  • It is argued that the key task in understanding magnetic fields in the cosmos is to comprehend the origin of their order or coherence over large length scales in galaxies. Obtaining magnetic fields can be done in stars, whose lifetime is usually $10^{10}$ rotations, while galactic disks have approximately 20 to 50 rotations in their lifetime since the last major merger, which established the present day gaseous disk. Disorder in the galactic magnetic fields is injected on the disk time scale of about 30 million years, about a tenth of the rotation period, so after one half rotation already it should become completely disordered. Therefore whatever mechanism Nature is using, it must compete with such a short time scale, to keep order in its house. This is the focal quest.

  • The aim of this study is to consider the meaning of the traditional dwelling house and the cardinal points. The cardinal points is a complex concept of the body-scheme direction and celestial direction. This paper explains the meanings of the traditional dwelling house under the following three subtitles; dwelling as the image of the cosmos; dwelling as the center of the world; dwelling as the subjective space. The traditional dwellings have the prominent characteristic of the image of the cosmos and the center of the world which is regarded the human and the architecture as the microcosmos, and which communicates the heaven with the earth. The traditional dwellings which aims to harmonize the human with the nature have the subjective and meaningful space which articulates the nature through the self-systematization.

  • This Chinese classic on divination can be a textbook for the interpretation of the living cosmos. In ancient the Chinese used to interpret correspondence between human and the cosmos with HADO-NAGSEO and the Eight Trigrams for divination. We will study a mathematical principle of Ancient China in the Chinese classic on divination.

  • In this paper, the application of finite element method to design the shape of load cell as an illustrative case study is described. The relationship between the various shapes of load cell and their stress characteristic were analyzed by COSMOS simulation program. The results obtained from the proposed analysis can be applied to determine the appropriate position of strain gauges for good quality load cell. The experimental results show the good efficiency of the proposed technique.

  • Monte Carlo codes for extensive air shower (EAS) simulate the development of EASs initiated in the Earth's atmosphere by ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) with energy exceeding - $10^{18}$ eV. Here, we compare EAS simulations with two different codes, CORSIKA and COSMOS, presenting quantities including the longitudinal distribution of particles, depth of shower maximum, kinetic energy distribution of particle at the ground, and calorimetric energy. In addition, the lateral distribution of local energy density far from the EAS core has been known as an important quantity to estimate the energy of UHECRs. We also present the lateral distribution function obtained from GEANT4 simulations for detector response.

  • Le Corbusier had developed the Modulor replacing the Regulating Lines in the 1930's and 1940's. The lines can not produce lyrical ideas or creational concept but make plastic dimension pure only to keep in balance. First, the Grid of Proportions was developed and then the Modulor 1. The Modulor originated in one square, double square, the two golden means added or subtracted, the place of the right angle, human dimension, the Fibonacci series and divided Red series and Blue series. He developed the Modulor 2 for a reconciliation between the foot-and-inch system and the metre. As Corbusier devoted himself to a social and industrial problem, he was sure that a transcendental universality be in cosmos including a human being. His dream was to creat a orderly and harmonious utopia. What intrinsic harmony between Cosmos, nature and a human being be realized by mathematic order was the reason he hinted himself to the proportion.

  • To improve the corrosion model of the fuel performance analysis code COSMOS, a model was developed considering thermohydraulic phenomena and the effect of water chemistry and low Sn in the alloy composition on the corrosion behavior. It is assumed that the lithium enhancement factor influences the corrosion behavior only if the subcooled void is present in the coolant. The developed model was verified with the database obtained from Grohnde and Ringhals 3 reactors. Comparison of predicted oxide thickness with measured data showed the applicability of COSMOS code to analyze the cladding oxidation. In the future, the effect of the hydride in the cladding and the precipitate changes due to irradiation should be included.cluded.
