorption volume of marginal bone analyzed via radiography and perio-test value were measured, under the check plan. Their analyses were composed of a non-inferiority trials test. A 95% level of reliability was used. RESULTS. In the comparative analysis of the resorption volume of marginal bone and the perio-test value, no statistically significant difference was found between the CMP-coated implants and RBM implants. CONCLUSION. One year after the implant placement, CMP-coated implants were found not to be inferior to the conventional RBM implants.

  • We previously reported that phospholipase$A_2$ ($PLA_2$)-related pathway and capacitative calcium entry (CCE) via store-operated calcium channel (SOC) were involved in the regulation of muscarinic receptor- mediated sAPP release. We also observed that stimulation of muscarinic receptor associated with the inositol phosphate cascade resulted not only in increase of CCE but also in activation of PLA$_2$ in SH-SY5Y cells. In this study, we further investigated whether the $PLA_2$ isoforms differently regulate the muscarinic receptor-mediated sAPP release, and examined the relationships between activation of $PLA_2$ isoforms and CCE mediated by muscarinic receptors in SH-SY5Y cells. • In order to utilize protein hydrolysate produced from hoki (Johnius Belengeri) frame among many different fish processing wastes, hoki frame peptide (PHFP) and phosphorylated hoki frame peptide (PHFP) were prepared, and their calcium absorption accelerating effects were investigated in comparison to control and casein phosphopeptide (CPP). In in vitro experiment, HFP and PHFP inhibited calcium phosphate formation as high as 1.5-fold and 2.5-fold, respectively, comparing to control, In addition, the inhibition rate of calcium phosphate precipitation as increasing concentrations of HFP and PHFP was risen and was similar to that of CPP at 2.0 mg/ml of PHFP concentration, In in vivo experiment using the rats, the groups fed HFP and PHFP indicated significantly increased calcium content in the femur. In particular, the calcium content in the small intestine of the rat fed PHFP was higher than that of control group by approximately $60\%$.
