고강도 운동을 실시한 흰쥐에 대한 오이식초음료의 항피로 효과 (Anti-fatigue effect of a cucumber vinegar beverage on rats after high-intensity exercise)

  • 본 연구에서는 잉여 농산물인 오이를 이용하여 제조한 식초음료의 항피로 효과를 검증하기 위하여 고강도 운동을 실시한 흰쥐에 오이식초음료를 매일 섭취시켜 지구력, 혈청 피로물질, 간과 근육 조직 내 글리코겐 함량, 근육 내 LDH 및 CK 등의 변화를 살펴보았다. 실험동물은 4주령의 수컷 SD계 흰쥐 15마리를 1주간 고형식이로 적응시킨 후 난괴법에 의하여 비운동군(SC), 운동군(EC), 오이식초 섭취군(CV)으로 나누었다(n=5). CV는 사람의 하루 섭취량을 기준으로 체중 kg당 7 mL씩 매일 일정시각에 경구투여 하였고 나머지 그룹은 동량의 증류수를 투여하였다. EC와 CV는 매일 일정한 시각에 트레드밀을 이용하여 분당 15 m로 20분, 분당 20 m로 30분, 분당 25 m로 60분씩 운동을 일주일에 5회 실시하였다. 식이섭취량과 식이효율에서는 그룹 간의 별다른 차이가 나타나지 않았으며 CV군의 신장 무게가 SC군보다 낮았다. 지구력 측정에서 CV가 EC보다 55.96% 더 높은 지구력을 가진 것으로 측정되었고 혈청 피로물질은 CV가 EC보다 현저히 낮은 경향을 보였다. 간과 근육의 글리코겐 함량은 CV가 다른 두 군보다 높은 수치를 나타내어 오이식초음료의 섭취에 따라 간과 근육에서의 글리코겐 재합성이 증가된 것을 확인하였으며 근조직의 LDH와 CK 측정 결과 CV와 EC를 비교하였을 때 CV에서 증가된 수치를 보였다. 이와 같이 고강도 운동으로 훈련을 실시한 흰쥐는 오이식초음료의 섭취에 의해 지구력 증진과 혈중피로물질의 감소, 간과 근육에서의 글리코겐 재합성, ATP 수치의 유지 및 젖산 대사 촉진과 같은 항피로 효과를 나타내었으므로 본 연구의 결과가 오이식초를 이용한 스포츠드링크 개발에 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Al-Cu첨가(添加)에 의(依)한 CV흑연주철(黑鉛鑄鐵)에 관한 기초연구 (A Study of the CV graphite cast iron with small additions of a Al-Cu alloy)

  • CV graphite cast iron has been studied and generally known to have properties close to the average values of those between flake and spheroidal graphite cast iron. However, the thermal diffusivity of CV graphite cast iron is much larger than that of the average value of those between flake and spheroidal graphite cast iron. In this study, an easy production method of CV graphite cast iron with small additions of a Al-Cu which is known as the element of the graphitization was investigated. The effects of hold time and of Al-Cu additions after the treatments with spheroidizer (Fe-Si-Mg alloy) were also investigated. Increasing the additions of a Al-Cu alloy, the holding time to form a CV graphite cast iron was decreasing. Tensile strength and thermal diffusivity (flash method) were measured in order to find the changes of the mechanical properties and the physical properties. Spheroidal, CV, and flake graphite cast iron have tensile strengths 46.44, 38.29, and $27.29\;kg/mm^2$ and thermal diffusivities $3.95{\times}10^{-6,}$ $8.41{\times}10^{-6}$, $8.81{\times}10^{-6}m^2/sec$, respectively at room temperature.

Comparison of Endophytic Microbial Community in Kiwifruit Plant Cultivars

  • The microbiome makes a significant contribution to plant health and endophytes may generate positive effects for the host. However, there is a limited knowledge available concerning the kiwifruit endophyte. Therefore, we discuss endophyte microbiome community structures among the kiwifruit cultivars. Total reads numbered 17620 in cv. Hayward, 11515 in cv. Haegeum and 13613 in cv. Jecygold. The number of OTUs was follows: 112 in cv. Hageum; and 87 in cvs. Hayward and Jecygold. Most of the identified OTUs were phylum Proteobacteria and it emerged that Actinobacteria, Firmicute and Bacteroidetes were mainly present. While the largest difference in Proteobacteria content is between cv. Haegeum and cv. Jecygold, they shared more OTUs than cv. Hayward. As well, this study revealed the presence of remarkably dominated OTU of Pseudomonas spp. in kiwifruit sap regardless of cultivars. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first tone to investigate the kiwifruit endophyte-microbiome community.

무등산수박과 달고나수박의 관비재배와 양액재배에 있어서 생육 및 과실품질의 비교 (Comparisons of Growth and Fruit Quality of Citrullus lanatus cv. Mudeungsan and Citrullus vulgaris cv. Dalgona Grown in Fertigation and Soilless Culture)

  • 무등산수박과 달고나수박을 관비재배 및 양액재배에 대하여 비교 실험한 결과, 엽수는 달고나수박이 많은 반면 엽면적은 무등산수박이 높게 나타났고, 생체중 및 건물중에 있어서도 무등산수박이 달고나수박 보다 더 높게 나타났다. 엽수, 엽면적, 줄기당 생체중 및 건물중 등은 양액재배에서 더 양호한 생장을 나타내었다. 재배방식에 관계없이 당도는 달고나 수박이 무등산수박보다 훨씬 더 높은 반면 과실무게는 무등산수박이 더 높게 나타났다. 수박의 엽병내 질소함량은 정식후 15일에는 11.4∼13.4mg/gFW, 과실비대기에는 17.1∼20.6mg/gFW, 정도로 상승하였다. 인산은 생육초기 3.7∼5.7mg/gFW 정도에서 수확기에 이르면 0.6∼l.1mg/gFW 정도로 감소하였다. 칼리는 생육초기에 5.8∼6.6mg/gFW 정도였으나 수분기부터는 4.0∼4.8mg/gFW 범위로 흡수되었다. 칼슘의 흡수는 생육초기에는 양액재배 수박이 3.4∼4.1mg/gFW 범위로 관비재배 수박의 2.5∼3.5mg/gFW 범위보다 약간 많은 것으로 나타났지만 생육이 진전됨에 따라 관비재배 수박의 흡수량이 양액재배 수박의 흡수량보다 많아지는 경향이었다. 마그네슘의 흡수는 생육초기에 관비재배에서 훨씬 더 용이하게 흡수되는 경향이었으나 수분기 부터는 0.9∼l.3mg/gFW 범위로 일정하였다. 본 실험결과 무등산수박의 양액재배를 통한 품질향상 및 주년재배의 가능성이 인정되었다.

Overexpression of Cuphea viscosissima CvFatB4 enhances 16:0 fatty acid accumulation in Arabidopsis

  • Cuphea viscosissima plants accumulate medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), i.e., those containing 8 ~ 14 carbons, in their seeds, in addition to the longer carbon chain fatty acids (≥16 carbons) found in a variety of plant species. Previous studies have reported the existence of three C. viscosissima MCFA-producing acyl-acyl carrier protein (ACP) thioesterases with different substrate specificities. In this study, CvFatB4, a novel cDNA clone encoding an acyl-ACP thioesterase (EC 3.1.2.14), was isolated from developing C. viscosissima seeds. Sequence alignment of the deduced amino acid sequence revealed that four catalytic residues for thioesterase activity are conserved and a putative N-terminal chloroplast transit peptide is present. Overexpression of CvFatB4 cDNA, which was under the control of the cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter, in Arabidopsis thaliana led to an increase in 16:0 fatty acid (palmitate) levels in the seed oil at the expense of 18:1 and other non-MCFAs.

  • Objectives : To study correlation between Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging, Kupperman’s Index (KI) and Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) of Postmenopausal Women Methods : We analyzed 114 patients visiting Pohang Oriental Hospital from 1 st January 2014 to 30 th September 2015. The evaluating indexed of this trial were Age, DITI, KI, MRS. Temperature and different of temperature, such as In-dang (HN3), dan-Jung (CV17), gwan-won (CV4), hyup-back (LU4), no-gung (PC8), bock-to (ST31), and tae-chung (LR3). Results : Age was no correlation with DITI, KI, and MRS. There were positive correlation with KI and MRS significantly. DITI was not correlated with Age, KI and MRS, while ⊿T1 (LU4-PC8) was correlated with ⊿T2 (ST31-LR3) and ⊿T3 (CV17-CV4). Conclusions : There were non-significant correlation between DITI and Menopausal scale, but significant correlation in DITI themselves, Menopausal themselves. The More studies ar needed for the more accurate oriental medical diagnosis

구강작열감증후군 환자에서 기울과 전중($CV_{17}$)압통의 상관성 - Algometer를 이용한 전중압통의 정량화 측면에서 - (Correlation between Qi-Stagnation and Pressure Pain Threshold on $CV_{17}$ (Danzhong : 膻中) in Burning Mouth Syndrome Patients - In the Perspective of Quantification of Pressure Pain Threshold on $CV_{17}$ by using Algometer -)

  • Objectives : This study was designed to find out whether there is a correlation between qi-stagnation score and pressure pain threshold (PPT) on acupuncture point $CV_{17}$ in burning mouth syndrome (BMS) patients. Methods : Thirty BMS patients who newly visited Oral Disease Clinic at the Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital were surveyed. The subjects were evaluated on age, illness duration, sex, self-assessed severity of BMS, qi-stagnation score, and PPT on 3 acupuncture points ($CV_{17}$, Rt. $SP_9$, Lt. $SP_9$). Results : There was significant correlation between age and PPT on $CV_{17}$ (p=0.005). Therefore, partial correlation analysis with age as control variable was done, and the result showed significant correlation between qi-stagnation score and PPT on $CV_{17}$ (p=0.001). Qi-stagnation diagnostic point by PPT on $CV_{17}$ was suggested as 3.8056 $kg/cm^2$ based on the fact that diagnostic score is 28.50 in the qi-stagnation questionnaire. Furthermore, considering that PPT is effected by age, we could attain qi-stagnation diagnostic equation of PPT on $CV_{17}$, that is suggested as $0.047{\times}(age)+0.848kg/cm^2$. PPT of 3 acupuncture points ($CV_{17}$, Rt. $SP_9$, Lt. $SP_9$) was compared, and the result showed that PPT was significantly lower on $CV_{17}$ (w/Rt $SP_9$: p=0.022, w/Lt. $SP_9$: p=0.012). Also, significance and correlation coefficient with qi-stagnation were higher on $CV_{17}$ (p<0.001, r=-0.620) than Rt. $SP_9$ (p=0.023, r=-0.413) or Lt. $SP_9$ (p=0.014, r=-0.444). Conclusions : The result of this study suggested that PPT on $CV_{17}$, measured quantitatively by algometer, had a strong correlation with qi-stagnation score in BMS patients. Therefore, the study showed that $CV_{17}$ can be a useful acupuncture point in diagnosing qi-stagnation by measuring PPT in BMS patients.

A Quinolone Alkaloid, from the Aleurone Layer of Oryza sativa cv. Mihyangbyo, Inhibits Growth of Cultured Human Leukemia Cell

  • Oryza sativa cv. Mihyangbyo is one of several recently developed varieties of rice; characterized by high levels of aromatic components, which may increase its sensory and nutritional properties. In conjunction with our continuing investigation of bioactive components of improved grain varieties, a quinolone alkaloid was isolated from the n-butanol soluble fraction of the aleurone layer of Oryza sativa cv. Mihyangbyo (Gramineae) through activity-guided fractionation and isolation. The compound exhibited moderate antineoplastic activity in a human leukemia cell line (U937) with an $IC_{50}$/ value of 118.1 ug/mL, based on the MTT(3-[4, 5]dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) cell proliferation assay. The chemical structure of the functional compound was determined, based on physical and spectroscopic characteristics.

  • The purpose of the study was to verify if or not as funtional food by estimating antitumor activity and antimicrobial activity of Coriolus versicolor(Fr.)Quel and Ganoderma Lucidum (Fr.)Karst. 1. The contents of moisture. crude fiber and crude protein of GL were higher $(18.28\%,\;10.3\%,\;78.4\%)$ than that of CV, but the content of crude lipid GL was higher than that of CV. 2. Inhibitory effects of on the growth of AGS human gastric adenocarcinoma cells and HT-29 human colon adenocarcinoma cell were increased by increasing of concentration in added methanol extracts of CV and GL. 3. Antimicrobial activity on Escherichia col1; Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium existed methanol extracts of CV. Therefore. it is suggested that CV is worth as functional food.

우박저항성과 관련된 감자품종의 줄기 특성 (The Correlation between Stem Characteristics and Its Resistance to Hail Damage in Potato Cultivars)

  • 최근 기상재해가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 우박이나 태풍은 감자의 안정적이 재배에 위협적인 요인이다. 이렇듯 돌발적인 기상재해에 감자를 안정적으로 재배하는 것은 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 감자품종별 감자 줄기 특성이 우박에 대한 저항성은 어떠한 관계가 있는지 구명하기 위하여 수행되었다. 부러진 줄기의 비율에서 '대서' 품종은 5%, '고운' 품종은 30%, '새봉' 품종은 26%였다. '대서' 품종은 다른 품종에 비하여 우박에 의한 피해가 가장 적었다. 줄기의 물리적 특성을 측정한 결과 '대서' 품종이 높았다. '대서' 품종의 줄기의 직경은 15mm, '고운' 품종은 13mm, '새봉' 품종은 11 mm 이었다. '대서' 품종의 줄기 경도는 평균 74 N, '고운'품종은 71 N, '새봉' 품종은 59 N 이었다. 우박 피해 당시 토양피복도는 '대서' 품종이 79%의 피복도로 가장 높았고, '고운' 품종은 56% 정도로 가장 적었다, '새봉' 품종은 73%였다. 파종 후 90일째 조사한 수량성은 '대서'가 40 MT/ha '고운'은 30 MT/ha '새봉'은 36 MT/ha이었다.
