The purpose of this study is to investigate the application of Column Jet Method(CJM) as countermeasure against settlement and slope sliding of existing marine structure due to embankment load behind reclaimed revetment. CJM is to make high-strengthened body by compacting and grouting cement mortar after forming artificial space in the ground with ground relaxition machine or high pressure water jetting. Before the ground was reinforced by CJM, the result of slope stability analysis was not satisfy the allowable safe ratio, but after the ground was reinforced by CJM, the stability of slope was over the allowable safe ratio and stable, Therefor, the application of CJM to restraint settlement and sliding of marine structure was very satisfactory.
There were no cases to use CJM Grouting to Reduce the Permeability of open-cut in Alluvium adjacent to Han River. In this paper, the applicability of CJM Grouting to Reduce the Permeability in Alluvium is reasonably estimated by in-situ Permeability test and coring. It is known that the range of improvement is decided by injection pressure, time of high pressure water and by slump, injection pressure of injection materials.
This experiment was designed to investigate the effect of Coptis japonica Makino(CJM) on the Alzheimer's disease. The effects of CJM extract on $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, amyloid precursor proteins (APP), acetylcholinesterase(AChE), glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP) mRNA of PC-12 cell treated by $A{\beta}$ plus $rIL-1{\beta}$ and AChE activity of PC-12 cell lysate treated by $A{\beta}$ plus $rIL-1{\beta}$ and behavior of memory deficit rats induced by scopolamine and mice glucose, uric acid, AChE activity of memory deficit rats induced by scopolamine were investigated, respectively. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. CJM extract suppressed $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6 mRNA in PC-12 cell treated by $A{\beta}$ plus $rIL-1{\beta}$ 2. CJM extract suppressed APP, AChE, GFAP mRNA in PC-12 cell treated by $A{\beta}$ plus $rIL-1{\beta}$ 3. CJM extract suppressed AChE activity in cell lysate of PC-12 cell treated by $A{\beta}$ plus $rIL-1{\beta}$ 4. CJM extract group showed significantly inhibitory effect on the memory deficit of mice induced by scopolamine in the experiment of Morris water maze. 5. CJM extract increased glucose, decreased uric acid and AChE significantly in the serum of the memory deficit rats induced by scopolamine. We investigated the effects of Cirsium japonicum var. maackii (CJM) against oxidative stress-induced C6 glial cells and cognitive impairment in mice. To evaluate the anti-oxidative effect of the extract and fractions from CJM, 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT), reactive oxygen species (ROS), and nitric oxide (NO) assays were conducted in H2O2-treated C6 glial cells. Furthermore, we identified the protective mechanisms of CJM with a scopolamine-treated mice model. The results revealed that H2O2 decreased the cell viability in C6 glial cells, indicating that H2O2 induced oxidative stress in glial cells. However, CJM fractions significantly increased cell viability in H2O2-treated C6 glial cells, which suggested that CJM protected against oxidative stress. CJM extract and fractions also reduced ROS and NO production, which were increased by H2O2 in C6 glial cells. In particular, the EtOAc fraction from CJM (EACJM) effectively protected against oxidative stress by increasing the cell viability and decreasing ROS and NO. Therefore, we carried out further in vivo experiments with EACJM. Scopolamine caused increases of ROS, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), and NO production. However, EACJM effectively alleviated ROS, TBARS, and NO levels compared to scopolamine-injected mice. In addition, EACJM up-regulated protein expressions of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase, indicating that EACJM enhanced the antioxidative system. Our results demonstrated that CJM had protective effects against oxidative stress in glial cells and memory dysfunction in mice. Based on these results, we propose that CJM could be a potential AD preventive and therapeutic agent.

Over-produced reactive oxygen species (ROS) exert oxidative damage on lipids, proteins, and DNA in the human body, which leads to the onset of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we explored the cellular antioxidant effect of Cirsium japonicum var. maackii (CJM) against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced oxidative stress in neuronal cells. The antioxidant activity was assessed using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide, 2',7'-dichlorofluorescin diacetate and nitric oxide (NO) assays, and the molecular mechanisms were examined by Western blot analysis. H2O2 treatment of SH-SY5Y cells decreased cell viability and increased ROS and NO production compared to H2O2-untreated cells. However, CJM increased cell viability and decreased ROS and NO accumulation in the H2O2-treated SH-SY5Y cells compared to H2O2-treated control cells. Especially, the EtOAc fraction from CJM showed the strongest antioxidant effect compared with the other extracts and fractions. Therefore, we further examined the CJM mechanism against oxidative stress using the EtOAc fraction from CJM. The EtOAc fraction up-regulated the expressions of heme oxygenase-1, NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1, and thioredoxin reductase 1. These results indicate that CJM promotes the activation of antioxidative enzymes, which eliminate ROS and NO, and further leads to an increase in the cell viability. Taken together, our results show that CJM exhibited an antioxidant activity in H2O2-treated SH-SY5Y cells, and it could be a novel antioxidant agent for the prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative disease such as AD.

This study was investigated the anti-oxidant property and neuro-protective effect of Cirsium japonicum var. maackii (CJM) against oxidative stress in hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$)-induced C6 glial cells. We measured the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical, hydroxyl radical (${\cdot}OH$), and superoxide ($O_2{^-}$) radical scavenging activities of an ethanol extract and four fractions [n-Butanol, ethyl acetate (EtOAc), $CHCl_3$, and n-Hexane] from CJM. The results of this study show that the extract and all fractions from CJM had a dose-dependent DPPH radical scavenging activity. In particular, the EtOAc fraction exhibited the strongest scavenging effect with 88.23% at a concentration of $500{\mu}g/mL$. In addition, the EtOAc fraction from CJM also effectively scavenged ${\cdot}OH$ radicals and $O_2{^-}$ radicals, compared to other extract and fractions. In C6 glial cells, $H_2O_2$ markedly decreased the cell viability as well as increased lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. However, the EtOAc fraction of CJM attenuated the cellular damage from the oxidative stress by elevating the cell viability and inhibiting the LDH release and ROS over-production compared with the $H_2O_2$-treated control group. Our findings indicate that the EtOAc fraction from CJM has antioxidant effect and neuro-protective effect against oxidative stress, suggesting that it can be used as a natural antioxidant and therapeutic agent for the prevention of neurodegenerative disorders.

Simultaneous determination of three methoxyflavones, namely, cirsimarin (1), hispidulin (2), and cirsimaritin (3) in selected Korean thistles was performed via reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography system. Compound 1 was present in all the thistle species examined, whereas 2 and 3 were only detected in Cirsium japonicum and C. japonicum var. maackii (CJM). The concentration of compounds 1-3 in CJM varied according to the time of harvest. Plants collected in the spring (CJMS) and fall (CJMF) had the highest contents of 3 and 1, respectively. A lower content of 2 was observed in CJMF than in CJMS. This indicates that seasonal variation affects the flavonoid content of CJM. The results of this study show that CJM is an excellent source of compounds 1-3 and it can potentially be cultivated for industrial and pharmaceutical applications involving these compounds.

Leuconostoc mesenteroides is used as a starter to produce high-quality kimchi products. In this study, an efficient and economical cabbage juice medium (CJM) was developed by process optimization of cabbage extraction and pasteurization and by compositional supplementation of various lacking nutrients. The pasteurized cabbage juice was determined to be a good medium candidate to cultivate L. mesenteroides, showing maximal cell numbers ($9.85{\times}10^8CFU/ml$) after 24 h. Addition of sucrose and yeast extract with soy peptone resulted in increment of bacterial cell counts in CJM, showing the supplementing effect of the lacking nutrients. Furthermore, addition of shell powder gave a protective effect on bacterial cells by preventing pH decline and organic acid accumulation in CJM, resulting in a 2-fold increase of bacterial counts. The optimized composition of CJM was 70% cabbage juice diluted with water, 0.5% (w/v) sucrose, 1% (w/v) yeast extract, 1% (w/v) soy peptone, and 1.5% (w/v) ark shell powder. The CJM developed in this study was able to yield a comparable level of bacterial counts with MRS medium and reduced the cost by almost 10-fold.

Mobile Grocery Shopping (MGS) has become the New Normal as the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way consumers shop. Drawing on the framework of Customer Journey Map (CJM), this study explores consumers' MGS by identifying specific stages of Customer Journey and comparing consumers' satisfaction between PC-based online and mobile shopping experiences at each stage throughout the journey. This study collected 562 responses from subjects who have mobile and PC-based grocery shopping experiences at the major domestic e-Commerce platforms. Independent t-test analysis showed that differences in satisfaction between mobile and online shopping experiences exist in 5 main stages and 16 sub-stages of CJM. The results of service and technological innovation mentioned in the actual industry report were seen as empirical results leading to continued use of MGS as well as customer satisfaction. The findings of this study contribute to the research stream on Customer Journey by adopting the structure of CJM and analyzing specific stages of the journey in the context of MGS. Managerial implications for mobile-based business practitioners are also discussed.
Coffer dam for tunnel type spillway in inflow section of Dae-am dam was originally planned as 2 lines sheet piles with Water Zet method. But, the result of pilot test was caused of some problems that vibration during installation of pile could pollute water and water leakage could the lower part. So, sheet piles was not satisfactory for faculty of coffer dam. Structural instability of sheet pile system need to reinforcement. Characteristic of Dae-am dam was small reservoir capacity but wide drainage area, of which it was judgment that security of leakage and stability was difficult during excavation of inlet part. So, we consider that water curtain method utilized with in site pouring concrete pile method was designed at weir part of spillway. We were known about basement rock that geological boring was carried out in weir part. After taking a deep consideration, PRD method was accepted as a new method. Concrete pile by PRD was installed to below country rock. CJM method was carried out with PRD. After making concrete wall using Top-down method, earth anchors were installed for supporting it. According to the result of numerical analysis, as water level rises, wall is stable.
