전기로 환원 슬래그 미분말의 콘크리트용 혼화재 적용성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Application of Concrete Admixture using the EAF Reduction Slag)

  • 본 전기로 환원슬래그는 팽창성 물질이 함유되어 불안정한 상태이므로 건설용 재료로 그대로 사용하기에는 다소 무리가 있다. 그러나 전기로 환원슬래그에는 $11CaO{\cdot}7Al_2O_3{\cdot}CaF_2$${\beta}-C_2S$ (calcium aluminate compounds) 물질이 함유되어 있으므로 적절한 성분 보조제를 혼합하여 사용한다면 콘크리트용 혼화재료로서 사용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 콘크리트 혼화재료서 전기로환원슬래그 미분말의 사용 가능성을 검토하고자 한다. 전기로 환원슬래그 미분말의 치환율별 모르타르 강도특성과 응결특성을 검토 결과, 최적 치환율은 30% 수준으로 나타났다. 최적 치환율에 석고 첨가에 따른 응결시간 및 강도특성을 파악한 결과, 전기로환원슬래그 미분말 치환율 30%인 배합에 이수석고를 8% 혼입하였을 경우 압축강도 발현 성상 및 응결특성이 OPC와 유사한 결과를 나타내었다.

액상 칼슘 화합물 엽면살포에 의한 스탠다드 국화 '백마'의 줄기 경도 강화 (Enhancement of Stem Firmness in Standard Chrysanthemum 'Baekma' by Foliar Spray of Liquid Calcium Compounds)

  • 본 연구는 칼슘제의 엽면살포를 이용하여 국내육성 스탠다드 국화 '백마' 의 줄기 경도를 증대함으로써 상품성 향상 및 수송시 줄기가 부러져 절화의 품질이 떨어지는 문제점을 방지하고자 수행하였다. '백마'의 칼슘제 선발시험은 염화칼슘($CaCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$), 질산칼슘[$Ca(NO_3)_2{\cdot}4H_2O$], OS-Ca(굴껍질에서 추출한 천연 액상 칼슘 화합물)을 사용하였으며 Ca 함량을 기준으로 처리농도는 0, 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1.0%로 엽면살포하였다. 모든 칼슘제 1.0% 처리구에서 엽소 현상과 줄기가 휘어지는 심한 약해가 나타났다. OS-Ca는 또한 다른 칼슘제보다 '백마'에 흡수가 가장 잘 되었기 때문에 가장 심한 약해 현상이 나타난 것으로 보인다. 수확 후 최대 줄기경도는 다른 칼슘제 처리구보다 OS-Ca에서 더 높았으며, 특히 0.01% OS-Ca 처리구가 가장 우수하였다. 반면, 탄성강도와 최대굴곡강도에서는 0.001% OS-Ca 처리구가 다른 처리구보다 높게 나타났다. 따라서 OS-Ca 처리시 약해가 발생하지 않았던 농도인 0.005에서 0.05% 사이를 범위로 하여 '백마'의 줄기 강화에 적합한 칼슘제로 OS-Ca을 선정하였다. 다음 실험에서는 OS-Ca의 처리농도를 0, 0.005, 0.01, 0.05%로 세분화하여 처리하였다. OS-Ca 처리 후 생육을 조사한 결과, 0.05% OS-Ca에서 초장, 상 중부 줄기 직경, 엽수 및 부위별 건물중에서 무처리와 다른 처리농도보다 우수하였다. OS-Ca의 농도에 따른 줄기 경도에 있어서는 줄기 내 칼슘 함량, 최대경도, 탄성강도, 최대 굴곡강도에서 0.05% OS-Ca 처리구가 가장 우수하게 나타났고, 무처리구와 OS-Ca 처리구 사이에서 고도의 유의성을 나타내었다. 그러나 줄기횡단면의 총면적, 수조직 면적, 공동 면적, 공동률은 무처리구를 포함하여 모든 처리구 간의 유의성은 없었다. 따라서 '백마'의 줄기 경도와 줄기 공동률 간의 상관관계는 없는 것으로 판단되었다. 결론적으로, 백마의 영양생장기에 가장 적절한 엽면살포 칼슘제와 농도는 0.05% OS-Ca였으며, 수송시 백마의 줄기 경도를 강화시킬 것으로 판단되었다.

Ca 혼합처방인 SG 및 GN이 난소절제 백서의 골다공증에 미치는 영향 연구 (Effects of Herbal Compounds with Tuna bone Powder on Rodent Osteoporosis Model Induced by Ovariectomy)

  • In this research 2 sample compounds are made and analyzed in terms of the in vivo and in vitro effects on the ovariectomized rats. The 2 compounds are prescribed based on pathologic patterns of osteoporosis, and added calcium citrate from tuna bone powder. SG is for menopausal women(Type I osteoporosis) and GN is for senile men(Type II osteoporosis). Through these, SG manifested Significant effects on the T4, osteocalcin level, and through the histological changes of osteoid tissues and lipocytes. On the other hand GN showed significant increase on the biochemical markers of osteocalcin, TALP, even in histological features and bone mineral density and intensity of femur it showed meaningful changes. But In the results of RT-PCR on the IL-1β, IL-6, TNF α, there weren't coherent results with in vivo test, that is they were increased in the sample compound group than control group. These increase of bone resorption was seemed that those cytokines had the osteoclasts promote their own resorptive functions after fragments of bone tissues were increased in the cavity. And this clearance of inner fragments help the bone to strengthen its own substance. Putting together above facts, the sample compounds, SG and GN, made of tuna bone powder and herbal solutions are predicted that there would be pharmacological actions improving the osteoporosis initiated from the disorders of calcic absorption and increase of bone resorption. And GN has more effective actions than SG at least in the animal model.

시멘트 수화물-유기산의 결합특성과 그 Compound의 발수성 (Water-repellency and Bonding Characteristics of the Cement Hydrate-Organic Acid Compound)

  • 시멘트 수화물(CH)을 모르타르 콘크리트용 방수제 또는 고무 플라스틱용 충전제로 활용하기 위하여 스테아린산(SA)으로 처리하고 FT-IR, TGA, SEM, XRD, 접촉각층정기 등을 이용하여 CH-SA compound의 결합특성과 발수성을 측정하고, CH-SA compound를 레미탈에 사용하여 레미탈의 방수성을 알아 본 결과는 다음과 같이 요약된다. 1) 시멘트 수화물에 스테아린산을 2.0%이상만 처리하면 물레 대한 접촉각이 $120^{\circ}$이상으로 증가되면서 강한 발수성을 나타낸다. 2) 시멘트 수화물에 처리된 스테아린산은 스테아린산염 형태로 시멘트 수화물 표면에 고정된다. 3) 시멘트 수화물에 스테아린산을 5~10%처리한 CH-SA compound를 레미탈 중량의 3~6%정도 사용하면 레미탈의 압축강도는 5%정도 증가되며, 흡수비와 투수비는 각각 25%이하로 격감되어서 우수한 방수성을 나타낸다.

마이크로파-수열 합성법을 이용한 나노 수산화아파타이트 합성과 특성평가 (Characterization and Synthesis of Nano-Sized Hydroxyapatite Powder by Microwave-Hydrothermal Method)

  • Nano-sized hydroxyapatite (HAp) powders were synthesized by a microwave-hydrothermal method using $H_3PO_4\;and\;Ca(OH)_2$ as starting materials. The applied microwave powers and mole ratio of Ca/P were served as powerful factors in the synthesis of calcium phosphate. In the case of relatively low microwave power of 450 Wand Ca/P ratio of 1.57, the mixed calcium phosphate compounds were detected in the synthesized powders. But in the case of running at 550 Wand 1.67(Ca/P), the synthesized powder showed the monophase of HAp having two kinds of morphologies. One was a needle shape with $5\~15\;nm$ in width and $20\~50\;nm$ in length, and the other was a spherical shape of $10\~40\;nm$ in diameter.

Environmental Effect of the Coffee Waste and Anti-Microbial Property of Oyster Shell Waste Treatment

  • Coffee is one of the most popular and consumed beverages in the world, which leads to a high contents of solid residue known as spent coffee grounds (SCG). As is known, coffee beans contain several classes of health related chemicals, including phenolic compounds, melanoidins, diterpenes, xanthines and carotenoids. The waste water coming out of coffee industries has high concentration of organic pollutants and is very harmful for surrounding water bodies, human health and aquatic life if discharged directly into the surface waters. Hence it is essential to treat and manage the coffee waste. Oyster shells are a waste product from mariculture that creates a major disposal problem in coastal regions of southeast Korea. In the study, the oyster shell waste was used to treat the coffee waste and its effluents. Oyster shells are calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 2 h, and allowed to test the calcined CaO powder ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria in different aging coffee wastes. Calcined oyster shell powder showed anti-bacterial effect that inhibited cell growth of Escherichia coli and other bacterial forms. The antimicrobial activity of calcium oxide from oyster shell waste for biological treatment and utilization as a fertilizers with economic ecofriendly in nature.

  • The objective of this research paper is to discuss the waste coffee residue disposal and its environmental effects on the environment. As we know, coffee is one of the most demand and swallowed beverages in the world, which leads to large quantities of solid waste. Which can be toxic and a lot of environmental problems occur. In developing countries, there is a lack of proper coffee waste residue management. The coffee beans and residues contain several organic compounds. The wastewater from coffee industry emitted several pollutants (highly concentrated) and it contaminates the soil, ground waters, aquatic life, and also human health. Hence it is essential to treat the coffee waste residues. Mean while, oyster shell waste and its disposal also a big environmental challenge in the coastal regions of southeast Korea. In this paper, we focused the treatment of coffee waste residue with oyster shell waste powder. Primarily, oyster shells are calcinated at higher temperatures and investigated the calcined CaO powder as an anti microbic agent to the bacteria presented in coffee waste residues. We successfully applied calcium oxide from oyster shell waste, as an antimicrobic agent.

Effects of Panax ginseng, zearalenol, and estradiol on sperm function

  • Background: Estrogen signaling pathways are modulated by exogenous factors. Panax ginseng exerts multiple activities in biological systems and is classified as an adaptogen. Zearalenol is a potent mycoestrogen that may be present in herbs and crops arising from contamination or endophytic association. The goal of this study was to investigate the impact of P. ginseng, zearalenol and estradiol in tests on spermatozoal function. Methods: The affinity of these compounds for estrogen receptor (ER)-alpha and beta ($ER{\alpha}$ and $ER{\beta}$)-was assessed in receptor binding assays. Functional tests on boar spermatozoa motility, movement and kinematic parameters were conducted using a computer-assisted sperm analyzer. Tests for capacitation, acrosome reaction (AR), and chromatin decondensation in spermatozoa were performed using microscopic analysis. Results: Zearalenol-but not estradiol ($E_2$)- or ginseng-treated spermatozoa-decreased the percentage of overall, progressive, and rapid motile cells. Zearalenol also decreased spontaneous AR and increased chromatin decondensation. Ginseng decreased chromatin decondensation in response to calcium ionophore and decreased AR in response to progesterone ($P_4$) and ionophore. Conclusion: Zearalenol has adverse effects on sperm motility and function by targeting multiple signaling cascades, including $P_4$, $E_2$, and calcium pathways. Ginseng protects against chromatin damage and thus may be beneficial to reproductive fitness.

Colemanite 광물로부터 붕소화합물의 제조에 관한 연구 : 붕산제조 및 반응기구 (I) (Studies on Preparation of Boron Compounds from Colemanite Ore : Preparation of Boric Acid and Reaction Mechanism (I))

  • Colemanite($Ca_2B_6O_{11}{\cdot}5H_2O$)원광을 황산과 반응시켜 붕산을 추출하는 방법과 그 반응 기구에 대하여 연구하였다. colemanite에 황산을 첨가하고 가열하여 colemanite의 칼슘 성분을 황산칼슘으로 분리하고 붕산을 추출할 때, 첨가하는 황산 첨가량 은 colemanite에 존재하는 Ca 성분을 분리할 때 필요한 화학 양론적인 양보다 많아야 되며, 또한 초기 pH가 5 미만이어야 대부분의 colemanite가 분해되었다. 붕산으로 추출 시 영향을 주는 인자로는 분해온도, 분해시간, 황산 첨가량, 황산암모늄 첨가량, pH. 농축 정도 및 건조온도와 시간이었다. 황산 첨가 시 colemanite에 포함되어 있는 불순물 중 CaO와 MgO는 황산과 반응하여 침전을 형성하고, $SiO_2$는 불용 성분으로 황산칼슘과 함께 분리되고, $Al_2O_3,\;Fe_2O_3,\;TiO_2,\;Na_2O$ 등은 황산과 반응하여 액상 상태로 존재하였다. 이 액상에 암모니아를 첨가하여 존재하는 나머지 불순물을 수산화물 형태로 분리, 석출하였으며, pH 조정과 산성화, 농축, 재결정화 과정을 통하여 붕산을 제조하였다.

기분안정제 (Mood Stabilizers)

  • The introduction of lithium salts for the treatment of mood disorder by Code in 1949 was a major therapeutic breakthrough. Yet it is far from the universal therpeutic agent in the treatment of mood disorders. Indeed, some acutely manic patients do not respond adeqately to lithium and some individuals experience breakthrough affective episodes during lithium maintenance. In the last decode, it has become c1ear that a significant number of patients with more highly recurrent disorders may require alternative or enhanced forms of prophylactic treatment. For these reasons, a variety of other drugs hove been employed for the treatment and prophylaxis of mood disorders. Efforts to develop new pharmacologic strategies for mood disorder hove included a diverse array of medications, ranging from potent benzodiazepines to novel neuroleptics and from anticonvulsants to calcium channel blockers. The anticonvulsants appear particularly useful in cases of dysphoric mania and rapid cycling state, subforms of bipolar disorder that respond quite poorly to conventional treatments. Among all of these new pharmacologic strategy, carbamazepine and sodium valproate have received the broadest clinical applications as maintenance therapies. The data documenting the short-term antimanic effectiveness of the calcium channel blocker verapamil and benzodiazepins such as clonazepam and lorazepam appear also promising. A number of other theoretically interesting, as well as clinically relevant therapies, which are not presently employed routinly, hove also been studied, including 2 blocker clonidine, atypical antipsychotic clozapine, cholinomimetics, 5-HT enhancers, thyroid and magnesium preparations. Now prophylaxis in mood disorder remains a considerable therapeutic challenge. Controlled testing of the prophylactic efficacy of compounds such as carbamazepine, valproic acid, and the calcium channel blockers represent important next step in the clinical trials for mood disorder.
