압축비 변경에 따른 CNG차량의 성능특성 연구 (Performance Characteristics of CNG Vehicle at Various Compression Ratios)

  • 천연가스는 기존 내연기관의 구조를 크게 변경시키지 않고도 사용이 가능하며, 저공해성, 안전성, 내구성 등에 있어서 우수한 특성을 가지고 있고, 매장량이 풍부하다는 점에서 자동차용 대체연료로서 유망시 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 가솔린 기관을 CNG 전용기관으로 개조한 후, 공연비, 점화시기 등과 같은 기관 운전조건들을 최적화한 CNG전용기관을 기존 가솔린차량에 탑재하여, 샤시동력계상에서 연료소비량 및 배기배출물 농도를 측정·비교하였다. 또한, 실도로상에서 가속성, 운전성 등의 차량 주행특성에 대해서도 평가하였다. 그 결과, 시작 CNG차량의 경우에는 가솔린 차량에 비하여 연비는 향상되었고 배기배출물은 저감되었으나 출력은 약간 감소되었다.

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis of how to calculate fuel efficiency in major development countries (U.S. and Europe) and energy consumption formular derivation of domestic CNG fuel and prove by vehicle test. The formula of fuel consumption is different in mpg(mile per gallon), l/100km, and km/l each countries. CNG fuel has a significant impact on fuel density, composition, and Hydro-Carbon ratio. So, this study how to measurement and calculation procedures of CNG gaseous fueled vehicle energy consumption rate.

  • Recently rise in oil prices feet the burden on not only diesel vehicle driver but also LPG vehicle driver, and get interested in various way to reduce fuel costs. In this study discuss on exhaust emissions characteristics on driving cycle mode and ignition advance condition change of CNG/LPLI Bi-Fuel vehicle. Experimental test was performed by changing the conditions of fuel (LPG/CNG), spark advance (Base, $10^{\circ}CA$, $15^{\circ}CA$), and driving mode (FTP-75, HWFET, and NEDC). In case of CO emission, in the order of CNG Base, CNG S/A10, S/A15 condition are average reduced -21%, -35%, -29% respectively compared to LPG fuel. The active emission reduction from the initial engine start, spark retard is likely to be beneficial in catalyst warm-up and improve combustion stability rather than spark advance.

  • There are about 38,977 CNG cars and 247 natural gas vehicle charging stations in operation in order to improve the urban air environment. With the introduction of natural gas vehicles, the atmospheric environment, which was the main cause of air pollution in the metropolitan area, was remarkably improved. However, unlike these positive effects, CNG bus accidents, which occurred more than 10 times since 2005, have caused concern among the majority of citizens using public transportation. It is necessary to make a judgment on the feasibility and future direction of CNG pressure vessel safety management that can safeguard the safety of CNG pressure vessel at the time of starting. In this study, we investigates production and use of CNG vessel, the current status of safety management of CNG bus transportation companies & charging stations and then proposes measures to prevent accident recurrence and safety management based on the actual situation investigation and analysis.

디젤엔진개량에 의한 천연가스차량전환에 관한 연구 (A Study on Natural Gas Vehicle Conversion by Diesel Engine Improvement)

  • Natural gas is considered to be on e of the most promising candidates for a clean substitute fuel and a great amount of research on the compressed natural gas(CNG) fueled vehicle has been performed. In this s tudy, we try to understand the property of CNG fuel with using CNG engine experiment. In order to present the direction and application of CNG, we experiment with various operating conditions that is, spark timing, A/F ratio, air quantity and fuel quantity, etc. 11,967 cc engine was used in the experiment and the engine fuel ratio was determined in the way that the performance of dedicated CNG engine is corresponded to that of existing diesel engine. The performance and dedicated CNG engine were measured by changing the fuel injection timing. The dedicated CNG engine was proved to be good in describing the experimental results and according to the actual road test, acceleration and constant speed driving for dedicated CNG engine was better than existing diesel engine.

압축천연가스 자동차의 안전성 향상을 위한 제언 (Suggestion for Safety Improvement of Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle)

  • 지난 2010년 8월 9일 발생한 압축천연가스(compressed natural gas, CNG) 버스의 내압용기 파열사고 이후 정부는 CNG자동차의 안전관리 체계를 구축하기 위하여 다각적인 연구를 수행하였으며, 본 내용은 그 주요 내용을 정리한 것이다. CNG자동차의 안전성 향상을 위해 관련 법령, 검사 인증기준 등 안전관리제도를 검토하였고, 더불어 CNG자동차 관련 종사자(검사원, 정비원)에 대한 교육훈련 등도 검토하였다. 주요 검토내용으로는 CNG자동차용 용기형태, CNG용기의 설치위치, 압력방출배관의 재질 및 설치형태, 배관접속 및 접합방법, 가스누출 경보시스템, 긴급차단밸브 및 작동 스위치, CNG용기 보호커버, CNG 자동차 충전사업자의 공급자 의무사항, CNG자동차의 정기검사제도, CNG자동차의 일상점검 제도, CNG자동차 종사자의 교육훈련제도, CNG버스 운송사업체의 안전관리자 선임제도 등이다. 위의 주요 항목들을 중점적으로 검토하여 CNG자동차의 안전성 향상 방안을 제안하였다.

  • 본 고에서는 CNG차량에 대한 해외의 동향과 자동차 대체연료로서의 CNG의 특성 및 CNG차량에 대한 구조, 성능 및 안전성에 대하여 검토 소개한다. 근년 자동차용 대체연료로서의 관점은 저공해성이 중요하게 부각되고 잇다. 이에 따라 국내의 대도시환경오염 방지를 위한 한가지 방안으로서 CNG의 채용이 활발하게 논의되어오고 있다.

CNG/LPG Bi-fuel 승용차의 배출가스 특성 (Exhaust Emissions Characteristics of Bi-fuel CNG/LPG Passenger Cars)

  • Compressed natural gas (CNG) is well known as one of the cleanest burning alternative fuels. Bi-fuel CNG vehicle can also run on gasoline or another fuel while dedicated natural gas vehicle is designed to run on natural gas only. Recently, increased attention has been focused on bi-fuel CNG/LPG taxi because of good fuel economy of CNG. A number of LPG taxis modified to CNG Bi-fuel vehicles are running in many cities. In this paper, the emissions characteristics of in-use passenger cars running on CNG and LPG were investigated. Chassis dynamometer test was used to measure exhaust emissions from an in-use fleet of 5 cars. Exhaust emissions were collected for CVS-75 driving mode. The test results showed that for CNG fuel mode, CO, $CO_2$ and NMHC emissions decreased to 9%, 12% and 14% respectively, and $CH_4$ and $NO_x$ emissions increased to 317% and 47% respectively.

  • Due to persist of high oil prices, LPG price stabilization and CNG modification project will be conducted. Present study describes the fuel efficiency and $CO_2$ emission characteristics on driving cycle mode and ignition advance condition change of CNG/LPG Bi-Fuel vehicle. In case of LPG Base and CNG Base condition, considerable $CO_2$ emissions are generated within range of high acceleration on FTP-75 and HWFET driving mode. However previous phenomena does not appear in CNG fuel $10^{\circ}CA$ and $15^{\circ}CA$ spark advance condition. As a result of analyzing the experimental data CNG $S/A10^{\circ}CA$, CNG $S/A15^{\circ}CA$, CNG Base, and LPG Base sequentially measured high fuel economy and low $CO_2$ emission characteristics.
