The optimum damper retrofit of cabinet structures by genetic (유전자알고리즘을 이용한 캐비닛 구조의 최적감쇠보강)

  • The optimal seismic retrofitting of NPP(Nuclear Power Plant) cabinet structures that contained class 1 relays were studies in this paper. During earthquake event, the failure modes of relays are not appeared in form of structural failure, but are appeared in form of contact chatter of relay. Therefore, the retrofitting of cabinet has to be aimed to the reducing of the structural response, such as acceleration. In this study, the optimal characteristic values of dampers were searched by μ-GA (micro-Genetic Algorithm) scheme for several installation patterns. To keep accuracy and efficiency of analysis, the structural models of cabinet were considered as a frame structure. The responses of structure were obtained in form of acceleration response spectra derived from the results of nonlinear time history analysis including damping nonlinearity. The fitness function of the optimum procedure was constructed based on the ratio of maximum spectral value and target GERS (General Equipment Ruggedness Spectra). The results show the good improvements of fitness fur adequate retrofitting pattern. Especially, the improvements of fitness were remarkable when the damping exponents are proper.

  • In these days, The base isolation system is often used to improve the seismic capacity of the structures instead of conventional techniques of strengthening the structural members. The purpose of this study is to evaluate dynamic property evaluation of control equipment using lead Lead Rubber Bearing. In this study, a base isolation test of seismic monitoring control cabinet with LRB(lead rubber bearing) was performed. The cabinet will be installed on access floor in MCR(main control room) of nuclear power plant. Details and dynamic characteristics of the access floor were considered in the construction of testing specimen. N-S component of El Centre earthquake was used as seismic input motion. Acceleration response spectrums in the top of cabinets showed that the first mode frequency of cabinet with LRB(lead rubber bearing) was shifted to 7.5 Hz in compared with 18Hz of cabinet without LRB and the maximum peak acceleration was reduced in a degree of22 percent from 2.35 g to 1.84 g

  • In this study the purpose is development of passive cooling system for telecommunication cabinet used by latent heat material. This cooling system is not required for electronic power. It was tested for the performance of the telecommunication combined latent heat material with $48^{\circ}C$ of phase changed temperature and heat pipe. At $45^{\circ}C$ of outside temperature, when heater power was 1,000 W and 1,500 W, the inside temperature of the cabinet was $55^{\circ}C$ and $62^{\circ}C$. This system was showed better performance than the other systems.

  • In the manufacture process of refrigerator cabinet, polyurethane(PU) liquid firstly is injected between outer plate and inner case in high temperature about $40^{\circ}C$, and PU foam is generated and solidified to the room temperature. There will be great residual stress in the PU foam, especially at the corners after the whole refrigerator is completely assembled. The stress condition will become more complicated under operating condition because of the large temperature difference between the freezing room and outer plate. And also, there are great differences of properties for plastic and steel which would cause different deformation under temperature gradient. The steel outer plate would expand compared to the PU foam or ABS material under operation condition, which induces a thermally bowing deformation in the refrigerator cabinet. The objective of this paper is to design an optimum bead structure or to use reinforcement in the refrigerator except for improving material properties in order to decrease the deformation.

Simulation Model for Drying Characteristics of Batch-type Tunnel Dryer (배치식 터널 건조기의 고추 건조 시뮬레이션 모델 연구)

  • In this study, experiments were performed for various drying air temperatures, air flow rates tray distance to analyze drying characteristics of batch type tunnel dryer. In comparison of tunnel drying with cabinet drying which is currently used in the farm, the results of drying simulation model of cabinet dryer was used and then the possibility of applying the drying simulation model of cabinet dryer to batch type tunnel dryer was investigated. The results showed that as the drying temperature increased, the drying rte and moisture difference in the direction of air flow increased and as the air flow rate increased, the drying rate increased and moisture differences decreased. In tunnel dryer, drying through bottom of the tray had large effect on drying rate and the effect was more significant when the drying temperature increased. As air flow rate increased, the difference of drying rates between tunnel and cabinet drying increased and drying rate of tunnel of drying was higher. The drying simulation model could estimate moisture content in tunnel more precisely by using modified effective moisture diffusion coefficient for air flow rate.

  • This paper describes the results of RBD(Reliability Block Diagram) analysis of control rod control system, which is being developed as part of KNICS project. The results of RBD indicate unavailability of control cabinet for control rod control system. A purpose of RBB is to evaluate unavailability of control cabinet, identify the design drawbacks of control cabinet, and propose design improvement to a designer to help design the more reliable control rod control system. This RBD defines the logical interaction of failure within a system.

  • In the quest for improved capacity and accelerated dehydration speed of drum type washing machines, an increase in vibration emerges as a major challenge. In an attempt to derive a new design with reduced vibration, a full finite element model of washing machine has been developed, with experimental verification. After modal analyses of several design variants, a new design of the cabinet has been proposed. Forced vibration analysis of the new model suggests that 19% reduction in cabinet vibration amplitude can be achieved with this design.

  • A small UHF RFID tag antenna for a key-chain installed inside of a metallic key-management cabinet has been designed. The tag antenna has been designed as small size as $66\;mm{\times}6\;mm$ with consideration of coupling among the tag antennas and metallic parts of key-chain and cabinet. The tag antenna is fabricated with a meander line dipole using T-matching method with FR-4 substrate. One tag antenna has been designed with consideration of coupling of adjacent tag antennas, and the other has been designed for the location close to the metallic part in the cabinet. The characteristics of tag antennas and reading distance have been analyzed based on the different numbers of adjacent tag antennas. As a results, the 360 tag antennas installed in the cabinet have been successfully recognized.

Seismic Retrofitting of Cabinet Structures in Nuclear Power Plant (원자력 발전소 캐비닛구조물의 내진보강)

  • This paper presents the methodologies for seismic retrofitting of cabinet equipment which can be employed to resolve the USI A-46 problem related to seismic qualification of old nuclear power plant. To obtain accurate dynamic characteristics of a cabinet structure, three types of structural modeling are introduced and the their free vibration modes are compared. Three types of seismic retrofitting scenarios, such as 1) the installation of bracing, 2) installation of damper, 3) installation of tuned mass damper(TMD), are established and evaluated for the decrease of ICRS(In Cabinet Reponse Spectrum). In the cases of 1) & 2), since the retrofitted structures show larger ICRS than that of the original structure, the careful considerations are need in the application of these methods. Though the installation of TMD shows the best retrofitting result, the construction of analysis model that indicate the accurate vibration modes of real structure is estimated the essential step of this retrofitting method.

Shielding Effectiveness Analysis of the Digital Module Storage Cabinet for Nuclear Power Plants According to the Internal Structure and the Angle of EM wave Incidence (내부구조와 전파 입사각에 따른 원전용 디지털 모듈 보관 캐비닛의 차폐효과 분석)

  • In this paper, the cabinet shielding effectiveness (SE) including digital modules for nuclear power plants is analyzed depending on the internal structure and electromagnetic (EM) wave incidence angle. To analyze the SE, the cabinet and modules are modeled using the FEKO EM simulation tool. The SE is then obtained by comparing the electric field with and without the cabinet. In addition, the cabinet SE is observed by changing various conditions such as the spacing of each digital module, incidence angle, and the polarization of the EM wave at the 2.4 G[Hz frequency. To verify the results, the dipole antenna for SE measurements is fabricated, and the SE is measured in a semi-anechoic chamber. The result demonstrates that the SE by the cabinet structure can be expected to be higher when the polarization of the incident EM wave is horizontal to the ground and the distance between the digital modules is wide.
