Soil Physico-chemical Properties by Land Use of Anthropogenic Soils Dredged from River Basins

  • This study was conducted to analyze soil physico-chemical properties of agricultural land composed from the river-bed sediments. We investigated the changes of soil physico-chemical properties at 30 different sampling sites containing paddy, upland and plastic film house from 2012 to 2015. pH, exchangeable calcium and magnesium decreased gradually in paddy soils during the four years, whereas the available $P_2O_5$, exchangeable Ca, Mg and EC increased in upland and plastic film house soil. For the soil physical properties, bulk density and hardness of topsoil were $1.47g\;cm^{-3}$ and 21.5 mm and those of subsoil were $1.71g\;cm^{-3}$ and 25.7 mm in paddy soils. In upland soils, bulk density and hardness of topsoil were $1.48g\;cm^{-3}$ and 15.9 mm and those of subsoil were $1.55g\;cm^{-3}$ and 16.9 mm. In plastic film house soils, bulk density and hardness of topsoil were $1.42g\;cm^{-3}$ and 14.4 mm and those of subsoil were $1.40g\;cm^{-3}$ and 18.5 mm, respectively. The penetration hardness was higher than 3 MPa below soil depth 20 cm, and it is impossible to measure below soil depth 50 cm. As these results, in agricultural anthropogenic soils dredged from river basins, the pH, amount of organic matter and exchangeable cations decreased and soil physical properties also deteriorated with time. Therefore, it is needed to apply more organic matters and suitable amount of fertilizer and improve the soil physical properties by cultivating green manure crops, deep tillage, and reversal of deep soils.

Status and Changes in Chemical Properties of Paddy Soil in Gyeonggi Province

  • The chemical properties of paddy fields in Gyeonggi province were monitored every 4 years from 1999 to 2015 in order to provide basic information for soil fertility management of paddy fields. In 2015, the soil chemical properties of paddy fields were 5.9 in pH, $23g\;kg^{-1}$ in organic matter (OM), and $84mg\;kg^{-1}$ in available phosphate (Avail. $P_2O_5$). Exchangeable (Exch.) potassium (K), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) were 0.30, 5.1 and $1.3cmol_ckg^{-1}$, respectively, and available silicate (Avail. $SiO_2$) was $129mg\;kg^{-1}$. In the long-term analysis, the contents of Avail. $SiO_2$, Exch. Ca and pH of paddy soils showed increasing tendency. However, Avail. $P_2O_5$ and Exch. K tended to decrease, and there were no significant changes in the contents of OM and Exch. Mg. Paddy soil within appropriate pH range increased from 44% in 1999 to 76% in 2003, 84% in 2007, 63% in 2011, and 80% in 2015. But soil within appropriate range of Exch. Ca tended to decrease, showing 36% in 1999, 42% in 2003, 38% in 2007, 37% in 2011 and 32% in 2015. In case of Avail. $SiO_2$, soil within appropriate range increased from 14% in 1999 to 17% in 2003, 18% in 2007, 16% in 2011, and 31% in 2015. As a result, paddy fields with less in nutrient level need to be more fertilized based on soil analysis. And the application of silicate fertilizer is strongly recommended to those of paddy fields in need. Also soil management such as the cultivation of green manure crop or application of rice straw will be necessary to increase the organic matter content of paddy soil.

저열량 생즙 식이가 성인의 혈청 페리틴 농도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a Low-Calorie Raw Juice Diet on the Level of Serum Ferritin in Korean Adults)

  • This study examines the effects of a low-calorie raw juice diet on the level of serum ferritin in adults and analyzes nutrient intake from the diet. There were significant differences between juices; the highest calorie was provided by pear juice, highest crude protein, vitamin A, and vitamin B2 levels were from green Juice 1; and highest vitamin C and vitamin B1 levels were from fruit juices. The ratio of estimated energy requirements (EER) for the participants was 56.2% from the raw juice diet. The percentages of recommended intake (RI) from the raw juice diet of protein (57.9%), dietary fiber (19.1%), niacin (6.2%), calcium (0.1%), and magnesium (0.2%) were lower than 75%. However, those of RI of vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, and vitamin C were 1796.5%, 7481.7%, 1915.5%, 30858.7%, and 7500%, respectively, exceeding the tolerable upper intake level (UL) for vitamin A, vitamin B6, and vitamin C. There were significant decreases in weight, the body mass index (BMI), body fat mass, and skeletal muscle mass in males and females. After the diet program, serum iron and SOD (superoxide dismutase) showed significant decreases, whereas RBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and serum ferritin showed significant increases. There were negative correlations between serum ferritin and weight and between serum ferritin and skeletal muscle mass for all participants. There were negative correlations between serum ferritin and skeletal muscle mass for males and between serum ferritin and body fat mass for females. These results suggest that a raw juice diet can supplement a regular diet to prevent excess or deficient nutrient intake.

모의유통 환경에서 동양배 품질에 미치는 수확 후 칼슘, Lysophosphatidyl ethanolamine (LPE), 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) 처리의 영향 (Effects of Postharvest Treatments of Calcium, Lysophosphatidyl ethanolamine (LPE), and 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) on the Fruit Quality during Simulated Marketing in Asian Pears (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai))

  • '황금배'에서 염화칼슘 침지 처리에 따른 유통 중 품질을 조사한 결과, 0.5% 염화칼슘 처리구가 20.5-21.3N으로 다소 높게 유지되었다. 과피색의 변화에 있어 적색도인 $a^*$은 무처리구는 -2.62로 가장 높았고, 염화칼슘+초음파 처리구가 -3.03~-4.13으로 가장 낮아 과피의 녹색소실이 지연되었다. 유통환경에서 가장 많이 발생한 생리장해는 과육갈변으로 무처리구 과실에서 지수 28로 가장 높았고, 0.5% 농도에서는 침지 13, 초음파병행구 10으로 유의하게 낮았다. FSD 발생은 무처리구에서 지수 9로 칼슘처리구에 비해 발생이 높았고 과심갈변 발생은 처리간 유의한 차이를 볼 수 없었다. '원황'를 대상으로 리소포스파티딜에탄올아민(LPE)의 수확 후 처리효과를 1-MCP 처리와 비교 조사한 결과, 과실 경도는 1-MCP 처리구는 유통과정 중 33N 이상으로 일정하게 유지되는 등 유통 중 경도저하가 낮았으나 유통 21일에 LPE 처리구에서 29.04N으로 다소 낮았다. 생리장해 발생에 있어 1-MCP 처리구는 유통 14일까지 유의하게 생리장해 발생지수가 낮아 효과적이었는데 유통 21일에 FSD 발생이 무처리구 및 LPE 처리구에 비해 2배 증가한 결과를 제외하고는 전반적으로 생리장해 발생이 유의하게 낮았다. 한편, LPE 처리구는 무처리구에 비해서는 생리장해 지수가 낮았으나 1-MCP에 비해서는 상대적으로 높은 결과를 보였다.

겨울철 제설제(CaCl2)농도처리에 따른 맥문동과 수호초의 내염성 평가 (Evaluation of Salt Tolerance of Liriope platyphylla and Pachysandra terminalis to Deicing Salt (CaCl2) Concentration in Winter)

  • 본 연구는 겨울철 제설제 ($CaCl_2$) 농도처리에 따른 맥문동(Liriope platyphylla)과 수호초(Pachysandra terminalis)의 내염성을 평가하고자 수행하였다. 국내에서 제설제로 가장 많이 사용하는 염화칼슘을 각각 0%(Control), 0.5%, 1.0%, 3.0%, 5.0%로 처리한 실험구에 2015년 11월에 맥문동과 수호초를 정식한 후, 이듬해 이른 봄인 2016년 3월에 내염성을 평가하기 위해 초장, 엽장, 엽폭, 엽형지수, 생체중, 건물중, 엽록소함량, 광합성률, 기공전도도, 증산율 등을 측정하였다. 초장, 엽장, 엽폭, 엽형지수, 생체중, 건물중, 엽록소함량, 광합성률, 기공전도도, 증산율 등은 제설제 처리농도가 높을수록 감소되는 것은 두 식물이 동일하였으나, 맥문동이 수호초보다 좀 더 안정된 생육 및 생리적 특징을 보였다. 무엇보다, 맥문동은 3.0% 이상에서, 수호초는 1.0% 이상의 농도처리에서 생존이 불가능해 맥문동이 수호초보다 내염성이 높은 것으로 판단되었으며, 도시 내 제설제 피해지역에 활용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

개미산과 유산균제 첨가 베일 사일리지의 발효 차이가 반추위 발효 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ensilage of Rye Treated with Formic Acid and Lactic Acid Bacteria Inoculant on Ruminal Fermentation Characteristics)

  • 본 실험은 개미산 첨가 방법으로 제조한 제한발효 사일리지의 효용성을 증명하기 위하여 반추위 발효 특성 변화에 미치는 영향을 유산발효 사일리지와 비교하였다. 호밀 재배 포장에서 4종의 베일사일리지(무첨가, 유산균제 첨가, 개미산 첨가, 개미산칼슘염 첨가)을 제조하였고, 18주 후에 각각 4개의 베일을 선택하여 발효품질을 조사하였다. 재료초의 건물 함량이 50% 정도로 비교적 높았던 무첨가 사일리지와 유산균제 첨가 사일리지는 예건 사일리지와 유사한 발효특성을 보였다. 그러나 개미산과 개미산칼슘염 첨가 사일리지는 무처리 사일리지 보다 낙산 함량이 4배 정도 높았고(P<0.05), 총 질소중 NH3-N의 평균 농도도 무첨가 보다 2배 높은 (P<0.05) 낙산발효 특징을 보여주었다. 반추위 발효 특성 조사는 반추위 캐뉼라가 장착된 4두의 홀스타인 암소(평균체중 563kg)를 공시하여 4×4 Latin square design으로 실험을 수행하였다. 사료섭취 후 1, 2, 3 시간에서 유산균제 첨가 사일리지가 개미산 첨가 사일리지보다 반추위 propionic acid 비율(%총 VFA)이 높은 경향(P=0.1)을 보였고, 개미산 첨가 사일리지와 개미산칼슘염 첨가 사일리지를 섭취한 공시축의 반추위 낙산 비율은 사료섭취 후 1, 2, 3, 5시간 모두에서 무처리와 유산균제 첨가 사일리지 보다 유의성 있게 높았다(P<005). 이상에서 보여주고 있는 반추위 발효 양상의 차이를 볼 때, 유산균제 첨가 사일리지와 함께 제한발효 사일리지 도입은 사일리지 이용효율을 높이기 위한 하나의 방안이 될 것이다.

반하(半夏), 수반하(水半夏) 및 천남성(天南星)의 형태(形態) 감별에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Morphological Identification of Pinelliae Tuber, Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma and Arisaematis Rhizoma)

  • Objectives : A morphological classification among Pinelliae Tuber, Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma and Arisaematis Rhizoma was made through microscopic observation. Method : The slice of the tested material made by paraffin section technique was colored with Safranine Malachite Green contrast methods, and then observed and photographed by olymphus-BHT. Result : 1. Pinelliae Tuber is like a ball with a $1{\sim}1.5cm$ diameter, with a concave apex and pockmarked root trace around. 2. Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma is somewhat oval or like a cone, with a $4{\sim}8mm$ diameter, a $7{\sim}15mm$ height, a projected round apex, and a pin-pointed back. 3. Arisaematis Rhizoma is somewhat flat round with a $2{\sim}2.5cm$ diameter, a little than Pinelliae Tuber, and its apex has incomplete lobopodium and root trace. 4. Fundamental tissues of Pinelliae Tuber, Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma, and Arisaematis Rhizoma have starch grains and mucilage cells, and their mucilage cells include the raphides of calcium oxalate. Conclusion : Internal forms of Pinelliae Tuber, Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma, and Arisaematis Rhizoma are difficult to distinguish from one another, but Pinelliae Tuber and Arisaematis Rhizoma can be distinguished by their external forms and sizes, and Pinelliae Tuber and Typhonii Flagelliformis Rhizoma were distinguished by the forms of apex.

Study on minerals status of dairy cows and their supplementation through area specific mineral mixture in the state of Jharkhand

  • Background: Deficiency of macro and micro-minerals in the ration of dairy cows adversely affects growth, milk production and reproduction efficiency. It is essential to examine mineral concentrations in feeds offered to dairy cows in practical farms. Methods: Two villages from each taluka were selected at random for taking representative samples of feeds, forages and hair. Within the village, help was sought from village milk producers and district animal husbandry officer for identification of 4 to 5 farmers and collection of representative samples. All the samples were processed and analyzed for chemical composition as well as major macro and micro-minerals, using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer. Results: Ca content in wheat straw (0.29%), crushed maize (0.02%) and wheat bran (0.12%) was found to be below the critical level (0.30%). The P content in concentrate ingredients was high (0.26-0.96%), but low in dry roughages (0.06-0.12%). Cereal straws (0.14%) and grains (0.12%) were deficient in Mg. Feeds and forages were found to be adequate in K (1.50%). Cereals straws were found to be deficient in S (0.11%). Greens were good source of Cu (12.02 ppm). Wheat straw was found to be low in Zn (18 ppm), but high in Mn (225 ppm) and Fe (509 ppm). Local grasses and azolla green were found to be rich source of Co (>1.00 ppm). Se (0.63 ppm) was present in appreciable quantities in most of the feedstuffs. Conclusions: From the present study, it was apparent that the feeds and forages available in the state of Jharkhand may not meet the requirements for Ca, P, Mg, Cu, Zn and Co in order to sustain a milk production of ~10 kg/day. Therefore, it is necessary to supplement these deficient minerals through area specific mineral mixture in the ration of dairy cows for improving productivity and reproduction efficiency.

단일 및 이중도포에 의한 삼파장형광등의 제조시 목표광색의 조합에 관한 연구 (Color Matching in Production of Tri-color Fluorescent Lamp Coated by Single and Double Layer)

  • 삼파장 형광등의 제작에서 문제가 되는 것은 원하는 목표 색을 맞추기 위하여 혼합하는 세 가지 형광물질의 혼합비율이다. 한 형광체의 광 스펙트럼이 약간 변형되거나, 공정변수에 의하여 변경되거나, Ar과 Kr 같은 불활성가스의 스펙트럼이 혼재하거나 또는 재래 할로인산칼슘이 공존할 경우 원하는 정확한 색을 찾기가 매우 힘들어지게 된다. 이 연구에서는 원하는 목표 색을 빠르게 찾는 방법을 연구하였다. 세 개의 각각의 단일색의 형광등과 3색을 서로 다른 비율로 혼합한 형광등을 만들고 각각의 스펙트럼을 측정한 후 이로부터 알곤과 수은의 스펙트럼을 빼서 변형 색 좌표를 얻었다. 이 변형 색 좌표로부터 적생에 대한 청색과 녹색의 광속비를 그의 무게 비에 대하여 도시하여 무게 대 광속비의 관계를 구하였다. 이 관계식을 이용하여 생산라인에서 삼파장 형광체의 단일 도포 및 할로인산칼슘을 1차로 도포하는 2중 도포를 실시하여 목표색을 조합해본 결과 만족할만한 결과를 얻었다.

Macro- and Micro-nutrient Utilization and Milk Production in Crossbred Dairy Cows Fed Finger Millet (Eleucine coracana) and Rice (Oryza sativa) Straw as Dry Roughage Source

  • Finger millet straw and rice straw are the major source of dry roughage in southern India. They distinctly vary in their morphological and nutritional characters. Hence an effort was made to study the nutrient utilization, milk yield and composition in crossbred dairy cows fed either finger millet (group 1) or rice straw (group 2) as a source of dry roughage. The cows in both the groups were fed as per requirement with concentrate, green fodder and straw in the ratio of 30:45:25 parts (DM). At the end of 50 days of preliminary feeding a digestibility trial was conducted for 7 days and pooled samples of feed, fodder, feces, urine and milk were analysed for macro and micro nutrient content. Finger millet straw contained more CP, Ca, P, Mg, Cu, Zn and Co than rice straw and rice straw contained higher ADF, ash and silica. The intake of DM, CP, EE, NDF, ADF and most micronutrients (Ca, P, Mg, Cu, Zn, Fe, Mn and Co) was significantly higher in cows fed finger millet straw. The digestibility of DM, CP, NDF and ADF was significantly higher in cows fed finger millet straw and the gut absorption of Ca, Cu, Mn and Co was significantly higher in cows fed finger millet straw. The dietary requirement of all micronutrients in both the group of cows could be met irrespective of the type of roughage fed except that of Ca, which was low (0.61 and 0.40%) in rice straw fed cows. The average daily milk yield (L/cow) was also higher (7.0 L) in cows fed finger millet straw as compared to cows fed rice straw (6.3 L). The average milk composition also did not differ except that of milk fat which was significantly (4.7 and 4.5%) low in cows fed rice straw. The overall results of this study have indicated that finger millet straw is a better source of dry fodder than rice straw and while feeding rice straw as the sole roughage to dairy cows there is need to supplement additional calcium as this could be one of the limiting nutrients for milk production.
