  • The use of Precast Concrete (PC) stairways is increasing to replace existing Reinforced Concrete (RC) stairways for the faster construction and the better quality control. Among several already developed PC stairway construction methods, RC Core Sequential Construction Method by Using PC Stairways (COSEC) has advantages of 1) allowing core of a building to be built prior to PC stairways so that two different procedures will not interfere with each other, and 2) having a newly developed joint connection with the core so that the RC core and PC stairways can be easily put together. In this paper, cases of several construction sites with the PC stairways method are analyzed. The elements of the developed method are described for further application and improvement.

  • This paper Introduces an implementation of MPEG-2 AAC codec system for digital audio broadcasting. This system consists of the encoder and the decoder. This system includes MPEG-2 system multiplexing and demultiplexing modules for Interfacing to the ETRI-DAB system. Four DSPs are adopted for the encoder and three DSPs for 7he decoder. Each DSP Processes system control. 1/0 control, audio signal processing. multiplexing and demultiplexing. This Paper also discusses some near future estimations relaxed to the DAB system and it\`s services. Currently a stereo audio codec is available but multi-channel audio codec and MPEG-4 audio cosec wall be also Implemented.

  • The digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system adopts Coded OFDM(COFDM) for channel coding. The COFDM is a combined technique of multicarrier transmission(OFDM) and punctured convolutional coding with viterbi error correction. Because the channel coding is an important topic for OFDM systems, this paper proposes a new turbo coded OFDM system that replaces the existing RCPC codec by a turbo codec without modifying the puncturing procedure and puncturing vectors defined in the standard DAB system for compatibility. The performance of a new system is compared to that of the conventional system under the frequency selective Rician fading channel and the frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel in conjunction with DAB transmission mode I suitable for the terrestrial single frequency network(SFN) broadcasting. The standard system's performance was improved with the aid of turbo codec.

  • The EVRC (Enhanced Variable Rate Codec) is currently in service as a speech cosec in digital cellular systems in North America and Korea. In the EVRC, the LSP (Line Spectral Pairs) related to energy distribution of speech signals in the frequency domain are coded by weighted split vector quantization. Considering that the LSP codebooks might be trained with the language of the develop country of the codebooks or English, it is expected that codebooks trained with Korean provide the performance improvements in the communication in Korean. In this paper, the EVRC LSP codebooks are designed with korean adopting the LBG algorithm based vector quantization, and the performance improvement of the vector quantization and the accompanying speech quality improvement are demonstrated by spectral distortion, SNR and SegSNR measurements, respectively.
